Chapter 63: The Expected (Part II)
It's a bit too far to think about such an ethereal thing now. Wood couldn't play and Done decided to give up too much defence on the road. He decided to start with Albertini and Mikel Arteta in the middle of midfield.
The opposition has already scored two goals on their own home turf, and it makes no sense to go away and try to hold on to a one-goal lead. It is better for Suo to let go of the attack and try to score more than two away goals, so as to offset the away goals of Sporting Lisbon.
So for the past week, the Forest team has been working on attack, with Arteta as the core of the attack, allowing him to organise the attack. Done also took the opportunity to put his vision into practice – allowing Arteta to gradually establish himself at the heart of the team.
Judging from the performances of the last few substitute appearances, Don firmly believes that Arteta here is no different from the Arteta he knows, the strength is still there, the talent is still there, and then he has the potential to build into the heart of the organization. Don had previously worried that his arrival would change the abilities of other players, but now it seems that most of them are still at the level they should be.
After three days of training in Nottingham, the Forest team flew to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. There, there were two days of acclimatization training, familiarization with the venue, and a press conference...... Wait a minute.
From the moment he stepped off the plane and set foot on Lisbon soil, Donn felt all kinds of hostility from the home side. Who told them to scrap Sporting Lisbon's main midfielder in the last leg and mock Pecero so mercilessly in their post-match press conference?
Now, they're going to start their road trip under a lot of pressure.
In the two days leading up to the game, Forest's training sessions were always disturbed by Sporting Lisbon fans on the sidelines. So much so that Chris Rac had to ask the Portuguese side to block the training ground.
On the day of the race, it was even worse.
The Alvalad Stadium was packed, and shrill boos rang out from the moment the Forest players entered. In fact, more boos were directed at Forest manager Tony? Donn's.
Today's Don is no longer the football coach who chased ducks and became a monk two years ago, and it is not the first time that he has been booed by the fans like this, but there is just a difference between fewer people and more people, and there are no tricks. He had long since ignored it. Now his whole mind is on the game.
From the very beginning of the game, the tactics that both sides adhered to in this game were very clear.
Because there are two away goals in hand and only one goal behind. Sporting Lisbon didn't rush the game, but instead used a counter-attacking tactic at home that surprised even the commentators.
Nottingham Forest also unexpectedly put on an attacking formation.
It was as if the two teams had switched home and away.
Forest took advantage of their tee shot from the first seconds of the game to launch an onslaught into the heart of Sporting Lisbon.
But without Roshenbach, Sporting Lisbon has turned defense into a team-wide task – everyone has to be involved in defending, first with the aim of not conceding a goal at home, and then waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.
George? Wood's red card was a ripple effect, and Perzero was well aware of that. The current Forest team does not dare to hold on to that one-goal advantage away from home, and it only takes one goal from Sporting Lisbon to finish them. So Forest will definitely be aiming for goals in this game, the more the better.
Pesero is to grasp the opponent's mentality, first hold steady, and then suddenly launch a counterattack after the Forest team begins to be impatient, and they can defeat the Forest team with only one ball.
Tony? Donn practiced offense for a week, and José? Pecero practiced defending for a week. The two of them are right.
By the end of the first half, the Forest team tried their best to break through the door of the home team, but Sporting Lisbon became more and more courageous in the cheers of the home fans, and the frequent sneak attacks made the Forest backline rumor, and Van der Sar was in a hurry.
After the break, the Forest team continued to attack at the start of the second half. But it's also starting to focus on defense. Don intends to suppress the opponent's offense with offense to play a role that defense can also play.
The score was deadlocked, and Forest's flood of attacks allowed Sporting Lisbon to focus more on defence. As the clock ticked by, just when everyone thought Forest would secure a place in the quarter-finals, Sporting Lisbon scored with four minutes left in stoppage time.
It wasn't Sporting Lisbon who held on for 86 minutes on the counter-attack, it was a corner.
The Forest's defence came loose in the final moments, and Matthew? Epson didn't follow up on his target, and a momentary oversight caused irreparable results.
Sporting Lisbon leads Nottingham 1-0! The scoreline remained in place until the end, with Sporting Lisbon relying on more away goals to knock out Nottingham Forest.
The Forest, of course, did not want to. In the final moments, Donn used up his third substitution, bringing on striker Bendtner and centre-back Epson.
Counting the three minutes of stoppage time, in the final seven minutes, the Forest team actually had only one defender on the pitch, Leighton? Barnes and Zim Bonda received instructions from Donn to stop defending and go all out.
Forest's formation became a very, very peculiar 1333 – one defender, two full-backs moving forward into midfield, and Albertini on the same line.
Donn's style of play is completely defence-free, but despite this, the Forest team did not get the result they wanted at the Alvalad.
When the German referee blew the whistle for the end of the match, the Alvaladé stadium erupted in cheers as Sporting Lisbon players hugged each other to celebrate their hard-fought victory.
The Nottingham Forest players collapsed on the pitch, gasping for breath and watching their elated opponents unwillingly.
Don wasn't upset or upset. Seriously injured in Eastwood and taken to the hospital when George? When Wood was sent off for a revenge injury, the result was already in his mind.
Watch the opponents celebrate their victory, and listen to the cheers coming from the stands at Alvalad's Stadium, wave after wave.
Don turned to David next to him? "I want to ...... You're right, David. I made a big mistake, a very, very big mistake...... Now I'm failing. ”
