Chapter 35: Merodi the Merchant

Previous Chapter

After speaking, the female pastor gently wiped the cold sweat oozing from the man's face, and then gently held his hand, seemingly indifferent to everything around her.

The witcher, who had been paying attention to Gareth, raised his eyebrows, and he noticed that the burly strong man beside him subconsciously clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.

It's kind of interesting.

Lancet pursed his lips, his impression of Gareth changed considerably. It was evident from his actions that the words and actions of the priestess had taken a toll on him, and Lenster almost believed that it was all a natural part of Garris's self-reproach—if it weren't for the resentment that flashed in his eyes.

He hated this man, and the reason was obviously this woman.

Ranster slowly glanced at the faces of the three men with interest, but wisely chose silence.

This was originally something that had nothing to do with him, and he naturally wouldn't be stupid enough to get involved in such a kick.

Leaving the priestess, Gareth introduced him to the owner of the shipment, Merodi, a farmer in Starcity. This polite middle-aged man did not show the slightest sense of presence from beginning to end, as if the Starfire Adventure Group was the owner of this batch of goods.

"Melody, thank you for your help." The mustachioed man performed the standard general salute, and his posture was extremely fluid.

"The merchants of Starstar City will never let a warrior like you pay for nothing, and this is my compensation for you, Mr. Jaime." As he spoke, he took out a money bag from the box in the back of the van and handed it to Leinster.

Randster flipped the money bag in his hand, and had guessed seven or eight points in his mind about the value of the contents in his heart.

The heavy bag and the jingling coins inside, he knew there were at least fifty gold coins in it.

It's really a big businessman with a lot of money.

Lenster respectfully smiled at the bag of gold coins, and got to know the rest of the group in turn.

They are Harold the human ranger, Roy the warrior and Waters.

This is an adventurous team with a very standard class configuration. In the absence of free mage and warlock classes in the Heder Empire and even the entire Mersel continent, this kind of physics class is the basic equipment for the adventure. A wanderer, a ranger, three warriors and a regimental commander lying in the car who does not know the profession, plus a priest, this is the typical physics adventure party.

The wagon was easily lifted out of the chasm and tied to a long-haired horse provided by Leinster and the one that Jeremy was riding, and the team was finally able to move on.

The priestess, Dolan, sat in the compartment with the seriously wounded regimental leader, who had little cargo left. Roy and Waters sat on either side of the carriage, driving it and protecting the two men inside.

Ranger Harold stood on top of the carriage, his eagle flying overhead, scouting the road ahead.

The halfling and the deputy commander sat in the back of the carriage, keeping a scout of the rear of the team.

Lancet and Moriath sat on their long-haired horses, trotting along the group. The speed of the procession is very fast, which also has a lot to do with the seriously injured people in the cabin waiting to be treated.

Merodi poked his head out of the garage, and as the owner of the goods, he naturally had the right to sit in the safest place.

"How long is it until we get to Aden?" Lancet asked him.

"It hasn't been long, we've been delayed here for a long time, otherwise we would have been there." Melody took out her handkerchief and gracefully wiped the sweat from her forehead, seeing that his movements as smooth as if he had been trained less and less like a simple businessman.

"Sissy." Moria, sitting in front of her, muttered quietly, she really couldn't see a man with such delicate manners.

Lancet slapped her ass and glared at Moria.

The mage's face flushed and she was about to make a move, when Melodi laughed beside her.

"Madame is just joking, I don't care, why should Mr. James take it so seriously."

Only then did the female mage realize that her words had been listened to word by word by the merchant, and the anger that had risen disappeared at once.

"Don't be surprised by this woman who has never seen the world." Ranster put his arm around the waist of the woman in front of him and said with a smile.

Melody saw his movements, knowing that this person still cared about his woman, and immediately took the opportunity to say again that he didn't care.

Glancing at the female mage who seemed to be still angry, Lancet smiled wryly at the shrewd businessman, and sped off his horse and ran forward.

It wasn't until he was out of the other's sight that Lancet slowly stopped his horse, remembering the impression that Melody had just made on him.

The opposite personality of rigor and tactfulness blended well in him, and with his ears and graceful gestures, which were much better than those two warriors, Lenster felt that this was not at all a height that a businessman could achieve.

"He's really not a businessman?" Listening to Lancet's analysis, the female mage couldn't care about being angry, and asked with some surprise.

"At least not a simple businessman." Lancet looked back at the approaching carriage and began to waver in his mind about his decision to go with the team.

The deputy head of the regiment, who is very likely to be a black hand on his own people, a businessman whose identity is unknown, and a group of goblins that will suddenly emerge at some point, Lancet has decided to leave this so-called team completely after a while.

"Shall we bring the horses back?" Moria asked.

Lancet shook his head, doing so would probably cause the other party's collective disgust, and maybe even lead to a fight, which was not what he wanted to see. It is not so easy for himself and the female mage to deal with so many adventurers.

After a while, the carriage behind him had already come to his side. Melody looked at the two of them with a smile on her face, thinking that he had just gone to a place where no one was there to please her woman.

"Mr. Melody, we just discussed it and decided to go first, so we won't be with you." Lancet glanced at the sulking woman in front of him helplessly, and said with some embarrassment.

The businessman was slightly stunned, as if he didn't expect the other party to say such a thing.

But then he nodded quietly, smiling just as gently as he had just before.

"I understand, I understand. Let's go to the bottom of the grove in front of you, rest a little, and I'll give you some of the rest of the dry food. ”

Ranster glanced at the mild-mannered fellow in surprise, and now that the request he had just wanted to say had already been made by himself, it was just the right time to solve his urgent need.
