Chapter 33: Blue Harbor

Founded in the lower reaches of the Stone Crab River, at the mouth of the sea on the southern shore of the Saint-Furan Sea, Azur Harbor is a harbor town that serves as an annex port to Dawnwind.

After helping Lilith craft her staff, Finn said goodbye to the mother and daughter duo at the Brewery Tavern, and then took Lilith and Arroyo to a stable outside the north gate of Dawnewind and paid a coachman to ride the carriage to Azur Harbor.

Because he had taken the time to help Lilith make a staff, and had also prepared his outfit for the long journey before leaving, it was actually afternoon when Finn and his party sent out in the carriage.

Eventually, when they arrived at Azur Harbor from Aurora, it was time for dinner in the evening.

"Jingle Bell Bellโ€”"

After arriving at Azur Harbor, Finn quickly found a tavern called "Fragrant Snails" with his memories of his past life, and then pushed open the wooden door of the tavern and walked into the tavern hall with Lilith and Arroyo.

As soon as the door was pushed open, a string of silver bells hanging from the eaves made a crisp and pleasant sound, and a cacophony of human voices rushed towards him.

Inside, the drinkers sit around a table, holding a glass full of ale in one hand and talking about their memories with exaggerated expressions, or complaining to their friends about the bad luck of the day.

Merchants sit face-to-face at tables discussing business possibilities, fishermen come to enjoy the best part of their day, and adventurers who come to dine at this tavern from all over the continent whisper their adventures while eating.

In a small corner of the tavern, a wandering bard plucks the strings of the lute with his fingers, and sings the ballad of the southern shore of the Saint-Furen Sea with a beautiful voice, the sound of which is like the sea breeze blowing from the harbor in the daytime, gently and gracefully brushing the cheeks of the drinkers, who occasionally throw a few copper coins into a small basin that he keeps at his feet.

The tavern is always lively, as if the cold temperatures in the evening have little to do with this small shop in Azur Harbor.

"Good evening, three guests, welcome to the 'Fragrant Snails', can I do something for you?" The middle-aged boss standing behind the counter looked enthusiastically at the three of Defen, Lilith, and Arroyo who were walking towards him.

"My friend and I came here for some dinner." Finn found a high chair and sat down at the counter, looking at the boss with a smile on his face, "Excuse me, do you have anything to eat here?" โ€

"Of course, seafood from the southern shore of Saint-Furen is our specialty." The boss said with pride, "If you want to taste the deliciousness, I recommend our chef's best scallops and conchs; If you want to eat a little more, I think a grilled fish per person is also a good choice. โ€

"Then three grilled fish." Fein said.

"Where's the wine?" The boss asked.

"Three glasses of water will do. My friend and I still have things to do, and it's best not to drink. โ€

"Okay. Three grilled fish for a total of 30 copper coins, three glasses of water for free. โ€

"These are 30 copper coins." Finn took ten bronze coins out of his money bag and placed them on the counter table.

"Find a place to sit down first, the water will be brought in a while, and the grilled fish will wait a while." The boss reached out and picked up ten copper coins from the table and said to Finn.

As the words fell, the middle-aged tavern owner turned his head and yelled at the back kitchen, reported the food Finn had just ordered, and then turned his head back to look at the scene in front of the counter again.

He then found that Finn was still sitting on the stool, and had not left the counter with Lilith and Arroyo.

"Guest, do you have any other needs?" The boss asked respectfully.

"I'd like to inquire about something." Finn blinked and said, "Recently, has Redbearded Jackson carried out any more conspicuous criminal activities?" For example, large-scale robbery of merchant ships, or taking advantage of foggy weather to attack ports or something? โ€

"You said the pirates from Misty Island?" The boss narrowed his eyes.

The St. Furan Sea is a large sea area connected to many coastal cities, and the merchant ships, fishermen's boats, and some military patrol fleets come and go along the coast of St. Furan every day, and such a thriving sea area also nourishes a number of troublesome pirate rings.

If a ship sails from the port of Azur Harbor and sails all the way north, it will soon arrive at an island called Misty Island.

On that island, Captain Jackson the Red and his pirates set up their lair, occasionally driving a few pirate ships to rob ships farther offshore, sometimes even raiding the harbor under the cover of special weather to plunder the goods in the warehouses, and at one time being the two villains in the area around Dawnwind along with the bandit leader named Anderson Beast Pupil in the Mottled Forest.

From the diary of the Black Knight Co'Vodgart, Finn learned that the Dark Alliance was trying to attack the city of Azur and Hurengel, and that a vampire nobleman had made contact with Redbeard Jackson, so he asked the owner of the Sweet Snail Tavern about the pirates.

"No, quite the opposite." The middle-aged boss replied to Fein, "The pirates have been surprisingly quiet in recent times, and none of the things you said have happened. โ€

"In other words, Redbeard Jackson and his pirates have completely converged in recent times?"

"Yes." The boss nodded, "The waters on the south coast have been very safe lately, and the Coast Patrol has even spread rumors that Redbeard Jackson may be planning to wash his hands. โ€

โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆ I understand. Fein pinched his chin, then continued to look at the middle-aged man standing behind the counter, "Boss, I still have something I want to inquire about." Excuse me, has there been anything strange around Azur Harbor lately? โ€

"Strange stuff?" The boss had a puzzled look on his face, "...... you mean?" โ€

"Undead, vampires, or other evil things." Finn looked at the boss earnestly.

"Oh, how is that possible?" The boss glanced at the paladin badge on Finn's chest, and immediately couldn't help but laugh, "Young man, you are a newcomer who has only recently been inaugurated as a holy warrior, right?" Rest assured, I can sense your responsibility to protect you, but it's not so easy for the bones of the north to cross the St. Flon Sea to land in our human kingdom, do you? โ€

"That's right." Finn smiled as well, "Sorry to disturb your business." โ€

With that, Finn turned away from the counter and sat down at a small wooden table that Arroyo and Lilith had chosen.

A waiter working at the tavern quickly placed the three glasses of water that Finn had asked for on the table with a delivery tray, and then walked away respectfully.

"My lord, what did the boss tell you?" Not long after Finn sat down, Arroyo took a sip of water from his cup and asked curiously.

"It's not as bad as I thought it would be." Finn's brow furrowed slightly, "Or rather, the people here haven't sensed the impending danger yet. โ€

"What do you mean?" Arroyo was a little overwhelmed.

"That is, it's safe, but it's not normal." Finn took a sip of water, pursed his lips, and explained.

In the memories of his previous life, the underground undead barracks deep in the Melore Mine were discovered by a high-level thief player from the Faentan Empire when the Dark Alliance blitzed Azur Harbor and Hurengue City.

According to common sense, these three events happened almost in the same time period, and the plot of Co'Vogart's transformation of the undead barracks was advanced, so the related plots of Blu Harbor and Hurenger City should also be a little earlier.

So, when the tavernkeeper told Fein that the pirates had been doing well lately, Fein always felt that things were not so simple, and that a larger conspiracy seemed to be lurking behind the illusion of calm.

The feeling was as unsettling as the calm before the storm.

"Fool, you've soiled my sword!"

Suddenly, an angry voice rang out in a small corner of the tavern.

The bustle in the hall of the tavern suddenly took a strange turn, and both the frustrated merchant who was stuffy and drunk and the traveler who was chatting and laughing with his friends noticed that there seemed to be a commotion around him, and the sound of the bard's strings came to an abrupt end.

The innocent drinkers sitting in that corner area stood up and nervously stepped aside.

Finn, Arroyo, and Lilith all stood up from their seats at the same time, turned their heads sideways to look over the heads of the drinkers, and then saw a young man who looked about the same age as Finn and Arroyo, holding a sword in his right hand and a maid's collar in his left hand, with a very angry expression on his face.

"You idiot, you can't even hold a plate! Do you know what good things you've done?! The young human youth wore a light brown linen shirt with sleeves rolled up, and his muscular left arm brought the panicked maid up to him, and the five fingers of his right hand grasped the hilt of a curved sword, the long blade of which was stained with wine.

The wine on the curved sword dripped down the slanted blade onto the wooden floor of the tavern hall.

Not far from the feet of the young man and the maid, the maid had placed a delivery tray and a wooden cup for wine, from which wheat water spilled and spilled all over the ground.

"Yes... Sorry sir. I... I didn't mean to. The maid looked at the young man as if she wanted to swallow her eyes alive, and she was so frightened that she didn't know what to do, and the words that came out of her mouth became stammered.

"Excuse me? I'm sorry, can I be done?! The sturdy young man lifted the maid up a little more, and the pupils of his eyes almost burst into flames, "Damn daredevil, do you know what you stained with your overturned glass?" Yes?! โ€

"I'm sorry, I don't know!" The maid shook her head desperately, tears rolling in the corners of her eyes.

"Bastard!" The young man was furious, and immediately let go of his hand that had grasped the maid's collar and raised his arm in the latter's face.

"Ahh The maid closed her eyes in fright, waiting in extreme fear for the moment when the young man slapped her face.

However, in the next second, the crisp and loud slap in the face did not reach her ears as she thought.

The maid opened her eyes with trembling lips, and found that the young man's slap was frozen in the air, and his wrist was grabbed by another young man next to him.

"You?!" The young man gritted his teeth and stared sideways at the man who had grabbed his wrist.

"Only a coward bullies the weak and fears the hard, doesn't they?" Finn somehow came between the two of them, his gaze coldly staring directly into the latter's eyes.
