Chapter 6: Night
As time passed, it grew dark, and then another group of refugees from Stannbride arrived in Brill with their families. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info
It is clear that they are also in great need of help.
"Jon, looks like we're going to spend the night here today, right?" Looking out the window at the night, Bridget Abydis looked a little depressed.
"I'm afraid so......" Jon nodded in embarrassment.
If it weren't for the new refugees, they would have been able to rush back at night, after all, the work was almost done; But now, I'm afraid it's a little difficult.
"No, it's okay to have me here!" Father Lancaster said calmly, "Children, you can get back to Lordaeron before nightfall. β
"This ......" glanced at Father Eye, and Jon couldn't help but hesitate.
"Don't worry about me, Jon, there aren't many refugees in this batch, I'll be able to do it all by myself!"
"Thank you so much, Father Priest!" Bridget said excitedly, she had planned to take a shower tonight, and it would be too bad if she had to stay with Brill.
"It's okay, Bridget!" Looking at Bridget's excited appearance, Father Lancaster also had a smile on his face, knowing that he admired this new disciple very much.
"Then let's go pack our things!"
β¦β¦
"Father, let's go!" After packing up his things and putting them all in the wagon, Jon walked over to Father Lancaster, who was busy in the crowd of refugees.
"Okay Jon, remember to be careful on the road, don't leave the road, and make sure to get back to Lordaeron before the sun goes down completely......" Father Lancaster chattered a little more, despite his busy schedule.
After patiently listening to his nagging and saying goodbye, Jon was about to leave, but was stopped by the priest again.
The priest dug into his pocket for a long time before pulling out a strange cylindrical object and handing it to Jon.
"What is this?"
"This thing was given to me by a dwarf friend from Nomorigan, and if something happens on the way, press the button below, and it will rise into the air and explode, which will attract nearby guards......" the priest babbled.
Flares? Jon took the strange engineering artifact with some curiosity.
"Alright, Jon, let's go back!" Father Lancaster said with a smile.
By the time she got back to the carriage, Bridget was already a little impatient.
"Hurry up, Jon!" She shouted.
"Okay, I'm here!"
The two men got into their wagons and hurried at full speed towards Lordaeron.
It took about thirty minutes for the carriage to travel at full speed from Brill to the gates of Lordaeron.
In the carriage, Bridget hummed a little song happily, and Jon, out of boredom, began to practice the spells of the Holy Light against the air.
"Jon, you're so boring......"
That being said, Brigitte, who was in a good mood, generously allowed Jon to unleash the spell on herself.
Ten minutes later.
The two men in the carriage suddenly felt a violent vibration, and then the carriage at high speed suddenly stopped.
"What's going on?" Bridget asked, a little uneasy.
"Go down and have a look!"
Jon quickly jumped out of the carriage, Bridget following closely behind.
"Looks like the axle is broken!" After carefully probing the carriage's current condition, Jon finally came to a conclusion.
This carriage has been used for a long time, and the parts on the car are relatively old, and the axle was accidentally broken during the high-speed driving just now, so this situation will occur.
"How could we be so unlucky!" Bridget was clearly unhappy about this.
"No way!" Jon shrugged his shoulders, "The carriage must not be able to move, and we can't fix it on our own, so there are only two options now!" β
"First, we turn around and turn back, almost before the sun goes down completely, and we can almost get to Brill before the sun goes down, and we will explain the situation to the priest there, and we will come back together early tomorrow morning!"
"Second, we'll just speed up and head to Lordaeron, but I'm sure we won't be able to get there before dark!"
"Jon, choose the second one!" Bridget said without thinking.
Looking at the bold girl, Jon reminded softly, "Bridget, the Tirisfal Glade at night is not safe at all!" β
The Tirisfal Glade is the name of this wood.
At night, there are often some ferocious beasts here, and it is dangerous to encounter them. Of course, there is something more dangerous than wild beasts, and that is people!
You must know that this world is not the world of the future under the shroud of the state apparatus and the security conditions are very good. Even though it is near Lordaeron, the most prosperous city on the continent, when night falls, some unrighteous people are still indispensable, such as thieves and even robbers.
If you continue to walk forward in the night, you may also encounter these people.
However, Bridget didn't know much about it, as she was born in the hands of Tyr and had lived there for so many years.
The Hand of Tyr is the headquarters of the Knights of the Silver Hand, and a large number of powerful paladins are refreshed every day, even the most powerful thieves and robbers dare not haunt there.
Looking at Jon, who was a little worried, Bridget couldn't help but laugh: "Jon, you're too timid, aren't you?" β
Jon pursed his lips and didn't speak.
The girl pulled out two daggers from her waist and waved them at Jon, then said, "Don't worry, Jon, I'm very good, my father taught me a lot of fighting skills since I was a child!" β
The two daggers shone with a faint golden light, and there was some dazzling light in the night.
After a moment's thought, she handed Jon one of the daggers and said generously, "This one will be given to you, and you will be able to defend yourself." β
Nodding, Jon took Bridget's dagger.
In his mind, a cold voice suddenly sounded:
You have earned the "Heirloom Dagger of Abydis" - Deputy (Finesse)!
It was actually a high-level weapon, which made Jon look twice.
The cold voice sounded again: "Enchantment detected, enchanted weapon - Crusader!" β
"This is an enchanted dagger?" Jon asked.
"yes!" Bridget replied, "My father specially asked Master JesΓΊs of the Order to enchant me, and the master told me that the enchanted pair of daggers can easily pierce the breastplate of a paladin!" β
"It's kind of amazing!" Jon couldn't help but squint.
Usually the paladin of the Silver Hand, his cuirass is made of sturdy Mithril or even Thorium, even ordinary spears are difficult to pierce, this small dagger is so powerful.
"Thanks!" Jon carefully pinned the dagger to his waist.
"Now don't worry, let's go?" The girl suggested.
Jon nodded, and the two continued on their way towards Lordaeron.
It's getting darker, and I'm afraid it won't be long before the sun goes down completely.
After five minutes of walking, Jon suddenly stopped, bent over, and seemed to pick up something.
"Jon, what's wrong?"
"Nothing!" Jon said calmly, as he gently tossed a yellow leaf to the ground.
But his heart is far from being as calm as it seems.
The leaf he had just picked up, he could confirm, was the mark left by a thief in disguise.
Looks like we're going to have a little trouble today!
