Chapter 409: Starting from the Underground

Walking north from Felwood Forest, all you can see are charred trees and dead animals.

The scattered green flames still burned the earth, and there was a piercing pain to step on it.

The three Kael'thas carefully avoided the flames, approaching the outer mountains of Mount Hyjal in the evening.

This sacred mountain of the Night Elves has a natural shield of mountains that have kept it safe and beautiful for tens of thousands of years.

But now a black road scarred death, and it stretched from Felwood to the mountains above, straight into the interior of Mount Hyjal.

Kael'thas couldn't see the other side of the path, but he could see that the demons had attacked the Night Elves' position.

"There is no other way, Your Highness, this is what the Death Knight said."

Aurelia said as she looked around with a frown, then at the burning road ahead.

Arthas had agreed with them to send someone to meet them in the middle of the road, and it was clear that there could be no other way.

Kael'thas knew that there was another cave leading to Mount Hyjal, but the size of the cave was impossible for the undead to know.

He led the way up the mountainside.

There were still some low-level demons like imps playing on the road, and Aurelia and Valera were able to deal with them.

Demons are not the same as the undead, and Kael'thas is not worried about these low-level demons being discovered by Akmund and the others—the only person in this world who can see the world through the eyes of every citizen is the monster of the Lich King Neozu.

However, even Naozu's control was shaped by a certain coincidence. It won't be long before Illidan will shake this power of Naozu.

It's getting dark. Kael'thas stretched out his hand and cast a fireball spell.

The glow of the swirling fireball illuminated the way, enough for the three of them to avoid some of the miserable-looking corpses on the ground.

They walked halfway up the mountain. I saw a still figure in front of me.

It was a lich, and his robes covered his body, leaving only a skeletal head.

"Lord Arthas has commanded me to meet you."

The lich floated in front of the trio in front of them, two hollow eye sockets glowing with blue and eerie flames:

"Come with me."

His voice was so hoarse that he couldn't even tell the gender of his birth.

The three of Kael'thas resisted the disgust in their hearts and followed.

As the height increases, more lichs appear.

These monsters that float in blue light. Dead animals or the bodies of Night Elves are being selected on the ground, and they are resurrected as white bones.

The white bones burst out of the burnt flesh, and they stood up with their joints moving.

The three of Kael'thas walked through the group of bones, feeling the air around them unusually cold.

"Bang!"

Suddenly. The corpse of a leopard exploded around them, and flesh and blood were sprinkled all over the sky.

"Ice Protector!"

Kael'thas reached out and pulled the two girls along, instantly spreading the ice shield around him.

The round shield of frost shielded the three of them, and the minced meat was kept out.

This beautiful spell of ice blue has been dyed red when you look out from the inside.

"That's enough, can you stop?"

Kael'thas said in disgust.

He let go of Aurelia's hands, and the two elves thanked him with pale faces - no one wanted to be stuck to such disgusting minced flesh.

"I'm sorry."

The lich wiped the flesh off his head as if nothing had happened, and then commanded the others:

"Newcomers and fools, be careful when you cast spells!"

He turned his head, revealing the bloody skull, and explained:

"Some of the lichs have just been resurrected. They don't have a good grasp of the new spells yet. ”

"Stop, I don't want to care about this"

Kael'thas didn't bother to say this, he demanded:

"Hurry up and take us away."

He didn't want to stay around here for a moment.

If it weren't for the fear of getting in the way of the deal with Arthas, Kael'thas would have burned the undead to the ground.

"Please keep up."

The lich obediently sped forward.

He's drifting forward, but the three of Kael'thas can follow.

After ten minutes, the lich stopped when he was about to reach the top of the mountain.

"This is it."

He looked back.

It's a flat road upward, and it's no different from before.

"Are you sure?"

Kael'thas looked around, then frowned:

"What's here?"

Not to mention him, even Aurelia didn't find anything to pay attention to with her Eagle Eye.

"You can wait two minutes and it's almost there."

The lich bowed his head and replied calmly.

To prevent Kael'thas from becoming suspicious. The lich waited with them.

In less than two minutes, Kael'thas heard a strange whisper, and the direction of the sound turned out to be underground.

"Get out of the way."

Kael'thas took a few steps back with Aurelia and felt the ground tremble.

Boom boom

A dull and eerie sound came from underground, and then, like a small explosion, the dirt and stones in front of them bubbled up.

A huge insect crawled out of the ground.

The insect was as tall as two elves, with rows of sharp blades, a strong, barbed carapace that protected its body, and countless palm-sized carrion insects fluttering around it like flies.

【Crypt Lord?】 】

Kael'tham's eyes widened.

Legend has it that there is a great insect kingdom beneath Northrend, the Frost Continent, and after the emergence of the Lich King Neozu, the insect kingdom was defeated in the war. Most of the insects have been transformed and resurrected into new monsters in the service of the Lich King.

The Crypt Lord is one of these insect monsters.

Kael'thas is not an expert in his knowledge of history. So he didn't really know if the Crypt Lord was referring to just one or that kind of insect.

But anyway. He saw where the insect in front of him came from - and was amazed.

When did Neozu call these monsters over?

But Kael'thas recalled, and it seems that these guys appeared in the original Hyjalsan Holy War.

Instead, he forgot

"It's going to open an underground road. Just go along. ”

The lich turned to the three of Kael'thas and said.

“”

Even Kael'thas can't help but look at Arthas now.

There really is no better place to get to the besieged World Tree of Nodashir than underground—neither on the ground nor in the air, for the Burning Legion and the Night Elves to let their guard down.

However, the secrets of the underground will not be easily discovered, let alone let the Burning Legion discover the betrayal of the undead.

Arthas, Yang or the Lich King all have a good plan.

They work with Kael'thas and Kael'thas. Relying on the elves to hinder Akmund's actions would not be in any danger of its own.

"How long does it last to open a cavern?"

Kael'thas asked.

Cryptlords can walk underground, but that doesn't mean they can forge a path that will never collapse - it's a high-tech job.

The lich didn't seem to think he would ask this question.

"Wait."

He told Kael'thas to wait for a moment, and then spoke to his master in the distance.

More than ten seconds passed. The lich came back to his senses again.

"It secretes mucus that holds the soil in place, and it can keep the cave from collapsing for half an hour."

He gave the answer.

Half an hour, that's enough.

I don't know what to expect when I come back, but at least I won't get crushed by the mud on the way there.

Kael'thas asked his two companions, and neither of them was afraid.

"Alright, let's go."

He then proposed to the Crypt Lord.

The bug couldn't speak a consistent language, but it could understand Kael'thas words.

Turning his body, the Crypt Lord swung the countless stabbing blades in front of him and dug into the ground with a bang.

The three of Kael'thas followed.

The underground passages are damp and dark, and it is impossible to see where to go.

The fireball swirled. But the pressure of holding his hand for a long time gradually increased, and Kael'thas began to go numb in his arm.

"Ball of Arcan."

His heart moved, and then the Orb of Arcane rose.

The blue ball of flame flew over his shoulders and above his head, gradually turning fiery red with the incantation he chanted.

The dark passage was suddenly illuminated.

But as time passed slowly, the dull air and narrow field of vision still made people feel deeper and deeper depression.

Kael'thas felt like a few dozen minutes had passed, but it was actually less than ten minutes.

"That's not going to work"

He said in a low voice.

The vague concept of time and the lack of knowledge of the specific location and battle situation of the outside world are too passive.

Is there any way to fix this?

Kael'thas swirled his mind and began to think of a way to solve it.

"Aurelia. Can you control some animals to observe the situation outside? ”

He asked the female ranger.

Aurelia nodded.

"If I have a pet, I can look outside through its eyes."

"But Your Highness."

She turned her head to look around and said with a wry smile:

"There are no pet-friendly animals here."

There may be some groundhogs underground, but when the Crypt Lord moves, who dares to run over?

Kael'thas had no choice but to say to the bug that opened the way in front of him:

"Don't move forward just yet, let's get out for a while."

He estimated the time, and his current position should still be in the forest on the edge of Mount Hyjal, and it was unlikely that he would encounter an enemy.

This bug probably won't run to the enemy either.

The Crypt Lord obediently climbed up.

It turned over the earth, and the moonlight shone in, and the clear air came with the scent of grass and trees.

Valella dived out and observed for a while.

"No one, Your Highness."

A minute later, she made sure it was safe to let the two Kael'thas out. (To be continued.) If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for recommendation and monthly passes, and your support is my biggest motivation. )
