Chapter 25: Divine Soldiers from the Sky

Nearly half an hour has passed since the last time I heard the sound of a fight coming from underground. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info

The Iron Wolf Leader shifted his ass a little uneasily, trying to change to a more comfortable sitting position.

He looked up at the moon in the sky, it was already halfway through the night, and if they didn't leave this Yaling ruin before dawn, they might be taken to the realm of the goblins, which was not the result he wanted to see.

He thought twice and beckoned to a few of his men behind him.

"You guys, go down and see what's going on. Don't go too deep, understand? Dezik said to his last men.

The mercenaries nodded their heads, and went to a hole in front of them, and descended one by one along the rope ladder above to the ruins.

Watching them fade from view, Dezik stood up and walked towards the mage behind him.

"Is she awake?" He asked the air next to the female mage lying on horseback.

"Nope." Tuck's voice came from there, and a wave of ripples could be heard in the air.

Dazik touched the weapon at his waist and turned his head to walk back.

"Check your weapons, and the battle is about to begin."

……

Ed hovered in the air, taking in the view below.

The remaining mercenaries of the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group have all entered the ruins, and only Daizik and the hidden "Gray Squirrel" are left on the ground.

"What are we going to do?" Raven reported the situation to his master, and asked.

"We've got to deal with the wanderer first." Randster crouched on the edge of a broken wall, using the torches lit by the mercenary group, carefully examining the terrain where the other party could not see him.

Under Eddard's guidance, he had successfully left the underground ruins a few minutes ago.

"They retreated to the corners of the surface ruins, and it looked like we had to harden up from the front." Ed stopped on one of the branches with the best view, his little eyes flickering.

"There's no need, we just have to wait for them to leave on their own." Ranster stopped looking, lay down in a comfortable position, and closed his eyes comfortably.

"Ed, remember to wake me up for something."

Ranster's guess was not wrong, instead of rushing up to fight and clash with the other party head-on, it was better to wait for the other party to retreat and sneak attack.

Lancet didn't wait long, and his chance was not long in coming.

……

The mercenaries who crawled out of the cave returned to Dazik's side with pale faces, and the tragic death of their own people below made these mercenaries who licked blood with their knives couldn't help but weaken their legs and feet.

"What the hell is going on?" The Iron Wolf Regiment Leader looked at these guys with a frightened expression and asked impatiently.

"They...... They're all dead, Deputy Head Evan and Big Brother Ander ......" A mercenary couldn't help but retch as he recalled the tragic situation below.

"Rubbish!" Seeing this, Dezik couldn't help but kick the disgraced guy to the ground and looked at the other subordinate.

"Deputy Commander Evan and Ander should have been burned to death, the deputy commander only had his upper body left, and Ander was burned to the bone, if it weren't for his armor, we wouldn't have thought it was him......" This mercenary is much calmer than the other guys, at least he can fully describe what he saw.

Dezik's eyes shrank suddenly, and several people heard him gritting his teeth.

"Give me all the horses, let's withdraw."

……

"They're leaving." Leinster leaned on the broken wall to see everything that had happened.

"What do we do now?"

"Surprise them." Lancet jumped off the wall, flipped over his horse and galloped towards the doorway of the Yaling's domain.

Eight fast horses galloped on the way to the exit of the Yaling Ruins, the Iron Wolf Leader rode alone, and the other six war horses faintly formed a circle, protecting the horse in the middle.

The middle horse carried two men, a male mercenary driving the horse, and the female mage with her hands tied behind her back.

The eight horses kept their speed in unison, quickly moving in the direction of the Bright Moon Banner that had flown when they first arrived.

"Something is wrong......" Ranster crouched in the canopy of the tree they had to pass, looking at the Iron Wolf's team with some confusion.

"Sock isn't on the team." Ed apparently noticed something was wrong, too.

"Squirrel is a halfling, and he can't possibly ride such a horse...... So, where are you hiding? Ranster analyzed, his eyes flashing over the seven horses behind him.

He soon noticed that one of the horses ran markedly different from the others. Both the running and the swing of the body are much larger than those of the other horses, almost the same as the middle horse carrying two people.

In other words, the horse was also carrying two people.

"The penultimate horse in the rear on the right, with the 'squirrel' on it." Lancet affirmed, "He must have some magic prop to hide it so well." ”

"Anyway, we're going to have to go as planned." He looked at the approaching team of horses, and bent his knees slightly to prepare to jump.

"Good luck, master." Ed flew into the air and followed the tail of the horse.

As the Iron Wolf's team approached the tree where Lenster was standing, he took a deep breath and jumped off the tree at the right time.

Perhaps the word "jump" should not be used, since Ranster swooped headfirst down.

When it wasn't close enough, no one noticed that a guy was jumping off their heads, and by the time Dezik heard the wind whirring above and looked up, it was too late.

The location of the fall deviated slightly from what was expected, but it did not prevent Lancet from carrying out his plan. He stretched out his left hand, palms aimed at the gap between Dezik and the two riders behind him.

β€œNaur!”

This time the fire spell didn't consume much of Ranster's arcane energy, he only needed to ignite the fallen leaves piled up on the ground, and he had already achieved his goal.

The recoil created by the shockwave of the curse seal was like a shock shield for Ranster, and he fell to the ground and rolled several times before he could remove all the force.

The flames ignited the dead leaves and also affected Dezik's horse, and he quickly jumped off his horse, trying to bypass the wall of fire and reach the female mage he had captured.

But the fire spread far faster than he could have imagined, and the fire burned more and more along the dead leaves, forcing him to retreat away from his men again and again.

Choking smoke also billowed up from the fallen leaves, gradually obscuring his vision.

Before the smoke completely obscured his vision, he saw Lancet smile smirked at himself in the light of the fire in the dark night.

"The taste of being roasted by the fire, isn't it?"
