Chapter 30: The Council of Kings (2)
"We must join forces!" Lothar paused for a moment and emphatically said, "Since we can't resist the invasion of the orc army alone, then there is only one way left for us, and that is to join forces, so that we may be able to defeat them." β
"Unite? I don't think we need any union in the Kingdom of Gilneys. "Jean Greymane is a die-hard isolationist who doesn't agree with Lothar's advice.
The other kings were also noncommittal, talking in private and whispering, not paying enough attention to Lothar's words.
At this moment, the archmage of Dalaran, Antonidas, stood up, and he spoke, "Everyone, please listen to me. β
Everyone present was still whispering, and when Antonidas saw this, he paused his staff slightly, and a dazzling arcane light suddenly burst out in front of everyone's eyes.
The crowd fell silent, and when everyone's attention was focused on Antonidas, he said, "I'll say a few words. β
"A few months ago, our archmages of Dalaran felt a strong spatial fluctuation appear in the south of this world, and if what Lord Lothar just said was true, then there must have been a portal to another world opened at that time. The orc army he spoke of should have all come to our world through this portal. β
Khadgar affirmed Antonidas' words: "It is the Dark Gate, which is in the Dark Swamp, from which the Orcs pour out like a tidal wave to flood the kingdom of Azeroth. β
After some consideration, Khadgar did not reveal the fact that it was the Guardian Medivan who opened the portal, and as for the truth of the whole thing, he would explain it to Antonidas in detail later.
Antonidas glanced around at everyone present and continued, "And then we, the Kenrito Council, received reports from mages from all over the South, who described to us the horror of the strange race of orcs. There are a large number of spellcasters among the orcs, who can cast all kinds of evil spells, and even desecrate lives and summon demons. So I do not think that His Excellency Lothar is alarmist, and if we do not heed his advice, then we may well put ourselves in great danger. β
"That being said, shouldn't we be thankful for this ...... in the first place? Belch...... Lord Lothar brought news of the threat of orcs. Ayden, King of Alterac, bowed to Lothar with a slight exaggeration.
Then he continued: "But he keeps insisting that we need to unite, but for me, he is just a stranger who suddenly appeared in front of me and said this to me, why should I listen to him? And even if we really want to join forces......"
Aiden looked at Varian and said, "Their kingdom has been destroyed, and their prince is just a child, so what else can they contribute?" β
Varian slapped the table and stood up, and said coldly, "Your Majesty Aiden, can I think that you are provoking our Azeroth Kingdom?" β
A pale white light appeared in Varian's hand, and if Aiden dared to say a word again, Varian would let him know that the light could not only heal, but also punish.
Varian's movements surprised Aiden, who shrank back unnaturally, nearly tripping over the chair behind him.
Compared to several other kings who were not weak, Aiden was just an ordinary person who was used to living a life of fine clothes and food, and he was not a strong-willed person, otherwise he would not have done such a thing as surrendering to the orcs in the original timeline.
"Humph!" Aiden, who came back to his senses, found that he was scared away by a half-old child, and his face suddenly couldn't hang up. But at this time, he couldn't save face by saying anything, so he could only sit back with a cold snort.
"Calm down, Varian." Lothar stopped in front of Varian.
Then the voice of King Terenus rang out: "Don't worry, Varian, I will not let my honored guest suffer any insults. β
Varian nodded at King Terenus, dissipated the light in his hand, and returned to his seat.
Terenus looked at Aiden and said slowly but firmly, "Although the kingdom of Azeroth was destroyed by the orcs, I have promised His Highness Varian that we at Lordaeron will fully support him in rebuilding his country. β
Under the gaze of Terenus, Aiden looked away, and Terenus continued, "And this time with Lord Lothar and they are some battle-experienced soldiers, all of whom have personally experienced the war against the orcs, and these combat experiences are very valuable to us. β
"Finally, I have one more point to note, and that is that Lord Lothar is not a stranger to us either."
"Oh?" Everyone in the audience had puzzled expressions.
"He is a descendant of Soladin the Great and the only descendant of the Arathi lineage, so I think he is qualified to sit here and advise us."
Several kings were shocked by this incident, but they did not expect that the noble Arathi bloodline still had a descendant alive.
"Then your Excellency Lothar, you don't want to take back this land from us." Aiden seemed respectful, but in fact said with a slight mockery.
"Of course not." Lothar replied, "When my ancestors left here, they gave up ownership of the land. β
The Arathi bloodline was just a symbol of Lothar's status, and he would never be naΓ―ve enough to think that someone else would give him territory on that basis alone.
King Terenus said, "Lord Lothar can bring us the support of the High Elves of the North, and according to that ancient contract, the Elves will come to the aid of Sauradin or his descendants in times of need. β
Varian said, "Yes, we have sent messengers to Quel'Thalas in the north to make contact with the elves, and it is believed that news of them will not be long before they are heard." β
Kings know that the High Elves are a magical race with great power, and that the Kenrito Council of Dalaran has a High Elf prince serving as a councilor.
If Lothar were able to summon the High Elves for assistance, their chances of victory would undoubtedly increase greatly.
Then there was a discussion about the orcs, and King Terenus rose from his throne and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is now noon, and I have prepared fine food, and I invite you to move to the banquet hall, and we will all have lunch together." β
