Chapter 4: Out of place

Bruce never thought that living in isolation was a good idea for a child. So whether it was Dick or Jason, he insisted that they go to private school.

“.... I don't think I'll like this place."

Jason sat in a luxury elongated car, grumbling depressedly. He liked Alfred's teachings, which made it easy for him to understand things that he couldn't otherwise understand.

As the exclusive butler of the Wayne family, Alfred is naturally a qualified tutor. But he was 100% in favor of Bruce's decision.

As children grow up, playmates of the same age are essential. No matter how good a private tutor is, there are some things that can only be learned through the school environment, such as socializing.

Jason is different from Dick, who is like a natural socialist, and he will never lack friends wherever he goes.

But Jason is a bit of a trickster, he lives in circumstances that make him have no friends and no need for them. Alfred hoped that Jason could make some normal friends through school.

"I'm sure you'll like it, it's full of kids your age, you're going to make friends"

It was just Alfred's wish, Jason knew it, but he still didn't think he would like that aristocratic private school, which was all elite kids, and maybe he should suggest to Bruce that he should go to any public school......

The car quickly pulled into a quaint gate, drove through a courtyard adorned with ornate statues, and stopped in front of an old building with a certain history.

Alfred takes Jason to an office, where they are received by a fat woman with long slender glasses.

"Hmm.... This is Bruce. Mr. Wayne's new grant of Mr. Jason Todd? ”

The woman flipped through the papers in her hand, then pushed the glasses on her face, and stared at Jason with a sharp gaze through the brown lenses.

Jason's identity cannot be adopted, so he can only use the name of the sponsor externally. But the honorific that sounded very comfortable from Alfred's mouth made Jason feel like the hairs were going to be tied up when it came out of this woman's mouth....

"Yes, Ms. Matthew"

Alfred politely replied to the question.

"Hmm..... Honestly, Mr. Pennyworth, I don't think it's a good idea to transfer now, and he's having a hard time keeping up... Why not wait for the start of the next semester? ”

Matthew for Bruce. Wayne was very unhappy that the person who had stepped in did not pass any tests, and thought that it was not in line with the school rules and unfair to the other students who had been admitted to the school, so he also had this faint irritation with Alfred's tone.

"Lady Matthew, Master Bruce believes that there is nothing more important than giving a child a timely education..."

“.... Okay then, but the final exams are coming up soon, and this school won't be because he's Bruce. Wayne introduced him or had special care for him because of his late enrollment..."

"Of course"

Matthew pressed the silver bell on the table, and soon three rhythmic knocks came at the door, and then a young man in a fitted suit walked in. The hair on his head has a tendency to move closer to Alfred, but it is meticulously combed on his head, and a pair of standard eyes on his face cover the small eyes, and the smell of cologne wafting in the air when the door is opened makes Jason want to cough....

"Mr. Miller, this is Mr. Jason Todd, from now on he will be inserted into your class, you are in charge"

The man turned his gaze to Jason, lifted the frame on his face, and said:

"Ms. Matthew, it's not good to transfer now"

"This is Bruce. Mr. Wayne introduced"

Matthew's words deliberately emphasize Bruce. Wayne's name.

“... Alright then, please come with me, Mr. Todd."

Jason didn't want to go with the man, but he didn't want to disappoint the old man behind him, and he didn't want to disappoint Bruce, so he got up and followed the oily-faced man out of the office.

"Then Master Jason, I'll pick you up when you get out of class"

Alfred's words came before they could shut down.

"Okay, Alfred"

Jason followed the man down a long hallway toward the classroom. Sunlight filtered through one side of the hallway, casting the shadows of the two men on the wall on the other side.

“... Are you interested in these paintings? ”

Miller noticed that Jason had been looking at the paintings hanging on the walls.

“... The paintings are all very good."

Jason casually flattered that these paintings should not be masterpieces. At least he had never seen them in Bruce's study.

"Of course, these are all drawn by students of this school, and if you work hard, then your paintings will hang here too"

The irony in Miller's speech was really annoying to Jason. Jason could see that both the Matthew just now and the man in front of him had a very strong hostility towards him.

It's just that he doesn't know if they're hostile to the Gotham orphan title or to Bruce standing behind him. Wayne.

Even in a tailored suit and couture leather shoes on his feet, Jason felt completely out of place with the place.

He didn't like it, the palatial corridors, the graffiti on the walls, the choking cologne, or the snarky woman just now. I don't know if the same boarding college that Bruce was going to send him to in the first place was like that.

"Here, this is your classroom, it's self-study time, just let your classmates get to know you"

Following the man's footsteps, he unconsciously walked to the door of a classroom, and after a brief introduction, the man pushed open the door and walked in.

"Students, you have a new classmate today"

As soon as Miller's voice fell, Jason could hear whispers coming from the classroom, although he didn't know the rules here, but Jason could instinctively feel the unique identity of this "transfer student".

"Please come in, Todd, and introduce yourself to your classmates."

Hearing Miller's scream, Jason straightened his bow tie on his chest and walked inside, roughly scanning the classroom.

Should it be said that it is worthy of being an aristocratic school? There are only a dozen people, and the ratio of men and women is very even.

"Todd-sama?"

Miller's voice had the feel of watching a play, as if he thought that Jason was frightened by the formation in front of him.

Clearing his throat, Jason said:

"I'm Jason Todd"
