Section 3 Negotiations
"Honestly, I don't know you as a person, who did you hear about me from?"
In the box of the Hearthstone Inn, Blackjack looked at Duran with some unease.
The rest of the people returned to the hall at Duran's orders to wait, and he and Blackjack were the only ones in the box.
Still, the man in the funny triangular captain's hat was wary, sniffing twice before drinking the rum that Duran had handed him.
Duran shrugged: "That's not the point. β
"No, no, no, that's the key." "Anyone who knows me knows that I never do business with strangers," said Blackjack seriously. β
"Even if I pay a large sum of cash?" Duran raised an eyebrow.
Blackjack smiled slyly, "Then it depends on the price you offer." β
"I'm bidding a lot, because I know you're the only one in all of Cordo who has ever been to Nightmare Beach." Duran stared into Black Jack's eyes and said word for word.
"Damn it." Hearing Duran's words, Black Jack almost didn't choke on the drink, he coughed several times before he came to his senses, and looked at Duran with some shock: "How do you know?" Who are you? β
"I bet only ten people know about it! And those ten people also swore a poisonous oath to keep it secret forever. β
"It's not the crux of the matter like who I found you from." Duran smiled, "Listen, I need your help, so I'll pay you a large sum of cash." β
"Take me and my men to Nightmare Beach, it's as simple as that." Duran said.
Blackjack got up angrily: "This can't be! β
He threw the glass in his hand to the ground and glared at Duran viciously, "I'll never go back to that place." I swear, never! β
"You delusional careerists, think there's some great treasure in that placeβhehe, just like when I was younger. But I advise you, there is nothing there but the devil who kills! Blackjack said coldly, "No matter who you heard about me from, since you invited me to a drink, I might as well tell you that Nightmare Beach is an extremely dangerous place." At the beginning, more than 200 of us landed on the beach in a boat, and only 11 of them came back alive. β
"Me, and ten others."
Duran nodded, "I know that, and I also know that since you fled back, the rest of the ten have never been out to sea again." β
"Only you have not given up your way of life at sea. That's why I'm coming to you. β
Black Jack took a sip, patted his chest and said, "I won't mess around with you, even if you give a high price." I have a large shipload of people to feed, and as a captain, I am responsible for their lives. β
Duran smiled faintly and didn't speak.
Blackjack looked at Duran with some surprise, and he was full of expectations that Duran would offer more prices.
However, Duran just said calmly: "This is a transaction, and the so-called transaction is something that you and I are willing to do." If you're not happy, I won't force you. I've been staying at the Hearthstone Inn for the last few days, so feel free to come to me if you change your mind. β
"I'll never change my mind." Blackjack said fiercely, and with that, he slammed the door and walked out.
After a while, Simodo and the rest of the group walked in.
"It looks like he's not happy." Jamal chuckled.
"And it seems, he's strong-willed." Ironhide commented. Abu lay quietly on his shoulder, yawning a little boredly.
Duran hadn't seen Abu for a long time, and when he hugged the fire-eating beast, the latter's body still exuded a faint warmth, and it was very comfortable to hold in his arms.
"Isn't it time for us to make a new choice?" Simodo looked at Duran with an inquiring look.
"I've been around the Hearthstone Inn for a while, and I know a few captains, all of whom have been on the Roaring Ocean for more than ten years, and have their own way of being at sea. They shouldn't be worse than Blackjack. "The mercenary man suggested.
Duran shook his head silently.
As far back as he can remember, the game is set in the entire city of Cordo, where only the character Blackjack can find Nightmare Beach. In fact, the so-called Nightmare Beach is a treacherous place, and beyond this place, you can reach the Lake of Winter. After surviving the Lake of Winter, it is the retreat of the Moon Elves, the refuge of the first moon goddess Vanya, who has single-handedly opened up the refuge of Alberon.
So if you want to find Alberon, you have to find Nightmare Beach; And the reason why Duran wants to find Alberon is only because the Holy Land of Modovac is just east of Alberon. This is the safest place in the world, a place that the dragonmen will never be able to reach, not even the twelve dragons.
"We don't need to be in a hurry, let's inquire about Blackjack and his fleet in the neighborhood first." Duran thought for a moment and said. "These days, take a good rest and be prepared for a long trek."
Everyone nodded.
β¦β¦
Two days later, the noisy inn lobby.
"As far back as I can remember, Blackjack was very short of money. In the information given to me by the game company, players only need to pay more than 15 purple dragon coins, and this guy is willing to work for you. Duran sat there, thinking slowly. It's just that when I negotiated with him the day before yesterday, he didn't even give me a chance to quote. β
However, Duran was not in a hurry, he had inquired before, Blackjack's fleet had just docked a few days ago, and the sailors were in urgent need of rest, and they would not leave the port in a short time. As long as others are in Cordo, Duran has a chance.
"My lord, I have good news." Simodo hurried in from the outside and nodded and smiled at Duran.
The rest of the people showed curiosity, and Jamal asked directly, "What news?" β
Simodo smiled weirdly: "Black Jack, he's in trouble." β
Duran's eyes rolled, and he suddenly remembered the part of his memory that had been blurred before, and couldn't help but speak: "Could it be that his subordinates betrayed him?" β
Simodo was so shocked that even his eyes popped out, and he looked at Duran dumbfounded, and it took a long time to come back to his senses.
He scratched his head and wondered, "Lord Duran, how do you know?" β
Duran smiled slightly, but did not speak. It was only at this time that he completed the vague parts of his memory.
If Blackjack's men hadn't betrayed him, he wouldn't have gone from being a captain to a solo sailor, and he wouldn't have been able to paddle a boat to Nightmare Beach with a random man for a sum of money.
It turns out that the key is here.
That night, the news that Blackjack had been disembarked by his first mate spread through all the speakeasies of Puerto Cordo. Hearthstone Inn is no exception.
The old god Duran sat in the hall and waited for a while, only to see the familiar figure push the door in a bit of confusion.
He stared at Duran viciously: "Is the deal you said before still working?" β
