Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Bloodline
Locke crouched down to the corpse of the silver hunter, reached out and pressed it against him, then got up and turned his head to look at the clearing beside him.
"I've seen the young master." Hunters who look exactly like the silver-level bosses on the ground appear out of thin air.
Locke glanced at him, and turned to face the tavern - the slashing was much quieter, and a steady stream of tattered, bloodied creatures came out of it, and it seemed that the defense had succeeded.
However, among the swordsmen, giant axe warriors, rangers, and 5 minions sent before, the swordsman and 3 minions were hanged, and the three bandit knights on the street during the day lost two, plus the two level 9 bandits who were hung up. In other words, there is also a level 10 knight, a level 15 assassin, a level 15 great axe warrior, a level 16 ranger, and 2 level 11 minions and a level 40 hunter Beckman.
The loss is a little bigger, and if those guys don't hang up, they can be combined with the assassin in the system's skill bar to improve the strength of the assassin.
But let's see how many unlucky people died at the hands of the [Undead Warriors] later, so that it can be easily co-opted.
Before that......
"I have some questions that you need to answer." Locke instructed the hunter behind him without looking back, and walked quickly in the direction of the tavern.
"Although the young master commands, his subordinates must know everything." The hunter replied in his tracks.
Locke: "Are there any reinforcements in the future?" ”
Hunter: "No. We're just here to scout and if we find out that the town's defenses are too strong, we'll immediately return and ask the church for a team of executors. ”
Locke: "Beckman. Field, is that one of the executors? ”
Hunter: "Yes, young master. I was taken aback when I saw you perform the Executor's unique 'Ghost Walk' - did you co-opt the Shadow Reaper? ”
Locke stopped and turned his head to look at him, who immediately lowered his head and didn't look directly at him.
Locke continued: "This is Beckman's code name? ”
Hunter: "Every executor has a code name. ”
Locke: "Their profession is ......"
Hunter: "It's all hunters." ”
Pursuing strong executive combat capabilities?
A slight question began to arise in Locke's mind: Beckman seemed to be hiding something. Then he asked, "Is there such a thing that he was chased and killed because he quit in the middle of a mission?" ”
Hunter: "Yes, young master. However, I don't know exactly why, after all, the tasks of the executors are highly classified. I got some clues from elsewhere though. ”
Locke: "What clues?" ”
Hunter: "The Church has recently unearthed something useful from a lost dungeon, along with the nobles of Cain and other forces. ”
"Cain? The vampires? When Locke heard this, he subconsciously turned his head to look behind him.
"Vampires?" The hunter looked strange and asked, "Are you saying that the nobles in Cain are all vampires?" With all due respect, young master, I have dealt with them and have not found any problems. ”
Faced with the hunter's question, Locke didn't bother to explain.
More than a decade after Leicester, the city of Cain that Locke knew was nothing more than a ruined castle full of ghostly monsters, and the only living nobles of Cain were their queen, and the others were all slaughtered by the team of executors of the Protestant Church of Servi.
These are the messages that one derives from various documents, as well as from the mutilated corpses.
Why was it massacred? No one knows the specific reason, but Locke found out through various explorations: the nobles in Cain City were originally just normal humans, because when they dug the "Holy Grail Dungeon" with the church, they discovered a useful technology, so they brought it back privately to study, and finally made all the upper echelons become vampires, and the church seems to be greedy or jealous or some other reason, directly swords against their former allies.
It's not clear exactly what that study is, but Locke discovers that the vampires of Cain City are fundamentally different from the bloods he knows: they are not afraid of sunlight, have a strong physique and long lifespan, have a surprisingly high ability to heal themselves and resist blows, and are no different from normal humans except for their red eyes and blood-sucking abilities, including their diet, and the only drawback is that their fertility rate is abnormally low. But in a way, they are more advanced than humans, and they are another kind of life.
And these are precisely the products of processing and research on a certain technology excavated by Cayin City from the "Holy Grail Dungeon", and no one will share such powerful research results, including the former ally Servi Protestant Church.
This is the root cause of their extinction: the puff is not guilty, and the sin of conceiving Bi.
Locke turned around and continued to walk in the direction of the tavern, while asking, "You just said that you don't know very well about the mission that Beckman and they are performing, but you know some clues from the side, what do you refer to?" ”
The hunter replied respectfully, "I heard that a year ago, Cain City, along with the Church, unearthed some kind of divine blood from the dungeon. After a period of research, there has been no progress on the Church's side, but there has been a breakthrough on Cain's side, but they refuse to disclose it. So I wondered, were the executors sent to negotiate? ”
Locke shook his head for a while.
Who is going to negotiate and send a gang of murderous executioners over? And Beckman, they were sent to attack Telisa's village, an ordinary small village worthy of the minions of the church to go there in person? It was clear that the village had what the Servian Protestant Church needed, what was it?
Teresa will be a powerful dungeon boss in the future as an adult, the boss has red eyes, is quite skilled in the use of blood tactics, and has almost the same clothing style as Cain City. Telisa, who is still a little girl, looks beautifully crafted with the bear she is holding, and it doesn't look like a toy that ordinary ordinary children should have.
Is Teresa from Cain? But her eyes are pale blue...... No, the people of Cain City are still human now.
So what if the church sent people to attack the village in order to capture Telisa? Quite possibly! Otherwise, I wouldn't have sent people over and over again to chase and intercept them!
But why the arrest? She doesn't have that ability yet.
Faced with all kinds of questions, Locke couldn't figure out the mystery at once, and he needed to think about it carefully.
"Young master, we have arrived."
