Chapter 301: The Story of Quirinus Quirrell
Winter is moving away from Devon in March, the temperature is warming, the snow is beginning to melt, and the muddy ground is full of sprouts, and the earth is rejuvenated.
A young man in a trench coat appeared without warning, stepped his teeth back into the dirt, and walked slowly towards the house not far away.
With a creak, the door of the house was pushed open.
"Looks like we need to find time to fix it. The young man muttered. He walked straight to the kitchen, hung his damp trench coat on the hanger by the fireplace, pulled out his wand from his pocket, and rekindled the fire.
A small black snake emerged from the pocket of the young man's trench coat and came to the fireplace to roast the fire.
It was not yet time for the snake to wake up from hibernation, but the young man had no good idea, for he preferred to possess the snake rather than the rat.
The young man's name was Quirinus Quirrell. Not long ago, he returned to England from a trip around the world and is currently preparing to go to Hogwarts to apply for a position as a professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts.
This time, Quirrell didn't come back alone, he had one more by his side.
Or rather, a snake.
Possessed by the little snake, he has many names: the one who can't even mention the name, the Dark Lord, or...... Voldemort.
Yes, the famous Voldemort.
Of course, as a sign of his deference, Quirrell kept calling him Master, which was the Death Eaters' name for the Dark Lord.
As much as Quirrell had never liked it, he needed to look respectful, at least on the surface.
At the moment, Quirrell is trying to learn more magic techniques from Voldemort to make sure he never becomes a laughing stock again.
He sat in his armchair, looked at the fire in the fireplace, and took a long sip of black tea, the flame beating in his eyes, just like his emotions now.
Nothing is the same anymore.
Quirrell, who was once a Hogwarts student, was very weak and was always teased and teased by his classmates, and he was tired of being like that and vowed to change all that.
Shortly after graduating, Quirrell hoped he would be able to take up the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts professorship, knowing that many people were terrified of the profession because of the rumored curse, but Quirrell felt that it was nonsense, and felt that he could overcome the so-called curse and make everyone look up to him.
However, Dumbledore did not immediately agree to Quirrell's offer, but instead suggested that he travel the world to gain more knowledge, and then come back to him when he returned.
Over the years of traveling the world, Quirrell gradually developed an interest in the dark arts. Theoretically, of course, he soon realized that theoretical dark magic was as ridiculous as he had ever imagined himself to be a formidable dark wizard.
Eventually, Quirrell began to fantasize that he could track down Voldemort and even learn more magic tricks from him.
He changed his travel goals and went to the Albanian forest, where legend has it that Voldemort hid, but no one knew if it was true.
However, to Quirrell's surprise, he did encounter the legendary Voldemort, who was currently forced to live in the body of some small rodents, and was quite weak.
To Quirrell, it was ridiculous. He also realizes that his fantasies may come true, and after Voldemort convinces him to become a member of the dark forces, Quirrell expresses his desire to learn more magic from Voldemort, and in exchange he can help him recover.
As expected, Voldemort agreed to the deal.
This made Quirrell complacent, believing that the legendary Dark Lord was nothing more than that, believing that he was capable of mastering Voldemort.
As long as you can learn the superb magic skills of the other party, you can definitely become an impressive and powerful wizard, and no longer be as small as many people. He was tired of being ordinary, tired of being slighted and ridiculed, and he wanted to be an existence that everyone looked up to, like Dumbledore and Voldemort.
As for Voldemort, the down-and-out Dark Lord will be nothing more than a bargaining chip that can be discarded at will, and he can even give it to Dumbledore.
During his travels, Voldemort did teach him a lot of magic, but Quirrell sadly found that he could only master a small part of them, but they were enough to make him a powerful wizard.
For the rest of his travels around the world, Voldemort stayed with him.
The two sides would occasionally make small talk, and Quirrell, though dismissive of most of Voldemort's words, had to admit that some of the other party's words were true.
There is no good or evil in the world, and the Dark Lord, known to the world, is only using violent means in the process of fighting for power.
Voldemort never thought he had done anything wrong, that powerless people were nothing but incompetent, and that incompetence was a sin.
This made Quirrell feel the same way.
When Voldemort promised to take control of the Ministry of Magic, he would give Quirrell his rightful place as a reward for helping him recover his body.
At that moment, Quirrell was tempted, if Voldemort was his backer, everything would be different again.
From then on, Quirrell began to be instructed by Voldemort and carried out his orders, and it is undeniable that Quirrell's style of conduct has benefited Quirrell a lot.
Voldemort also told Quirrell a number of secrets, including the fact that the legendary alchemist Nicol Lemay was still alive, and the existence of the Philosopher's Stone, which could make people immortal.
He told Quirrell that he needed the stone to guarantee immortality, and that Quirrell would be rewarded with a large amount of gold.
With Voldemort's help, Quirrell spent a lot of time finally finding Nicol Lemay's place in Paris, France, but the other party seemed to be aware of their prying eyes and hid in the safe house, not allowing them to succeed.
Soon, Dumbledore arrived, and Quirrell never dared to show his face, but only kept himself behind his back by controlling Muggles to spy on Nicol's residence.
However, something that left Quirrell depressed happened again, and Nicol Lemay, with the help of Dumbledore, disappeared without warning.
Quirrell and Voldemort struggled to find the clue again, Nicol Lemay settled in Devon, and the place where he lived was protected by the Loyalty Charm, they couldn't find him, and the secret was Dumbledore.
Quirrell had been monitoring Nicol Lemay's house for a long time, occasionally seeing Dumbledore who came to visit him.
The other party has also discovered his existence, but they can't be sure who it is.
While Quirrell and Voldemort were considering how to get the Philosopher's Stone, the situation changed a bit, and it was said that the Philosopher's Stone might be hidden in Gringotts.
This is the result of his torture of a goblin.
It was not easy to steal the Philosopher's Stone from Gringotts, and Quirrell needed to make sure that was true, as Dumbledore already knew that someone had set his sights on the Philosopher's Stone and was likely to set a trap for him.
Moreover, Gringotts is very well defended, and almost no wizard can steal anything from Gringotts and get out of it.
Quirrell was saddened to find that he didn't have that ability, and Voldemort seemed to think so, trying to train him to be a good helper.
