Chapter 522: How to understand etiquette if you don't understand people
When he came to the living room, Confucius was still the same, and after a weekly ceremony, he sat down to eat. Anyway! His every move was carried out in accordance with the rules of Zhou Li.
When everyone saw the virtue of Confucius, they all despised it in their hearts.
In Lao Tzu's place, although he also talks about "Zhou Li", he is not confined to Zhou Li, and he is not bound by the cumbersomeness of Zhou Li. Everyone also gave up, but! The amount of bending when you give it up is very casual. Anyway! Just get the meaning.
Confucius is not like this, the hand is the hand, and the action is very standard. The amplitude of the bending is not sloppy, and it must reach the specified angle. Eating is not casual, and it is also necessary to pay attention to weekly etiquette.
Zhou Li stipulates that you can't eat first when eating, and you must wait for the host to invite you. You can't eat big or small bites when eating. You can't eat this dish and eat that kind of dish, and you can't eat just one dish, and the other dishes don't move the chopsticks. You can't finish it before anyone else, and you can't finish it after someone else. When eating, you can't blindly watch others eat, and look at it is impolite......
Anyway, if you follow the weekly etiquette, you won't be able to eat this meal, there are too many rules and regulations. If you meet an elder who doesn't like you, just eating is such an ordinary thing, you can go to the 1st line, and you will be killed.
In front of Zhou Li! Your small action may violate the rules of Zhou Li. Just such a small action, a small action that you don't even notice, can anger a big person, and others think that you are disrespectful to him.
This is the refined Zhou etiquette, which is not a ceremony at all, and has completely become a means for people with high status to suppress people with low status.
People of high status, they can be above ordinary etiquette. And for those of low status, all the weekly rituals you must follow.
There was nothing to say during the banquet, and after eating, Lao Tzu and the others sat on the spot and did not move. If you want to move, you just cross your legs, cross your legs in place, and enter the state of cultivation.
Fang Jishi also learned from Lao Tzu and cultivated cross-legged. He was only responsible for bringing Confucius to the Zhou Tibetan Room and getting to know Lao Tzu. As for how Confucius "greeted" or "asked" to Lao Tzu, he couldn't care.
Chang Hong also followed Lao Tzu's example, practiced cross-legged, and no longer played up his music.
After Zhang Shanfeng put away the tableware, he cleaned it. After washing, I also came to the living room and practiced cross-legged.
Chang Hong's entourage and other guards who were not on duty also followed the example of their masters and practiced cross-legged.
Confucius practiced for a while, and when he saw that everyone had no intention of waking up and talking, he quietly got up, entered the Zhou Tibetan room, and continued to look at his "Zhou Li".
Confucius's every move was under the "surveillance" of Lao Tzu and Zhang Shanfeng. Lao Tzu and Zhang Shanfeng both watched Confucius's every move through the kung fu of opening the eyes of heaven.
Seeing that Confucius was reading the book on Zhou rites again, Lao Tzu was so angry that he wanted to attack. He cursed again in his heart, but! This time he didn't scold him for being a bull. Rather: rotten wood cannot be carved!
About an hour later, seeing Confucius reading again, Lao Tzu withdrew from his cultivation state. And then! He walked out of the living room lightly and went to the Zhou Zang Room.
When he entered the door of the Zhou Library, he closed the door with his hand.
Zhang Shanfeng followed, and when he saw Lao Tzu close the door of the Zhou storage room, he retreated back. returned to his original position and practiced cross-legged again. Anyway! If you don't go to the scene to see the excitement, he can still see the situation at the scene.
He knows! Lao Tzu was very unhappy, and when he went to the Zhou Tibetan room, he must have to train Confucius again. In his heart, there was that feeling of schadenfreude.
He didn't look at Confucius's jokes, but! It's completely a child's psychology of "thinking it's fun".
Ever since he learned the Tao from Lao Tzu, since he thought he had attained enlightenment, he had become like this, like a child who didn't grow up. Lao Tzu taught him: In this world, only children are happy! Adults are unhappy! So! We must learn the psychology of children in order to live a happy life.
What is life? Life is a life-long process!
Everything in the world is just a process of life.
Even the earth, the sun, the stars, and so on, are just a life process, and if there is no one, there will be no more. Of course! That's just the result of Taoist theory.
When the lives of these Dongdong will end, no one knows. It can also be said that human beings may not be able to calculate it. Because! Humans definitely don't live as long as they do. Human beings are just a species on the earth, and they are very small.
After having this kind of thought, Zhang Shanfeng didn't want to get married, and felt that it didn't make much sense to get married and have children. Anyway! People are meant to die, aren't they?
But! Lao Tzu scolded him and said! Getting married and having children is a part of life, and without this content, your life would not be complete. Can't get married and have children, that's a special reason, and you can't force it. You're an able-bodied person, why don't you go and experience this part of your life?
In fact! It's not that Zhang Shanfeng doesn't want to get married and have children, but! He was reluctant to leave Lao Tzu. He said that he didn't want to get married, which he followed Lao Tzu's words and derived. He felt that following Lao Tzu's side was like following his father's side, very happy and without trouble.
Lao Tzu came to his seat and sat down, his eyes looking at Confucius.
When Confucius heard the sound, he raised his head and looked at Lao Tzu with an embarrassed expression. Put down the bamboo slip in your hand, and get up and bow down again.
Lao Tzu waved his hand and said, "Those false sets, you better put them away!" Your heart! I don't really respect my Li Er sincerely, so why bother to superficial the situation and make superficial articles? ”
"Zhou Li said: ......"
Confucius was about to explain: Zhou Li said: How?
Those who disrespect themselves should also be prostrate. Because! The identity of the other party is there. Meaning: not to bow to you as a person, but! A salute to the nobility of your status.
This! Lao Tzu is naturally clear. So! Lao Tzu interrupted and said, "If you don't understand what a person is, how can you know what etiquette is?" ”
In the later book "Zhuangzi", Zhuangzi also quoted this sentence.
You don't know what a person is, how did a person come about, why do people live, what do people live for? How do you know what etiquette is?
What Lao Tzu means is: If you don't understand what a human being is, it's useless for you to learn etiquette.
"That? What do you mean, sir? "Confucius was calm on the surface, but! But the heart is very impulsive.
He could hear it from Lao Tzu's tone and question, and Lao Tzu was accusing him again, saying that he didn't understand what a human being was? So! He asked rhetorically on the spot.
"Learn to be a man first! To be a real person, not a person who is not dependent on others, an independent person. Only after understanding what a person is, can we know how to get along with others and what etiquette is. I don't know what a human being is, how can I know what etiquette is......"
