Chapter 3: Sharing Suffering
The dragon hovered in the air, sometimes waving its wings to stir up a raging wind, and sometimes opening its jaws to shoot flames.
The military fortress of Ork was in shambles, with Imperial soldiers fighting and dying amid screams, and Finn and the unknown maiden weaving through a stronghold that was constantly reduced to ruins and flames.
Soon, about a minute later, with the memory of his past life, Fein ran to the door of a house with the girl.
"Why, suddenly stopped?" Seeing Finn gasping and stopping, the girl asked.
"You'll find out right away." Finn replied casually, taking a few steps back, and then slammed open the wooden door in front of him and broke into the house.
The room behind the door was simply furnished, with a wooden table and chairs covered with strategic maps in the center of the room, carved wood pieces of the double-headed eagle coat of arms symbolizing the Faentan Empire on the walls, and a standard longsword, a compound short bow, and a quiver containing a dozen arrows on the weapon rack in the left corner.
Finn quickly ran to the weapon rack, stretched out his bound hands and pulled out the long sword, clamped it under his armpit in a very awkward position, and then tilted his shoulders and rubbed his wrist on the blade, and the rope that bound his hands was quickly cut by the blade.
Then, Finn used his sword to pick the rope from the girl's hand and helped the girl loosen the rope.
"Speaking of which, I don't know what your name is." Grabbing the broken rope from the girl's wrist and throwing it aside, Finn said casually, "My name is Finn, can you tell me your name?" โ
"Name...... I forgot. The girl tried to move her wrist, then lowered her head, her long black hair hanging down to her waist suddenly obscured her eyes, "I see, lost my memory...... Who am I, where do I come from, and what am I going to do...... I have forgotten a lot of things in the past. โ
"Huh?" Finn was stunned, "What about the other names?" Like a nickname or something? โ
"I don't remember." The girl shook her head slightly, and then raised her head expressionlessly, "Salutation, is it important?" โ
"Not very important...... Finn scratched his hair, "but it's necessary." โ
"So, can you help me choose a name?"
"Huh?"
"So, can you help me choose a name?" Thinking that Finn had not heard clearly, the girl repeated what she had just said.
As the words fell, the girl raised her cheeks slightly, and her two dark pupils looked at Finn calmly.
Finn blinked, not knowing for a moment what to say to the girl.
"Uh...... Or, Lilith - what about the name? Two seconds later, Finn recovered from the short-circuit and asked by picking a random name.
Lilith...... Well, that's it. The girl nodded.
Seemingly, she seems to have accepted the name Lilith.
"Damn the dragon, we're no match for it at allโhuh? Who are you! Suddenly, just as Fein was about to make his next move, two soldiers with broken bows burst through the door without warning.
For a moment, Finn and Lilith looked at the two soldiers, and the two soldiers looked at Finn and Lilith.
The two sides glanced at each other and immediately recognized each other's identities.
"It's those two death row inmates!" The two soldiers silently reminded their companions beside them, and then immediately drew their long swords from their waists and rushed at Finn and Lilith respectively.
Finn's eyes lit up, and he clenched the long sword he had just taken from the weapon rack and prepared to attack.
In an instant, the soldier who rushed towards Finn picked up his sword and slashed it, and Finn took a step forward almost at the same time as the soldier drew his sword, and his right hand led the sword to make a straight lunge.
In the next second, the side blade of Finn's sword swiped the soldier's neck before the soldier's attack. Fein dodged the soldier's falling body sideways, and three expected system prompts emerged from below his vision:
[Your attack hits the target's vital part, and the attack has an additional effect]
ใFaentan Imperial Soldier Killed by Youใ
ใXP +20ใ
Sure enough, the instant attack worked!
[Soldier of the Faentan Empire, Human/Living Creature, Total Level 4 (Level 1 Civilian/Level 3 Warrior), HP 59/59]
Thanks to the memories of his previous life, Finn still remembers the other party's attribute information.
Although the opponent is a professional soldier with three warrior ranks, most of the military swordsmanship of this era is like a slow-motion replay to Finn, and Finn knows how the other party will make a move with his eyes closed.
Moreover, the standard armor of the Faentan Empire did not have neck guards before the second all-** reform, and races like humans, which lack natural armor protection in vital parts, have their health as if they were useless until the level is increased to immunity.
Therefore, it was not difficult for Finn to take out a third-level warrior with a total level of 4 with the strength of a first-level civilian.
After taking care of the enemy who was attacking him, Finn immediately turned around and prepared to cook the other soldier who was attacking Lilith.
However, the moment he turned around, an unexpected image appeared in front of his eyes.
He saw Lilith raise her left hand with a flat face, five fingers squeezing the air hard, and the soldier who had killed Lilith was now being held in the air by an invisible arm.
The soldier struggled to cover his neck with his left hand, and swung his sword wildly with his right hand, kicking his legs like crazy. Soon, he finally tilted his head, his whole body fell down, and the sword in his hand fell to the ground with a "clang".
Seeing that the enemy had lost resistance, Lilith stopped torturing the other party, and then let go of her hand and witnessed the soldier's corpse fall to the ground with a muffled sound.
"Lilith, you're a wizard?" Confirming that the soldier was dead, Finn looked at Lilith and asked.
If the eye was not mistaken, Finn could be sure that the magic that Lilith had just cast was a spell called the One Ring.
, a ring spell (witchcraft), the caster must maintain the cast action to maintain the spell effect, during the spell effect maintenance period can telepathize with the entity target within the cast range, and the weight limit of the controlled target is affected by the caster's corresponding attributes (e.g. the caster is a wizard, then the higher the caster's intelligence attribute, the heavier the controllable object).
"Wizard?" Lilith turned her head to look at Finn, "Wizard, what is it?" โ
"Huh?" Finn was stunned by Lilith's question again, "You just cast a spell, and you don't even know about it?" โ
"I just subconsciously wanted to protect myself, and then I found a familiar but unfamiliar force at my disposal." Lilith explained, "After that, I tried to apply that power to the soldier, and I lifted the soldier up. โ
"Oh...... I see, you're a warlock. Fein patted his head and reacted immediately.
"Warlock?" Lilith looked at Finn with a puzzled expression.
"Wizards spend a lot of time studying magic, but warlocks have magical knowledge from blood, so they can master some spells from birth." Finn explained, "I'll tell you more about it later, all you need now is to know that you have a mysterious power to protect yourself." โ
With that, Finn walked over to the weapons rack in the room, removed the scabbard of his longsword and hung it on his belt, took off the compound short bow and quiver and carried it on his back, and then walked over to the other wall, reaching out and pressing a bright stone brick into the wall.
As the stone bricks sank deep into the wall, the wall next to Finn suddenly "rumbled" into the wall, and then moved sideways to create a gap.
As the wall moved, a staircase leading to the ground eventually appeared in front of Finn and Lilith.
"What is this?" Lilith looked at the secret doors and stairs that appeared in front of her.
"An emergency escape passage." Finn turned his head and smiled, "Hurry up, I'll talk about anything until I get in first." โ
