Chapter Twenty-Five: The Shadow of Egwen
In Rollin's view, all life is humble under great power. However, no amount of powerful energy can overshadow the brilliance of life. Honoring the redeemed orcs, Rollin leaned down and closed the orc's eyes with his left hand, which had drained the arcane energy. Then, a flame lit up, and Rollin freed his soul, hoping that in the realm of the dead, he would once again return to the place where he saw at the last moment of his life.
Walking two floors in this spire, Rollin felt the heaviness of life completely. Whether it was the elven soul he had seen earlier, or the orc warlock who had been corrupted by evil energy in front of him. The war changed everything for them, and perhaps they didn't want to choose this path at first, but the world turned its back on them and let them go down this path.
Rollin admires them, at least they haven't turned their backs on their world!
Regrouping his mood, Rollin continued to walk from the twentieth floor to the nineteenth floor.
With magical divinity on the outside and data analysis by the omniscient eye, Rollin discovered something in this layer that contained subtle arcane energy. Specifically, this subtle magical energy is different from pure arcane energy, it is more like a thin arcane network, a defensive network drawn from arcane energy.
Of course, on the nineteenth floor, in addition to this special arcane defense energy net, there are also a large number of Burning Legion demons lurking here. Compared to the demons of the twentieth layer, the demons here are of a higher level and more powerful.
Walking down the stairs, Rollin saw the iconic objects on this level by the light of the fire that surrounded him. Tall bookshelves lined up neatly and densely packed with books on the shelves. Walking to the bookshelf near the staircase, Rollin smelled another smell of damp decay in addition to evil powers. When these books, which had been buried at the bottom of the sea, returned to land, there was no sunlight shining on them, and they smelled of dampness throughout.
Not caring about the current state of these books, Rollin pulled an ancient book full of elven characters from the shelf. This is a book about the ancient city of Sulamah. This book systematically introduces the beliefs of the ordinary elves of the city of Sulama and the origin of the Sisterhood of Elune. Flipping through the book cursoryly, Rollin could vaguely ask about the politics of the Elune Sisterhood. The author of this book clearly describes how this organization of faith was transformed into a political organization and completely replaced the upper elves in the ruling position of ordinary elves.
In this book, Rollin sees the ambitious side of Tyrande's style. Although this is the author's side of the story, Rollin still treats it as a very objective thing. After all, in this world, there are not many pure heroes.
In the palace where Sargeras's body was kept, it was a bold idea to read quietly, and not only Rollin thought so, but also these demons.
The demon, who felt the temperature of the flame magic element, slowly approached Rollin. Ten hellhounds and a Dreadlord of the Nasrezm clan surrounded Rollin.
"An elite-level Dreadlord?" Rollin put the books back in their place, and when he left the shelves, he didn't forget to tidy up the books he had just messed up.
The language was incomprehensible, but for a creature with intelligence, the Dreadlord could clearly see the contempt that the creature wielding magical energy showed for them legion creatures.
The tall Dreadlord roared, his broad black palm swinging heavily, and the hellhounds surrounding Rollin received orders from their controllers.
It's moving! These swift, fanged hellhounds pounced on Rollin's body from various positions. These hellhounds have always liked to fight in groups, and their favorite thing to do with the lower creatures of these legions is to attack the hostile creatures in groups and then tear their bodies apart together.
Obviously, this type of attack is not suitable for magicians. Rollin was just a blink of an eye, and his body, which had been in form, was completely transformed into arcane in an instant. Before the hellhounds could sense what was happening, the arcane energy from the shattered arcane energy had shattered them to the ground.
The Dreadlord who was standing in place was also shocked, he had seen such a powerful arcane energy before. But he didn't see it in this world called Azeroth.
He was the powerful arcane power he had seen while Warping the Void was battling the Titan Guardians.
The smarter and more intelligent creatures are, the more they will know the preciousness of life. The Dreadlord flinched, unleashing some of his demonic shadow spirit spells, and attempted to attack the magic-wielding creatures in front of him by channelling the chains that filled the air. He hopes that in this way, he can win a chance for himself to survive!
Such an idea was good, but Rollin did not give him a chance to live.
In order to ensure that he would not be infested by more demons in the eastern area of this level, Rollin unleashed an arcane burst spell that pierced the heart of the Dreadlord of Horror.
Instead of destroying the demonic creature's body, Rollin walked over to the Dreadlord's corpse and inserted Goshracher into the mangled body. The silver-white blade flickered slightly, and the light of evil energy was instantly swallowed into the shattered hilt.
Removing Goshracher from the Dreadlord's body, Rollin probed the artifact in his hand. He discovers that the evil energy he has absorbed since the last time he purified the Scepter of Sargeras has reached a peak point. Through calculations and data correction by the Omniscient Eye, Rollin could predict in advance that if he killed ten more elite legion demons above the rank of elite, he would be able to know the special skills that Goshracher could use.
However, at present, Luo Lin is not in the habit of finding nineteenth-layer demonic creatures. He was on the east side of the nineteenth floor, and began to search for the special arcane defensive barrier he had sensed when he first came to this level.
With the unique way of resonating with arcane energy, the ring arcane circle floating in Rollin's hand senses the source of the release of the arcane energy web. As long as Luo Lin got closer to the source of this arcane energy release, the ring circle in his hand would emit an extra dazzling light.
Soon, Rollin was able to find a hidden arcane energy behind a bookshelf.
When Luo Lin saw the faint light shrouded in the rich evil energy, Luo Lin was glad that he could use the probing circle in his hand to find its existence.
Vaguely able to detect this glimmer of light, Rollin re-injected arcane energy into a magic circle.
Like an old machine, it is re-energized by additional energy. The arcane circle has been reactivated.
Rollin activated the arcane magic matrix, and he took a few steps back, clearing the way for the circle to shine again.
"Kenrito's magic eye?" Rollin frowned. It was hard for him to think that there was such a magical matrix in this spire.
In the history that Rollin now knew, this ruined ruin of an ancient elf had been sunk by Egwene to the bottom of the road. The mother of the Last Guardian killed Sargeras's weakened body after transforming into a plane, and stored it in this palace wrapped in evil energy.
In this simple history, there is no mention of Kenrito, nor is there any mention of the human magic king. It was only the Council of Tiris, which was difficult for Rollin to understand.
While studying at Quel'Thalas, Rollin also learned about the Tirisfa Council. This organization was born before Kenrito of Dalaran. After that, the group didn't have much to do with Dalaran's Magic Kingdom. But Rollin was here, in the palace where Egwene had arrived, and found Kenrito's Magic Eye.
Could it be that the magicians of Kenrito have also been here before?
Quite incomprehensible. After thinking to no avail, Rollin tried to find other information in the circle that was casting the arcane energy web.
Getting closer to the circle, Rollin touched his left hand to the sign that Kenrito floated above the circle. The eyes, which belonged to the magic sign of Dalaran, immediately spread out after being touched. It was under the control of the magician.
"This is the defense network that Egwene once set up at the tomb of Sargeras, and it is now ineffective." Through this single arcane circle floating with the Kenrito logo, Rollin sensed that there were other arcane circles around this spire, and they all built this energy vein.
However, through the interpretation of the information of the magic circle, Luo Lin was surprised to find that this special energy defense network had only been cracked in the past few days. Previously, there were additional arcane energies that powered these circles.
Rollin, who was also able to use divinity to control magic, understood this way, and he found the remnants of divinity that remained in the circle and infused them with arcane energy to revive it.
Rollin's approach was quite successful, after infusing these remnants of divinity with arcane powers. A whisper from the circle, awakened from the circle.
This reactivated divinity is linked to the mind of another magician? Rollin thinks so.
Things weren't going to go the way Rollin thought, though. Compared to what Luo Lin had thought, the runes of the magic circle engraved on the floor shimmered with a pale blue magic light. This time, instead of appearing, Kenrito's logo appeared, but a very primitive retro magic inscription lit up. The illuminated magical inscriptions swirled and writhed, emitting pure blue energy, which soon converged into a humanoid whole.
"Your Excellency, I can't be sure of your identity yet, but I would like to ask you a few questions. I'm confused about the problem right now. Rollin said.
"Egwen, this is the afterimage I left at the tomb of Sargeras. Glad to meet you, the illustrious Magister from Quel'Thalas. Egwen's Shadow didn't mean what she asked, but she greeted Rollin anyway.
Guardians? Rollin frowned and said, "Rollin, an ordinary magician. ”
Egwen's Shadow appreciated Rollin's modesty, and the corners of her mouth were slightly raised as her face fused with energy, "Every living creature has a different understanding of magic, and so do we humans. Don't look at your current strength, perhaps, you have surpassed all the magicians. ”
It sounded like a very profound sentence, but Rollin understood what Egwene was trying to say.
"That's why I'm here." Rollin nodded.
"This is where only Guardians can reach, and I'm amazed at what you're capable of. Young Magister. Egwen said.
Rollin shook his head and smiled peacefully: "In Azeroth, the only one who can truly protect the world is himself. The so-called Guardian is nothing more than a position in the Council of Tirisfa, and without magical energy, he is just an ordinary person. If he was lost, perhaps he would have become an even more terrible demon. ”
"You seem to know a lot of things." Egwen's Shadow asked.
"Curiosity and exploration are the most fundamental qualities that possess the control of magical energy." Rollin replied calmly.
Egwen's Shadow nodded, and she stepped out of the circle and said to Rollin, "I believe what you say. Guardians are nothing more than the 'spearheads' of Tiris's special spellcasting rituals, and only the first generation of Guardians can truly be called Guardians among magicians who can truly be called Guardians. Such heroic leaders are rare. ”
"Understood."
"Ask, I'll do my best to answer your questions." Egwen's Shadow got the answer she wanted.
Withdrawing his left hand that had touched the arcane circle, Kenrito's magic symbol reappeared, and Rollin looked at this Kenrito symbol and asked, "Guardian, the magician of Dalaran has also been to this place?" Why is their magic logo here? ”
Egwen's Shadow smiled and said, "This Kenrito logo doesn't belong to the current Kenrito Council. However, I can't tell you what lies behind this sign right now, and to find out, you'll have to go to Dalaran yourself. ”
Pretending to answer mysteriously, Rollin continued to ask, "Guardian, do you know that Sargeras's body has been transformed into a rift, and this rift is constantly introducing the demons of the void to the world of Azeroth. ”
"I feel it, but my current strength can't stop this rift from expanding."
"So, you know how to close this rift?" Rollin asked.
Egwen's Shadow said, "Yes, but that's the duty of the Guardians. ”
"Everyone is a Guardian, a Guardian of Azeroth. So, don't stick to the word anymore. Luo Lin said anxiously.
The shadow of magic shook slightly, and Egwen was smiling, "You look more like a human mage now." I see something other than your calmness. ”
