Chapter 20: Finding Clues
Tim was sneaking out and his injuries... Well, in the eyes of ordinary people, it is a serious injury, after all, there are three broken ribs and some cracks in the leg bones. But he didn't have much time to lie in bed and recuperate for half a year.
He didn't know who to talk to about it, Jason's name was a taboo that was never mentioned, and Dick occasionally referred to him with "he".
It's like a lie that everyone wants to tell the truth, and everyone knows it's a lie but no one is trying to expose it. Pretending that the boy never existed will prevent him from disappearing.
When Tim first arrived at the manor, he was surprised that there was no sign of the boy in the entire Wayne manor. He even wondered if the boy wasn't on good terms with Bruce, until he saw the uniform in the Batcave.
The tattered uniform, still stained with dried blood, sat in a nitrogen-filled display post, which Alfred said was a reminder of the worst mistake Bruce had ever made.
Tim had never been very clear about Jason and Bruce's relationship, and Jason didn't have a legal document to confirm their identities like Dick or himself and Bruce.
What exactly is Jason to Bruce? He had expected to see the answer on Jason's epitaph. So he went to Jason's graveyard, on a hillside in the Wayne family cemetery, just behind the grave of Bruce's parents.
The clean tombstone simply bears the epitaph "Allies and Partners," a vague title that encapsulates the name that has nothing to do with Wayne Boy and Bruce. Wayne's simple relationship for a lifetime.
ใA Trustworthy Soldierใ
Tim couldn't ask Bruce himself, only the others. Zatana said she wasn't very clear, Barbara's eyes were red before she could speak, Alfred just laughed and changed the subject, only Dick was lying on a dripping beast that night, and after thinking for a long time, he answered his question.
Tim thought Jason was a guilty mistake for Bruce until he officially became Tim. Wayne checks into the manor and discovers the room in the manor that will never be opened.
The room was no different from the other rooms in the corner of that floor, but Alfred never went in to clean it, the door that had never been opened was like a door that only he could see.
It took him a moment to find the key to that door, in Bruce's room.
Only after opening that door did he realize how wrong he had been.
That's just an extension of a lie, pretending that he doesn't exist and he won't leave, pretending not to love him won't be so sad that he collapses because of his loss.
Tim knew it wasn't good, but he stole a key to the room anyway. When he encounters something confusing or frustrated, he will go there for a while. In that room full of dust and white cloth, there was a quiet moment with "the boy".
Although he did not take the title and uniform from his predecessor, he swore that he would never disgrace the title of Robin, and he has been working hard for it.
So who is the man with the "Jason" face? What exactly was his purpose in coming to Gotham? What did he come for? For the sake of Bruce?
"We'll have to find that guy before Bruce finds out!"
With a thud on the accelerator, the motorcycle sped up and headed for a drug dealer stronghold he knew.......
Tim crouched on the roof, observing the movement in the window opposite. This is a stronghold of drug dealers nicknamed "Earth Dog" that he knows. The drug dealer is only the lowest level in the drug dealer chain, and there may be three or five people under him. According to common sense, it is impossible for this kind of guy to have the information he wants, but this guy has been Wright's peripheral drug dealer, and he is the kind of guy who has a typical rich family and no fixed territory, and this kind of person must have some extraordinary skills if he wants to survive in the Gotham underground rules, especially in intelligence.
The binoculars showed that there were only two people in the room, one of whom was that he was trying to find the guy, and the rest was supposed to be his subordinate. Soon the man left the room, and the only thing left in the room was the guy he was looking for.
He took out his hook and found a suitable place, and in a swing, he came to the window of Martinez "Earth Dog" from the roof where he was originally located, and slipped in through the window with a vacant space.
When Martinez came out of the kitchen with his coffee, he noticed that there was suddenly an uninvited guest in his room. Subconsciously wanted to shout, but was coerced by a sparkling stick to release any sound.
"Martinez, I have something to ask you"
"Oh, didn't the old bat come with you?"
The earth dog glanced around, making sure that only this short Robin was in the room, and his originally upright heart was slightly relaxed, and the whole person slowly moved towards the cabinet next to him against the wall, where his gun was placed.
"You'd better stand still, I'm not sure it's a very comfortable thing to be hit by a 50,000-volt current."
Tim knew exactly what Martinez was up to, and spoke out to stop Martinez before he could reach within distance.
โ... Why, the black mask has been taken away? So it's starting to be our turn? โ
Martinez wasn't stupid enough to experience the 50,000-volt blow for himself, and instead tried to provoke the young boy with mockery. It's a pity that Tim has never been the kind of person who will provoke the law, and he pouted and said with a mockery:
"We haven't yet, but I think someone will soon be picking you up."
The more Tim thought about it, the more he felt that his guess about Red Hood was correct, Red Hood definitely wouldn't let these guys go, and it was only a matter of time before they were cleaned up.
Sure enough, hearing Robin say this, Martinez was silent for a while and then asked:
"What the hell is Batman doing, how can you allow that guy to move freely"
Looks like Tim has pressed the corner, and Red Hood is really starting to do something to these guys.
"That's what I'm here for, how much do you know about the Red Hood?"
Tim moved the stick out of the way a bit to avoid accidentally incapacitating the family from speaking.
โ.... Not much, just know that he suddenly appeared one day, and then integrated some of the biggest drug dealers in Gotham"
"Are the biggest drug dealers his guys?"
"Yes, and then we started absorbing those of us who were struggling between the big gangs"
"Do you know his purpose?"
"Who knows, maybe it's for turf, but there are also rumors that there may be a war with Black Mask"
"Do you want to go head-to-head with Black Mask?"
"Then I don't know... But I don't want to be cannon fodder, so lately my people have been hiding from those guys."
Tim thought after hearing Martinez's words, Red Hood didn't look like the kind of person who would engage in large-scale fights in the past, and he had to go head-to-head with Black Mask, and the power of these drug dealers alone was probably not enough, and the Black Mask guy's sphere of influence could fight a small-scale war. Of course, it is also possible that the drug dealers are acting on their own, and these are not the meaning of the red hood.
"By the way, boy, I've heard that this Red Hood seems to hate Batman, and I'm afraid he'll find you too"
Martinez's words were filled with the sound of the safety bolt being pulled open, which woke Tim, who was lost in his own thoughts.
Dodged the first shot with a roll, overturned the sofa in the living room and hid behind, looking for a way to retreat.
"Little ghost, it's dangerous for you to come here alone without that bat monster, do you know how much you can sell for in the dark web? There are quite a few people who are interested in what is under your uniform, and even if I don't sell you, I'm sure I can get some profit by handing you over to Red Hood..."
Tim crawled behind the couch and listened to the filthy noise tormenting his eardrums, all the while also enduring the sharp pain coming from his body, which seemed to hit the wound again.
There was also a cacophony at the door, and it looked like Martinez's horses had returned.
Tim glanced at the nearby window, his injured leg and chest would definitely affect his jumping power, but there was no time for him to find another route.
Martin's pistol was supposed to hold about ten rounds, but he hadn't fired since he hid behind the couch, and it didn't seem to have many bullets inside.
Must rush out of the window in one go. Tim took aim at his target, leaping from the ground almost the moment the door was opened, and jumping out of the glass window in a few gunshots.
As soon as he exited the window, he immediately launched his hook and quickly dragged himself away from it with the power of the rope.
"Catch him, I think he's hurt!"
Tim's movements caused the guys to wonder, he wasn't hit by the bullet, but his wounded bones seemed to get worse. Enduring the severe pain, he ran towards the place where he hid the locomotive.
"Tsk, it's so badly hurt"
Tim was looking too highly at his injuries, probably in the action he had just taken another blow to his injured ribs and leg bones, so much so that he now almost seemed to be dragging his legs.
The voice behind him is getting closer and closer, the "hunter" will never let go of the injured "prey", he must hurry up and think of a way.
A car suddenly blocked the entrance of the alley in front of him, and after seeing the familiar outline of the car, Tim sped up and ran over, the door of the car opened just when he arrived, and the way of entering was completely different from that of a normal car, so Tim had to endure severe pain to climb in, and he no longer had the strength to jump over the high threshold.
The doors closed quickly, and the super high performance made the Batmobile speed increase instantly, and it disappeared from the alley in an instant.
"Sorry, Bruce"
Tim apologized to the man who was driving without saying a word, but unexpectedly received no answer.
