Chapter 195: The Princess and the Knight
Diego and the others did not go deep into the jungle, but stayed at the edge of the woods. Because Masrae was the only one in the group who had night vision, and the others were blind at night - while on the beach, Diego found that his spell energy goggles had been broken and could not be used. To fix it, at least you have to wait until you get back to Treasure Cove and find the tools and materials to get your hands on.
They hid behind trunks thick enough and looked out in the direction of the coast. It seems that the pirates were not determined to win against them, and after a period of shelling, the beach was quiet again.
The group did not know whether the dinghy had been withdrawn, so they had to be on guard until dawn, and they were relieved.
Because the flat beach has an unobstructed view, there is now nothing left except the large and small potholes blown out by yesterday's fighting. In the distance, there was no trace of the Wave Chopping Waves. Diego guessed that the Wave Chopping might have been defeated last night, and when he saw a fire on the beach, he came over to see if he could catch a few fish that slipped through the net, but he didn't expect it to be a nest of thorny sea urchins! The pirates, who had been fighting for a long time, had nowhere to speak, and they had no patience to grind on, so they had to give up and leave.
A group of people were happy and sad, happy that they had finally escaped, and worried about how to find a way to leave. The group got together to discuss it, but found that their opinions were very different - Diego wanted to wander the island's dense forests, while Klatz insisted on staying on the beach and waiting for rescue from Booty Bay.
After a dispute, the two groups had to go their separate ways, and the goblins decided to stay at the beach to keep warm, while Masrae naturally wanted to open his eyes with Diego. But they didn't tear each other's faces, and Kraz told the hunter that if a ship came, he would wait for Diego here for three days. Of course, what would have happened to Diego if he hadn't shown up after three days, he didn't elaborate, but they both understood. It's just tacit.
They were on the southern tip of the island, and Diego did not go directly into the rugged jungle, but followed the flat coast first to the west and then to the north.
"I think. You're not really just going to walk around the island, are you? When the goblins were no longer visible, Masrae leaned over and asked.
"Of course not, look at this." Diego pulled out the note from the bottle he had picked up from the Crystal Coast of Thorn Valley from his bosom and handed it over.
Due to being immersed in seawater. The handwriting was a little blurry, but Masrae could still read what the handwriting meant, and his mouth grew in surprise.
"You're saying that the island mentioned above is here, Haguero?"
"I think so, unless you can find an island bigger than it in the southeast of the Valley of Thorns." Diego said firmly.
"So, we've got to go find the guy who threw that bottle into the ocean, do you know who he is?"
"I don't know, maybe it's a princess imprisoned by a dragon, waiting for his knights to come and save her." Diego said. In fact, this sentence has reservations, half-truths.
Masrae's eyes lit up, "Wow, this is a story that only comes out of a bard's song, are you sure it's true?"
"Perhaps!" Diego replied. He was still worried about how to find Haguiro Island on the ship, but now he unexpectedly escaped here, which can be seen as the arrangement of fate. It is not his habit to stand by and watch people fall in distress.
They walked west for half a day, then turned north. Diego discovers that the island is not as far from the Valley of Thorns as he thought. Because they could see the sky to the northwest, with vaguely rolling mountains. Diego is estimated to be around a few hundred nautical miles.
They don't really just step on the sand, because the sand is very soft in the sun, and it is very tiring to walk on it step by step. And it's easy to pour a shoe of sand into it, and blister your feet. They usually walk on hard grassy flats, and sometimes Masrae will run to the edge of the jungle and take a few curious glances.
The jungles of Haguero are almost completely pristine, with no signs of any sapient beings ever inhabited, not even the remains of trolls that dot the Valley of Thorns. It's hard to see here too. Apart from the occasional monkey jumping from the trees and a variety of colorful tropical birds, they rarely see any other living creatures.
However, this changed greatly when they came to the north side of the island. Because Diego was keenly aware of the green eyes watching them in the depths of the jungle, it was a black jungle cheetah that fed on monkeys, and they were very interested in these new prey tables, but this beast of prey that was used to hunting alone did not pose a threat to the three of them at all.
It was not until near noon the next day that they arrived at the destination of their trip, a small fjord sunted out of the shore. The water in the fjord is shallow and not suitable as a mooring place for large ships. This may be the reason why the island was not taken over by pirates.
They followed the beach to the deepest part of the fjord. This is the closest route into the heart of the jungle, but the rainforest doesn't show much hostility due to Masrae, the druid, but the humid and stuffy environment itself is exhausting and miserable, and even the Night Elves are a little helpless.
Fortunately, it was not a long journey, and when it was time for afternoon tea—of course, they didn't do it now—they came to the foot of the mountain that reached the center. However, it is full of lush and towering trees, and when you look up at the foot of the mountain, you can't see anything but the green canopy, and you can't estimate how high the mountain is.
Diego walked around the foot of the mountain for a long time to find the cliff in his memory, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of excitement in his heart. From here, he led the way up the cliff. It's a cliff, but it's not steep, it's a steep slope at most, and there are a lot of old vines and large trees with plate-like roots to climb, so they don't climb slowly. Guanhaifa, in particular, climbed faster than everybody.
Just as Diego was approaching the top of the mountain, they suddenly heard a female exclamation from the top of the mountain. Apparently, someone was scared by the big cat.
"Guan Haifa, stand back!" Diego shouted. With a strain of his hands and feet, he accelerated to climb up.
It was a platform halfway up the mountain, and Guan Haifa, who was also frightened by the screams, was nervously confronting the people, its teeth bared, and a low roar came out of its throat.
Standing opposite it was a female minotaur holding a wooden slat. She has reddish-brown hair, but her hands and hooves are white. Compared to the strong male minotaur, the female minotaur looked much softer - she was plump, with small rounded forward horns on her forehead, and her supple mane was combed into two neat braids at the shoulders.
Diego noticed that she had a chain with an iron ball at the end of her ankle. The iron ball was as thick as a water tank, and Diego estimated that it weighed three or four hundred pounds.
"Ma'am, please be quiet, we have no ill will." Masrae explained softly to the frightened minotaur.
"In fact, we're here to save you, and we've picked up the bottle you threw into the sea." Diego pulled the note out of his bosom and handed it over.
The minotaur took the note and looked at it a few times, and her nervous face finally eased. (To be continued.) )
