Chapter 60: Potions class
Friday was a pivotal day for Albert.
The trajectory of the moving staircase and the passage of some parts of the castle will change today. In order to avoid getting lost on the way to the cafeteria, they decided to go to the cafeteria with other senior students.
"What classes do we have in the morning?" Lee Jordan put two sugar cubes in the milk cereal and asked George beside him.
"Two Potions classes in the morning," Albert said after clearing the sausages from his plate, "with the Slytherin students." ”
"I remember the Potions professor as Snape. George said suddenly.
Snape ...... Oh, the one Albert wanted to take a picture of him last time?"
"What is it?" Albert looked at Lee Jordan suspiciously.
"Didn't Snape say he was going to ask you questions?" Fred reminded.
"Oh, you guys said that, it should be fine. Albert also deliberately flipped through the book last night, and he can remember most of the contents of the book, as long as it is not very tricky, he doesn't have to worry about it at all.
"I remember Snape as if he were the head of Slytherin. ”
"Yes!" George whispered, leaning his head over, "Everybody says he only favors his own students, and never gives extra points to a house student other than Slytherin. ”
"Be careful, he's staring at you!" Albert said softly.
George was startled by this, he quickly retracted his head, looked around carefully, but did not find Snape's person, he knew that he had been deceived, and glared at Albert dissatisfied, "You guy......"
"Why can you make such a joke in a serious way?" Angelina tiredly walked over to their side and sat down, looking at the laughing group of people and shaking her head, "It's a terrible day, I'm lost, I almost can't find the place in the restaurant." ”
Albert turned his head to Angelina and said, "I heard you've been a Quidditch backup, congratulations." ”
"Thank you. Angelina looked at Albert suspiciously, she also learned about Albert from Lee Jordan, and also knew that Charlie was interested in pulling Albert into the Quidditch team.
However, the other party doesn't seem to care about his position, and it is likely to be snatched by himself.
"Don't forget to bring the things you'll need for Potions class later, and we'd better not be late, don't give Snape a chance to trouble us. After Albert finished his breakfast, he took out another copy of "A Thousand Magical Herbs and Mushrooms" from his backpack and began to flip through it.
The Potions classroom is located in a basement somewhere below the castle. They entered through another door in the foyer and went down the staircase to the bottom of the castle, which was colder than the main castle above.
They walked into the classroom and found that the Slytherin students had arrived first.
The Potions classroom wasn't huge, but it could accommodate at least two dozen students. The walls around the classroom are lined with glass jars soaked in taxidermy, which will creep the faint of heart.
"It feels a bit like a corpse soaked in formalin in biology class. Albert sat next to Lee Jordan, looked at the glass jars around him, and couldn't help but complain.
As Albert looked around the classroom, he noticed a storage cabinet in the corner, which might contain various ingredients that students might use to make potions, or the book Advanced Potions Making that belonged to the Half-Blood Prince.
From the podium, Snape looked down at the students entering the classroom, and behind him was a blackboard full of ingredients and recipes for potions for scabies.
Albert looked up to meet Snape's gaze, smiled politely, and looked away, a pair of cold, empty dark eyes that made Albert feel uncomfortable.
Soon after, the bell rang for class.
Snape picked up the roster, and when he saw Albert's name, he paused for a moment, then withdrew his gaze and continued the roll call.
"The preparation of potions is a delicate, rigorous process, and many people would not believe that it is also magic. Snape's voice was cold, like a winter wind, and the cold face combined with the emotionless voice made the students in the classroom afraid to be naughty in class.
"Every year, I always meet a few stupid fools who burn through the cauldron. Snape looked around at the students in the classroom and said coldly, "I don't expect you to truly appreciate the beauty of potions, I just hope those fools aren't among you." ”
After Snape's opening remarks, the class fell silent.
"Anderson!" Snape suddenly said, "What do I get if I add daffodil root powder to the wormwood infusion?"
Albert exchanged glances with Lee Jordan and stood up with a shrug, he could feel the whole class looking at him, but he was not nervous at all, and answered Snape's question neatly:
"Get a very potent sleeping pill, and its name is Life and Death Water. ”
"If I asked you to find me a piece of bezoar, where would you find it?" Snape strode over to Albert's side, exerting an invisible pressure on him.
"The bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a cow and has a strong detoxifying effect. Albert said with a blank face.
"Then what is the difference between scapular aconitum and wolf venom aconitum?"
"Aconitum scaphomorphi and Aconitum lupus are the same plant, also collectively referred to as Aconitum aconitum. ”
"Copied from the book as it was," Snape said contemptuously, "but it's basically correct." ”
Albert sat back down, and it seemed that he had successfully passed Snape's question.
Lee Jordan next to him quietly gave a thumbs up, and Fred and George behind him both forced themselves not to laugh.
In fact, they all guessed Snape's problem, and it didn't bother Albert at all.
"What are you waiting for, why don't you write it all down?" Snape returned to the podium and turned to the group.
The classroom was filled with the rustle of quill pens and parchment.
"You've eaten the whole book?" Shanna whispered, admiring Albert's ability to answer Snape's questions.
Anyone with a discerning eye could see that Snape was making trouble for Albert.
Albert didn't answer, just raised his index finger to his mouth and made a quiet gesture, then raised his hand and pointed at Snape.
Snape stared at Shanna unhappily and said indifferently, "Don't talk in class, Gryffindor has a lot to say." ”
In fact, Shanna was definitely not the only one who spoke, and the Gryffindor students were already aware that the Potions Professor was targeting their house.
Just now is a prime example of this, Albert's answer was perfect, at least in other classes, other professors would have given Gryffindor at least five points, but Snape had not.
It was said that Snape was only partial to his own students, but now it seems that this is not a lie.
It didn't matter if Albert added points or not, he was secretly looking at the Potions professor in front of him, and compared him with Severus Snape in his memory:
Emaciated, hooked nose, gloomy enough, and greasy hair?
Well, the hair may have just been washed!
To sum it up in Tom's words: Snape really doesn't look like a good guy.
