Chapter 20: The Lands of the North
Lancet frowned, though the Guard Commander didn't say it explicitly, but in his words he had already denied his request to go to the Coldridge Mountains. Pen, fun, and www.biquge.info
It seems that the pass issued by the so-called Lord of the North County himself is not so good either.
"Who is she?" The Commander asked seemingly nonchalantly, gesturing at the female mage wrapped in a fur cloak beside Lenster.
"My lord, as you can see, this is Miss Merry, the eldest daughter of the Harris family, and I am her personal bodyguard." Lancet introduced him, and Moriah made a curtsy salute to the commander at the right time.
The Commander of the Guards glanced up at the two men in front of him as he signed the papers on the table.
"I haven't heard anything Harris...... "He tossed the signed paperwork aside and got up to look out the window.
The atmosphere was a little tense for a while, and Lancet was a little confused about what kind of medicine was being sold in the commander's gourd.
Through the heavy snow falling like goose feathers, a vague figure came to the side of the war horse tethered to the door by the female mage, and her hands flashing with magic light slowly pressed on the horse's back.
It wasn't until the man had done all this in an orderly manner and his figure slowly disappeared into the snow that the Commander of the Guard turned around and picked up the pass on the table and threw it to Ranster, who had been waiting for a long time.
"I don't know any Harris, but I don't want to embarrass you, Damien of Northshire is an old friend of mine." He sat down and took a pleasant sip of the hot tea on the table, waving his hand at the guard at the door.
"Let them go, but don't let this damn weather delay Miss Merry's time."
Following the guard all the way to his warhorse, the two glanced at each other, and both saw the puzzled look in each other's eyes.
"What the hell is going on? I thought the man saw something......" Untying the reins of the warhorse, the female mage asked in a low voice.
"Let's talk about it later." Lancet helped Moriah onto his horse, then took the reins of the two horses and walked towards the iron gate.
The snow showed no signs of stopping, and stepping on foot-deep snow, Lenster led his horse to the guards of the Iron Gate.
"You're going out? Right now? The guard asked in disbelief as he took the pass from Lancet.
"We're in a hurry." Lancet replied indifferently.
"Well, it has nothing to do with me." The guard walked to the door with a muttering voice and waved the flag at his waist towards the wall.
"Open the doorβ"
With his shout, the heavy iron gate let out a heavy rumble and slowly lifted upward.
The wind swept in with icy snowflakes, completely obscuring Ranster's vision, and the sound of the guards almost swallowed up by the wind and snow came to his ears.
"Welcome to the North!"
β¦β¦
The two horses marched deep and shallow in the snowy north, and a short distance in front of them saw a pile of pillars made of stones, guiding the direction of the passers-by.
"Maybe we shouldn't come out now." Moria was almost lying on the horse's back, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to maintain her figure.
"We're running out of time, Miss Merry." Lancet glanced at the female mage beside him, who quickly understood what he meant.
"Hopefully I'll make it home alive." Moria's mouth cooperated with Lancet and cast him an inquiring look.
Ranster made a silent gesture to the mage and began to think about the actions of the commander in the Northern Fortress.
The Commander of the Guards was clearly stalling for time.
But for what?
Lancet carefully recalled the other party's every move at that time, and the memories in his mind were frozen in the image of the commander looking out the window.
It was snowing heavily outside the window, and he was limited in what he could see, so he wouldn't be too far away. There was only one thing that could be seen from where he was standing at the time, except for the iron gates of the fortress - his own and Moria's horses.
Thinking of this, Lancet pointed to the mage with the warhorse beneath her. Moria instantly understood his intentions, took off a glove, and the magic in her hand began to slowly seep into the warhorse beneath her.
Soon the female mage sensed that a small circle was hidden on the back of the warhorse. She didn't know what the circle did, but she was sure it wasn't a good thing.
Seeing the female mage nodding calmly, Lancet knew that he had guessed correctly this time. The fact that the people of the Northland Fortress had really manipulated their horses showed that even if their identities were not revealed, they had already aroused the suspicion of the other party.
Lancet mounted up to the mage's side and held out his arm to her. Knowing that, Moria's outstretched hand moved from her own horse to Lancet's side.
Adjusting her sitting position slightly, she injected her magic into the rune warhorse's body again.
There was not a trace of fluctuation in the horse's body, and the female mage let out a sigh of relief and patted the back of Lanster's hand.
Rune War Horses are different from ordinary horses, and it is not something that can be done for a while if you want to inject a new magic circle without destroying the runes on the warhorse's body itself.
Morea's action reassured Lancet, who immediately let go of the reins of the unridden horse and slapped it the horse's back, causing it to run in the other direction.
"They're already suspicious of us?" Watching the horse disappear into the blizzard, Moria asked in a low voice, "Did they find out who I am?" β
Lancet frowned, he hadn't let the female mage use the slightest spell in front of people, where did they get the news?
Moria had only used spells in the Church of Mara and the Catacombs occupied by the Cape of Dread, but the battle had been between the two of them......
Two people...... Wrong!
He remembered that there was another person there at the time.
Lanster couldn't help but curse in a low voice, but he didn't expect that he would ignore that person.
"Erica Roman." He sighed and said the name of the girl who had been trembling with fear in the church.
The female mage also remembered the girl who was forcibly taken out of the church by herself, when she did use the mage's hand.
Damien had also said that they had been able to find out that they had received a message from Erica, so if she hadn't intentionally or unintentionally revealed the identity of Mage Moria, how could the Guards have arrived at the Catacommodanes at that time?
It seems that the overseer mage Loris must have guessed that he and Moriah are survivors of the trial party, and if they were to catch a female mage, her fate with the blood of Aukus would not be much better than that of Andy Reed, who had become a lich.
Maybe it could be worse.
