Chapter 207: The league's No. 1 point guard
Every team has a championship heart, and so does the Heat.
In the eyes of the Heat coaching staff, they only have two enemies in the East, one is the Bulls and the other is the re-emerging Pacers. The team is now thinking about how to have home-court advantage against the Pacers!
As for the Knicks?
It's not the terrifying Knicks of last year, and it's hard to even get a playoff spot, so why be afraid?
"Audience friends, welcome to the Heat's away game against the Knicks, now that the Heat are in, all the Knicks fans booed the Heat's head coach Pat Riley." MSG (Madison Garden) narrator Mike Brin said.
Walter Fraser said: "I believe many fans remember last season's playoffs, we were eliminated by the Heat by disgraceful means, the first two games of this season Knicks against the Heat, we lost, I don't know if this Coach Lee can take revenge!" โ
Mike Brin said: "We have a good chance of winning, and the Knicks were in good shape in April and haven't lost so far. Once Coach Li wins in a row, no one can stop him. โ
Fraser nodded: "That's right, the Bulls, Pacers, SuperSonics, Jazz, Lakers, we have all won the top teams in the league, as long as we beat the Heat, we can complete the top three in the East and West!" โ
Mike Brin said: "The word kill is a bit excessive, it should be said that we have wins and losses with the top three in the East and West!" โ
Fraser laughed and said, "Other strong teams have won and lost against us, but Larry Bird has never won against Li Wei!" โ
"Hahaha!" Mike Brin also laughed, "Your dad has always been your dad!" โ
On the sidelines, the Knicks players entered.
Charlie Ward, the starting point guard of the Knicks, frowned and said hatefully: "The thing I hate the most is losing to the Heat!" โ
In last year's playoffs, it was the Heat's Pยท J. Brown threw Charlie Ward to the ground, which caused a brawl between the two teams and a ban on everyone, and no one among the Knicks' generals hated the Heat more than him.
"That's right, Charlie, we can't lose to the Heat!" Li Wei slapped his hands with him, "Brothers, we have lost to the Heat twice this year, we must not lose again, we want to win for Charlie!" โ
"Win for Charlie!" The Knicks shouted in unison.
After boosting morale, Li Wei said to Charlie Ward: "Charlie, whether you can win this game depends on your performance." โ
"I understand, I promise to guard against Hardaway!" Charlie Ward said.
When later fans mention the current Heat team, I am afraid that the first reaction is Alonzo Mourning. He once beat O'Neal in the shrinking season, became the league's No. 1 center, and won the best defensive team, the best defensive player, and the block king in a row. If it weren't for the sudden kidney disease, the heat of the early 21st century would have flourished for a few more years.
But in fact, the most popular superstar of the Heat this season is not Mourning, but Tim Hardaway.
In the nineties, there were two Hardaways, one was "Penny" Anfernee Hardaway and the other was "Beetle" Tim Hardaway, both of whom were playmaking defenders, and fans in later generations may not be able to tell the difference.
"Penny" Anfernee Hardaway is 2.01 meters tall, plays point guard with the height of a small forward, is the popular king of the league, Jordan's successor, we have introduced it earlier, so I won't say much.
Tim Hardaway is not as popular as Penny Hardaway, and he is only 1.83 meters tall, a head shorter than Penny, but he is also the top superstar in the league.
In '89, Tim Hardaway was drafted by the Warriors and was deeply loved by then Warriors coach Nelson Sr. After a year of growth, the second-year Beetle showed his superstar appearance, and with Chris Mullin and Richmond (who later transferred to the Kings and became a King's celebrity), they formed a TMC running and bombing combination that made the entire league tremble!
That year, the trio averaged 72.5 points per game and led the Warriors to their best score in nine years. Mullin ranks 8th in the league in scoring (25.7), Richmond 10th (23.9) and Hardaway 11th (22.9), and the team's total is also the highest in 23 years (116.6).
The old Nelson is actually forced to run and bomb, in this era when the interior is king, the gorgeous Warriors have not been able to go far in the playoffs.
In order to compete for the championship, the Warriors in '93 smashed the pot and sold iron, traded the top pick, and selected super rookie Chris Webber, which is finally worth the inside.
Unfortunately, Chris Webber and Nelson Sr. were incompatible, and finally Webb was sold to Washington, and Nelson Sr. was fired by the Warriors owner.
And then there's the Tim Hardaway tragedy. He had a feud with the Warriors' newly hired head coach Adelman and was sold to the Heat!
The Warriors have since fallen into the abyss of a rotten end, Adelman was also hired last season, and this season, their superstar Sprewell almost strangled the new head coach Callesimo.
The West Coast is crying, and Pat Riley, the "God Operator" who has just taken charge of the Heat portal on the South Coast, has completed the rebuild in only half a season because of the robbery from the Warriors to Tim Hardaway, plus the previous robbery from the Hornets to Alonzo Mourning!
In the 96-97 season, Penny Anfernee Hardaway has been playing with injuries, and although he dragged a broken leg to bring the Magic into the playoffs, his results were not good enough, and he was only selected to the third team in the league. Beatle Tim Hardaway took advantage of the momentum and was selected to the league's first team with the Heat's excellent record!
That's right, the two guards on the league's first team last season were Michael Jordan and Tim Hardaway, who is only 1.83 meters tall!
At this year's All-Star Game, Tim Hardaway received the most votes in guard behind Jordan and Penny Hardaway to finish third in the East. If the Heat are in the West, then the All-Star starters won't have Kobe.
Of course, even if he was not selected as a starter, the Beetle was still an All-Star substitute, and as for his teammate Mourning, he didn't even get a substitute.
"Charlie, Hardaway is a guard in the league, and the guards in the league are him except Jordan, and it is not an exaggeration to say that he is the number one point guard in the league, if you really can't prevent it, don't force it." Li Wei deliberately provoked.
Charlie Ward snorted coldly: "If it's Penny Hardaway, then I really can't prevent it, Tim, see if I don't guard him off!" โ
Ward does have the confidence to defend against Hardaway, he is not afraid of collisions and dares to fight, but the height disadvantage is too great, only 1.88 meters.
But the Beetle Hardaway is shorter than him, only 1.83 meters, and he will be afraid to see hell!
Li Wei patted Hardaway's waist approvingly, then turned to Garnett and said, "Kevin, do you remember what I told you yesterday?" โ
"Remember!" Kevin Garnet nodded.
"Just remember, it's up to Charlie on defense, and it's up to you on offense, don't let me down!"
