Chapter 23: The Darkmoon Council
The Stone Crab River originates at a high peak in the Moork Mountains, flows through the Ellro Plains, and finally empties into the St. Flen Sea through Teurewind's affiliated port, Azur Harbor.
The Sea of St. Fern is a vast sea connecting the Farentan Empire, the Violet Kingdom, the Duchy of Grey Fir, and the Dark Alliance. If anyone had clairvoyance to see through all the sea fog, then that person stood on the highest lighthouse in the Azur Harbor and looked north, and he could see a kingdom of the dead standing on the northern shore of the St. Furren Sea.
The official name of the realm of the dead is none other than the Dark Alliance.
The picture travels across a vast and distant sea to the northern shore of the Sea of St. Fren, where the Dark Alliance, established in the northern part of the continent of Ferdia, is ostensibly a united federation of the undead, but is actually divided into three relatively independent factions.
The three factions that make up the Dark Alliance are and a necromancer organization called it. The current Blood Queen Cosette protects the interests of the Vampires, the Skeleton King Leoleda rules over all the dead under his command with his iron fist, and the Lich Konstantin has supreme authority over all internal affairs.
The Dark Alliance was able to be established because the vampires, the dead, and the Scourge would find that no one could swallow anyone after a period of open and dark fighting, and finally all parties relented and compromised, and established the Dark Moon Council, the supreme authority of the Dark Alliance.
There are a total of thirty council seats, with 10 members each of the Vampires, the Dead, and the Wizards of the Calamity, and each meeting must be attended by the Blood Queen Cosette, the Skeleton King Leoleda, and the Lich Constantine, thus overseeing the meetings of the thirty undead councilors representing the interests of their respective factions.
This time, too, was no exception.
Co'vogart's scythe is inlaid with one bound to its soul. After Finn killed Co'vogart in the depths of the Melol Mine, the Last Word Crystal shattered automatically, sending the news of Co'vogart's death far back to the Dark Alliance, thousands of miles away.
Constantine, the lich, dressed in a black wizard's robe, sat in a plush chair in the chamber of the Darkmoon Council.
It lowered its head slightly to gaze at a magic crystal ball in its palm, and soon after that, it witnessed Finn pierce Co'vogart's chest with his greatsword.
"Co'vogart is dead." Konstantin raised his head and announced in a tone without a hint of emotion.
As soon as the lich's words fell, the thirty undead councillors sitting around the round table in the center of the conference room had been arguing quite sharply for a second, but now they were all shocked by the information that Konstantin had just announced.
Konstantin turned his head slightly, casting his gaze to the other end of the conference room.
As far as the lich could see, Skeleda wore a crown on his head, a rich velvet robe, and five bony fingers with jeweled rings on his right hand supporting an intricately crafted golden scepter, and his undead skeletal body still sat calmly in his seat, as if he did not feel sorry for the loss of a Black Knight to the Dark Alliance.
However, among the three leaders within the Dark Alliance, the Queen of the Blood Clan, Cosette, who led the vampire camp, quickly showed a wicked smile on her face.
The queen of the blood, Cosette, wore a shawl with long hair and a small black dress, and mischievously snuggled her petite body into a comfortable chair.
She looks like a cute little girl, but none of the undead in the Dark Alliance would dare to disrespect her because of her appearance, because they know that the little girl of Cosette is nothing more than a disguise to let your guard down.
"Leoleda, don't you feel any pain when one of your black knights died in vain?" Cosette wrapped her fair legs around her flat, soft breasts, leaning lazily back against the back of the plush chair, her two crimson eyes looking at Leoleda with a playful look.
On the surface, Cosette seemed to care about the camp of the dead, but judging by the tone of her voice, Konstantin felt that she was laughing at Leoleda, and the phrase "Don't you feel sad at all" seemed to be okay with interpreting it as "Look at the waste you have cultivated".
"Co'vogart is dead, and I don't need to feel a trace of regret for something that has become irreparable." Leoleda opened its bony chin and replied to Cosette in an oppressive voice.
"Really?" Hearing Leoleda's answer, Ksette pouted in disappointment, "Hey, that's why I think you and Konstantin's bones and heads are really boring, and I can't even understand a little joke." ”
With that, she glanced coldly to the side, as if she was not planning to say anything more on the subject of Co'Vodgart's death.
Anyway, the Black Knights are all undead warriors under Leoletda's command, and their deaths have little to do with Cosette's tenet of protecting the interests of vampires, and the Lori Queen, who has a bit of a little devilish personality, just wants to use this topic to tease Leoleda.
After Cosette's words fell, there was an awkward silence in the room of the Darkmoon Council, and the thirty undead councilors sitting around the central round table didn't know what to do for a while.
A few minutes ago, the thirty undead councillors were still discussing a strategic plan that was vital to the Dark Alliance.
That plan is currently being implemented in the first phase of the overall process, with the ultimate aim of laying the strategic foundations for a long-planned and protracted war.
In order to accomplish this plan, the vampires, the dead, and the Calamity wizards have all dispatched an elite from each side to the human kingdom in the south to establish a frontline stronghold.
Among them, Skeleda ordered the Black Knight Co'vogart to go to the Melore Mines to transform a nest of the dead called the Carrion Labyrinth into an underground military camp, the Blood Queen Cosette sent a new vampire baron to establish a new Blood Territory in the area around Azur Harbor, and the Lich Konstantin sent one of his most important necromancer apprentices to the Violet Kingdom as a secret envoy on a secret mission.
However, now it was better that Co'vogart said that he would die, and the thirty undead councillors suddenly realized that the plan they had carefully formulated with the three leaders in the conference room some time ago had only just been executed in the first stage, and a third of them were bankrupt.
If this plan can't even be completed in the first phase, then what's the point of arguing about the follow-up?
You must know that the Dark Moon Council is the highest authority of the Dark Alliance, and this room was not set up to let the three adults of Cosette, Leoleda and Constantine watch their thirty councillors fight!
Suddenly, while the thirty undead councilors were struggling to think about their contingency plans, the two soul fires in Skeleda's eyes shook for a moment, and then he opened his mouth to break the silence in the conference room.
"Konstantin, how long is it until the date of the Great Demon Tide?" Leoleda turned his head slightly, looking at Konstantin, the leader of the Wizards of the Dead.
"Even the best prophecy spells can't be absolutely perfect." Constantine replied rationally to Leoleda's inquiry, "Counting the errors, I can assure the Darkmoon Council on behalf of the Wizards of the Scourge that the Great Demon Tide will also descend on the continent of Ferdia in six months at the latest. ”
"Six months...... Leoleda raised one of the bony fingers in his palm and tapped the head of the Golden Scepter, then shifted his gaze from Constantine to Cosette.
Cosette curled up like a kitten on the cushion of the plush seat.
She saw Leoleda face facing her with the white bone face of 10,000 years of facial paralysis, the corners of her mouth curled slightly, and then she threw a mischievous wink at Leoleda with a blink of her red eyes.
"Yo, handsome and great Skeletron, is there anything you want to say to me?" Cosette deliberately feigned a seductive tone and asked Leoleda Dao.
"How's the situation on Baron Kilrivers' side?" Leoleda had apparently grown accustomed to Cosette's wicked little devil personality, so she didn't care at all about her teasing words, and only asked questions related to business.
Kilrivers is the vampire baron that Cosette sent to the area around Port Azur.
Like the Black Knight Co'Vogart, the young vampire baron was on a mission at the behest of Cosette to travel to the Azur Harbor on the southern coast of St. Fren.
Leoleda had no nostalgia or interest in the past, and the Skeletron had an eye on the future, so he was more concerned about the two men sent by Cosette and Constantine than the death of Co'vogart.
"Oh, you said Kilrivers?" Cosette blinked, then waved at Leoleda with a relaxed expression, "Don't worry, that kid from Kilrivers sent me a letter yesterday saying that everything is going well on his side, and that the notorious pirate captain on the southern coast of St. Fern has reached a cooperation agreement with us. ”
"And what about you, Konstantin, how are your men doing now?" After receiving a reply from Cosette, Leoleda looked back at the lich whose body was encased in a black robe.
"Similar to Baron Kilrivers, Murfus has completed initial contact with the high-ranking personnel of the Demon Shepherd Sect in the Violet Kingdom, and everything is going well." Constantine replied to Leoleda, "Although Murfus is still only a wizard's apprentice, he has a lot of potential and a very smart brain, and he never needs to worry about anything I have given him. ”
"I see." Leoleda nodded in satisfaction, and with his left hand, he lifted half of the velvet robe in front of him, revealing a pair of bronze armor hidden under the velvet robe.
Then, it grabbed the long handle of the golden scepter in its right hand and stood up from its seat.
The vampire queen Cosette, the lich Constantine, and the thirty undead councillors of the Darkmoon Council all turned their attention to Leoleda's striking tall body.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the death of Co'vogart will not affect the overall course of the plan, and the territory of the Dark Alliance will not be confined to the northern shore of the St. Flon Sea because of the death of a black knight." Leoleda looked directly at the round table in the center of the conference room, and the thirty undead councilors around the round table, and declared in a dignified tone, "All of you here are nobles in the dark, and our opinions will determine the future of the Dark Alliance. If there are no objections, I would like to see our plan go ahead as we originally intended, and the boundaries of the Dark Alliance will expand to the southern shores of the Sea of St. Furon on the day the Great Demon Tide falls, and beyond! ”
As the words fell, the soul fire in Leoleda's eye sockets burned fiercely, and any high-ranking undead with an independent will could feel the arrogant and lofty ambition of this Skeleldal from its eye sockets.
The thirty undead councillors of the Darkmoon Council sat up straight in unison, knowing that Leoleda had already spoken to them.
Leoleda decided that Co'vogart's death was irrelevant, and that the Skeletron, who had made all the Black Knights of the Dark Alliance bow down to him, thought that the first phase of the plan would be enough to remain as it was, and that there would be no need to make temporary changes to the follow-up of the first phase of the plan.
Ten Skeletal Councillors representing the Dead immediately voted in favor of their leaders, while the other twenty members from the Vampire Camp and the Wizards of the Scourge hesitated for a moment before agreeing to Leoleda's opinion under the gaze of Cosette and Constantine.
The final conclusion of the Darkmoon Council's agenda item has been decided.
The human kingdom on the southern shore of the Saint-Furren Sea seems to be peaceful, but the undead are quietly taking root there......
