Chapter 98: Determination (Part II)
"Raymond, what's wrong with you?" In the astonished eyes of the thieves, Arroyo stood up from his chair in surprise and looked at Raymond, "Your woundsβ"
"Much better." The future Juggernaut gritted his teeth and glanced at him with half-open eyes, his feet continuing to move slowly with the help of the handrails of the stairs.
His face seemed to be a little whiter than before because he had lost some blood, and he was wearing a linen shirt that showed the bloodstained bandage on his chest. Gascoll's blow had pierced his left chest in the previous battle, but luck had favored him at the time, so that the internal organs in his chest were not irreparably damaged, and the blood-colored javelin almost miraculously grazed the lobes of his lungs through the gap between his ribs.
Walking down the staircase, the grumpy young man grasped the curved sword in the sheath with his left hand, let go of the handrail of the staircase with his left hand, and his eyes seemed to be unconcerned about the gaze of others, and then continued to walk straight in the direction of the tavern door.
"Where are you going?" Worried about his companion, Arroyo watched him walk directly in front of his eyes, and then looked at his back and asked.
Although they didn't know how his body had recovered enough to get out of bed and walk in such a short time, the members of the Brotherhood of Thieves watched Raymond limp to the door of the hall and stretched out their hands to open the door to go out, and several people immediately tried to go over and persuade him back.
Suddenly, just as Arno and Scott were about to call him back, the future Juggernaut reached out and grabbed the handle of the main entrance to the tavern, his sharp legs as sharp as the tip of a knife, turning his head and sweeping the entire hall.
The people in the hall of the tavern were stunned for a moment, and they felt a very terrifying murderous aura in the eyes of the young swordsman.
Although they knew in their hearts that the murderous aura in Raymond's eyes was probably not aimed at them, they were shocked by Raymond's eyes for a while, and the few people who were about to walk over to persuade Raymond to come back a second ago did not have the courage to approach him on the spot.
The scene suddenly fell silent, and the atmosphere was a little awkward.
After the embarrassment. It was the sound of a slamming door and leaving. Raymond walked out of the house in this way, Arroyo looked at the back of his companion a second before he left, and then the members of the Brotherhood of Thieves came back to their senses, and then ran out with their legs.
β¦β¦
The alleys of Greyhound Street were dark, and the place outside the tavern was as dark and oppressive as ever, but there was no sound around it except for Raymond's footsteps. It was as if the Nightspawn killers had never been here at all, or that the ghostly professional assassins had invaded and evacuated the tavern without leaving a suspicious trail on the way to and from the tavern.
The future Juggernaut struggled to fully open the two eyelids that were still half-covering his gaze, and the faintly painful wound in his chest forced him to free one hand to gently cover the bandages wrapped there, and his feet in a pair of travel boots continued to move despite his not optimistic physical state. He stubbornly raised his head and peered straight at the spire of the castle towering in the night, the cool air of the night slipping past his ears and sending a voice that followed him into his ears: "Wait! β
It was a timbre and vocal line that he knew very well.
He stopped, then turned his head sideways, and sure enough, he saw Arroyo chasing after him from the direction of the tavern.
"Hey. Raymond, where do you want to go with this body that hasn't even healed well? Arroyo caught up from behind, gasped for breath, and asked him in a persuasive tone, "What are you thinking?" β
Raymond looked sideways at the young thief with whom he had spent a lot of time, his sharp eyes looking directly into the latter's eyes, and the expression on his face showed a terrible silence.
He seems to be angry about something.
In the middle of the night, Arroyo pursed her lips and looked at him for two seconds. The future Juggernaut clenched the scabbard in his left hand. Staring at the thief youth, he asked, "What am I thinking?" β
As the words fell, he turned his body completely to look at his companion in front of him. Wrapped in a bandage on the chest up. Get down for a moment, andβ
"Cowardly coward!" Without warning, he roared at the young thief, "You idiot who can't even tell the number of people in your team, haven't you noticed that Tina has been captured?" Are you an idiot! β
"I-" Arroyo's eyes widened and his face froze.
Raymond's sudden outburst of emotion made him stunned for a moment.
However, he was not unaware of the fact that Tina had disappeared since the end of the battle. Coupled with the difference in personality, although he is sometimes not as bold as Raymond, he is still more cautious and rational than Raymond in the end.
So he then took a deep breath and asked the young swordsman in front of him in a calm and serious voice, "Then where are you going to save Tina?" β
"The castle of the Baron Singla, of course." Without thinking, Raymond replied, "I heard what you said in the lobby of the tavern. Baron Singler and the bastard killers colluded with each other, and Tina must have been captured by them and taken to the castle. β
"But the way you look?" Arroyo asked.
"Does that mean it doesn't matter if Tina lives or dies?" Raymond's tone was a little more serious.
"You're misinterpreting me."
"I'm despising your cowardice!"
"That's not right!" The thief youth gritted his teeth. "Raymond, think about the admonition that the Lord told you before parting, you are too reckless! Baron Singler is the lord of Boenigs, and you are ready to single-handedly take on all his private soldiers? Or take out Singlel with another favor from Lachli, and then saddle us all with rebellion? β
"So you're still going to die for Tina, right?" Raymond glared at Arroyo in disappointment.
"I just don't think we should fight unprepared battles." Arroyo struggled to explain to Raymond.
"Then get ready to go with your thief brothers!" Raymond finally didn't bother to argue with Arroyo anymore, and casually yelled at the latter with an almost uncontrollable rage, turned around and prepared to go to the Baron's Castle in the center of the city alone.
The steps under his feet continued to take a new step towards the end of the alley. Suddenly, the young swordsman holding the scabbard felt that the thief youth behind him hurriedly stepped forward and stretched out his hand towards him, and then turned his head sharply, and the right hand that was still used to cover his chest in the previous second "rubbed" and pulled the curved sword out of the scabbard.
Arroyo's eyes widened, and he quickly took a step back, then stood in place in a daze, withdrawing his outstretched hand and looking at Raymond with a look of disbelief as he drew his sword and pointed it at him.
The long blade of the curved sword reflected a cold light in front of his eyes in the moonlight, and the snow-bright arc blade seemed to be an ultimatum given to him by the young swordsman.
Although Raymond didn't really intersect with Arroyo's blade because of the disagreement over Tina, this was probably the uncompromising decision of the young swordsman.
The two had very different personalities, and confronted each other in the dark alley for a few seconds.
After a few seconds had passed, Raymond tried his best to contain some of his anger in front of Arroyo, and then put down the curved sword pointed at the latter and retracted it into its sheath, and dropped a sentence with a blank face: "If it were Finn, at least he wouldn't be as timid as you." β
With that, he turned around and walked on, ignoring the young thief behind him.
Raymond's back faded away in his field of vision, and Arroyo watched the future Sword Master walk away, but did not follow to persuade the former.
Because he stayed where he was after Raymond had said the last thing he had said to him.
"Your Excellency...... At least not as timid as I am? He blinked, his hand lifted forward a little in mid-air, but immediately stopped because of the confusion in his heart.
Raymond's last angry words, which he threw out without much thought of it, happened to hit the weakest part of his heart. For a moment, Arroyo stared blankly ahead, recalling the operations that Finn had led him to in Azur Harbor and Hurenger, and suddenly began to ask himself, "What would an adult do if he were to handle this matter instead?" β
For some reason, he thought that Fain would probably go to Baron Singer's castle in the first place like Raymond - but definitely not as reckless as Raymond.
With a thought of self-doubt, he opened his mouth stupidly, then put down his hand that was still frozen in mid-air and did not stretch out, remembered something, and then lowered his head and took out the noble badge of the Durion family from his clothes.
With the faint light of the moon, he lowered his head and stared at the badge in his hand, his mind blank.
Suddenly, there was a soft touch on his shoulder, and the young thief who had fallen into confusion turned his head and was surprised to see the red-haired blood girl who had also followed out of the tavern at some point, and was now standing behind him with a calm face.
"Ferrandon?" He grabbed the badge in his hand, turned around and subconsciously read the girl's name.
Something unnatural, the blank space in his mind seemed to take root lingering, he felt as if he had lost the ability to think for a short time, just standing in front of the girl like a fool, and he didn't know what to say or do next.
For a moment, he was like a lost child, who needed a reliable leader for him to follow and guide him in order to take him out of this strange psychological labyrinth.
Putting down the hand on Arroyo's shoulder, the red-haired girl with a tainted blood looked into his eyes quietly, as if she had seen through his heart, and after a while, she suddenly asked, "Do you want to escape again?" β
Arroyo was stunned.
"What do you think...... Am I running away? He froze for a moment, looking at the girl with whom he was in love with each other.
"Avoid unnecessary troubles as much as possible, try to deal with what you can handle, and find a way to unload the responsibilities you have to bear, didn't you always think like this when you were a child?" Ferrandon looked at him and asked him calmly, "But people always have to grow, Arroyo...... There are some things that you can't escape for the rest of your life. (To be continued.) )
