The Dragon and the Goblet of Fire: Chapter 17: Magic and Science

Section I

In the crowded train station, Sauron silently appeared in the bustling flow of people, and the dense raindrops fell on his black robes, and then slid silently, turning into mud under his feet. The air was filled with the smell of machinery, and on the railroad tracks, the Hogwarts train was already in place, and the crimson steam locomotive dragged the long passenger compartments, waiting for the travelers who were about to travel far away.

Parents are saying goodbye to their children, classmates who have not seen each other for a long time are greeting each other, owls are squeaking, and many children are looking around, excited or uneasy waiting for their first trip away from home. However, this qiē had nothing to do with Sauron, he walked alone through the smoke of the locomotive, not caring about anyone else, and no one cared, and occasionally someone inadvertently saw his eyes, so he hurriedly looked away, and looked away in horror.

Sauron got on the train, walked straight in the direction of the front of the car, found an unoccupied compartment and sat in, the students walked back and forth in the aisle, during which a few Hufflepuffs broke in, saw Sauron and hurried out. Sauron sat in his seat, looking at the Lonely Planet written by the Wheelers in his hand, like an ordinary traveler, killing the time before the train departed.

The door to the cubicle was pushed open again, and someone sat across from Sauron, with a faint scent of roses.

"Nice perfume." Sauron's eyes looked at the book in his hand, and he said without raising his head, "Looks like you're in a good mood, Isabella." ”

"Thanks to you, the holiday was good." Isabella leaned back in her seat and looked at the book in Sauron's hand with interest, "What, starting to get interested in Muggles?" ”

"In fact, I know more about Muggles than you might think." Sauron put the book down and looked at the girl opposite, noticing the surprise that flashed across her face, and he smiled and said, "Why, surprised?" ”

Sauron knew why she was surprised—not because he was looking at travel guides, of course, but because his eyes, their golden pupils were deep and sharp, and there was no disguise in them.

"You're going to stay like this?"

Isabella asked, raising an eyebrow, she certainly wouldn't think that Sauron was doing this against her, because that didn't make sense and didn't fit his usual style, so the only explanation was that he didn't intend to continue to hide his demigodship.

"Why not." Sauron said nonchalantly, he turned his head to look out the window, the crowd seemed to be much thinner than before, and as the departure time approached, more and more people had boarded the train.

"Well, you're the boss." Isabella shrugged her shoulders and pulled out a book from her bag and snuggled up in her chair to read it.

As the minutes ticked by, Draco stepped into the cubicle as the whistle sounded sharply before the train departed, along with Crabbe, Goyle, and Pansy. Soon, the train left the city and entered the wilderness, heading north, where the rain became heavier and heavier. The sky was dark, and the windows were covered with moisture, so lanterns were lit in broad daylight.

Seeing Sauron's eyes, Draco and the others couldn't help but be stunned for a while, but soon they stopped caring, but except for Draco, the other three more or less avoided Sauron's gaze. After a brief greeting, a few people chatted and passed the time on the train.

"What happened at the World Cup left Fudge anxious." Draco looked at the Daily Prophet in his hand and smacked his lips and said, "The media is chasing the Ministry of Magic like a dog, and now the Americans and Germans are coming in again......"

"It's not surprising that there is still half a year before the joint ministerial meeting of the Wizarding Alliance, and more than twenty important topics will be decided, at least half of which are related to the development of new standards for magical technology, which involves huge and terrible economic interests, and those politicians and the interest groups behind them may not look good."

Pansy said, curling her fingers in her hair, and she looked at Draco with a meaningful smile on her face, "I heard that Uncle Malfoy has been enthusiastic about public welfare lately, and he has donated a large enough amount of money to St. Mungo to build another hospital......

"Please, Pansy, your words sound like cynical old pedantry." Draco glanced at Pansy and said disapprovingly, "If I'm not mistaken, didn't your family sponsor the Ministry of Magic a large sum of money to host the Triwizard Tournament." ”

Pansy snorted and turned away from Draco, at which point Isabella put down her book and looked at Sauron, "Speaking of the Triwizard Tournament, will you be there then?" ”

"Forget it, I'm not going to join in the fun." Sauron shook his head, "I bet the protest letters would be piling up all over the Slytherin common room if I attended. ”

Everyone laughed, and Draco answered, "That's not bad, at least Slytherin can win the Triwizards." I have a distant cousin in Durmstrang, and it is said that their school has been organizing students to train for the finals during the holidays in preparation for the Final Three. ”

"It's not surprising, think of who their headmaster is - Igor Karkarov, the old fox."

Isabella sneered, contemptuous and disdainful, apparently not having a good impression of Durmstrang's headmaster.

"Well, I'd rather like to see Durmstrang see it." Draco said with some regret, "They are said to be much more open to the Dark Arts than Hogwarts, and they are really teaching the Dark Arts, not the hilarious Defence Against the Dark Arts like Hogwarts." ”

"If you say that, Dean Snape will be sad." Isabella quipped, "He's always wanted to teach this class." ”

"Haha, I'm afraid there is something more sad for my godfather." Draco laughed, "I heard from my dad that Dean Snape is going to be disappointed again this year. But you can't guess who will be the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher this year. ”

"Who knows, it's not going to be a vampire." Pansy said, "But honestly, that werewolf class was pretty much fun. ”

"It's Mad-Eye Moody!" Draco lowered his voice and said, "I didn't expect Dumbledore to hire him as a teacher. ”

Several people were silent for a while, and Draco's gaze swept over a few people, and found that except for Sauron's face, there was no love on his face, and the others all showed more or less surprised expressions, it was obvious that they all knew the Crazy Eye Man, and they didn't expect to deal with him at Hogwarts this year.

"That old madman, his attitude towards Slytherin is anything but friendly." Pansy said with a frown.

"Actually, his attitude towards most people is not anything but friendly." "That guy was a paranoid madman, but he was so powerful that when he retired a few years ago, half of the people in Azkaban were sent in by him. ”

"What do you think about this?" Draco looked at Sauron, "Is this old guy going to trouble us?" ”

"With Dumbledore here, he won't go too far, at most you should be careful in front of him." Sauron's eyes narrowed, his golden pupils shrunk into a thin line, "We've known each other for a long time, and I once left him a souvenir, hoping he still likes it." ”

Seeing the gloomy expression on Sauron's face, Draco and the others looked at each other, but they all remained silent in tacit agreement, it was clear that Sauron and the Mad-Eye had had some unpleasant interactions......

The Hogwarts students ended their day with the monotonous sound of the wheels crashing against the tracks, and as they stepped off the train, the rain was falling so hard that they were drenched and helpless, so they could only stand in the middle of the crowd and move their feet a little bit across the dark and slippery platform. Outside the station, a hundred carriages were waiting for them, their heads heading towards the rugged path that led to Hogwarts Castle.

Before boarding the carriage, Sauron caught a glimpse of Harry and his friends from a distance, who were hurrying towards another carriage, as if sensing something, Harry turned to look, but only saw the van moving away.

The carriage shook violently due to the strong wind, causing Isabella to complain softly. Sauron leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed, and as he perceived Hogwarts getting closer and closer, as the carriage passed through the gate with winged boar sculptures on both sides and drove into the wide driveway, Sauron sensed that he had passed through an invisible barrier and entered a large spiritual field.

From the first time he set foot on Hogwarts, Sauron was aware of the existence of this psionic field, but to this day, he is still shocked in his heart, especially since he has just completed a further transformation, and can more clearly feel the extraordinary magic that guards Hogwarts.

Many people know that Hogwarts is protected by all kinds of magic, keeping it away from the prying eyes of the outside world, but few people know that these magic are not independent of each other, but together form an orderly magic system - a magical field controlled by magic is constantly fixed in the void that ordinary people cannot perceive, and in a special way connected with the underlying rules of the world, through all kinds of complex and exquisite logical algorithms affect the operation mechanism of matter and energy in this space. In this way, the functions of the system itself are perfectly realized.

Everything within the school is connected to the spiritual field in some way, including the people who enter the school - everyone's spiritual energy will be sensed by the spiritual field, forming an invisible magical link, and then the entire magic system will be included in the full-time monitoring, and every qiē is completed in an instant and silently, so that almost no one can detect it - of course, almost no one.

Just last year, Harry was given a map of the living spots, which could identify the names and locations of everyone on campus, and it was clear that the map's maker had sensed the existence of this magical system in some way, and had managed to crack some of the system's functions and import some of the monitoring numbers into the map. Later, Sauron learned that his father was one of the geniuses of the map.

Now, Sauron can do much more than his father, and for the past three years, he has often used the power of demigods to disrupt the rules of the spirit field, using apparitions or circumventing the system's surveillance. But now, Sauron didn't do anything on purpose, and was monitored by the psionic field like everyone else. In fact, with the power of the demigod level, he is fully capable of obtaining more system permissions, and even completely destroying or taking over the system, but before this qiē happens, the owner of the highest authority of this magic system will never sit idly by.

Sauron could "see" that in this ghostly blue psychic energy, the colors became brighter and brighter as the magic links converged, and at the center of this qiē was a raging golden flame. The flames were so brilliant that they even dyed the surrounding psionic fields golden. Sauron knew who it was - Arbus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts and possibly the most powerful demigod in the world. To this day, Sauron doesn't think he can defeat Dumbledore, at least not because he can't build the system architecture on his own, let alone manipulate it in human form.

In Sauron's mind, this magical system can be called the pinnacle of magical technology, compared to it, the British Ministry of Magic's "trace" system is not worth mentioning, of course, this also has to do with the fact that the "trace" system was not actually completed - before it was completed, its designer Voldemort fell out with the Ministry of Magic, leaving only a half-finished product full of backdoors, so that the Ministry of Magic could only use it to monitor the casting of spells by underage wizards.

But the most interesting thing is that as Sauron comprehends the origin of magic, whether it is the spirit field system in Hogwarts or the traces of the Ministry of Magic, it faintly gives him an increasingly obvious sense of familiarity, evoking memories in the depths of his mind—the memories of his past life, as a mortal.

Spiritual field systems, traces, and other newly born theories and techniques of magic all show a faint trend of more and more similarities with science and technology, partly in terms of specific structure and function, and more in terms of ideas and ideas. Thanks to the experience of the two lives, Sauron figured out the reason for this very early on—since the two systems coexist in the same objective world, they must be based on the same underlying rules, and the only difference is that the rules are interpreted and used in different directions. This means that as magic and science continue to evolve, the unity between the two systems will become more and more apparent, until they merge into a new, highly developed system.

Because of this, all the demigods of modern times - Sauron, Dumbledore, Grindelwald and even Voldemort - are true Muggles. With their own advanced life forms, the demigods draw all kinds of knowledge from the mortal world, and analyze the rules of this world more and more deeply, so as to master more powerful powers, until the ultimate transformation is completed.

Sauron also knew that wizards were far from being as ignorant of the Muggle world as they might seem. More and more wizards are aware of the power of combining magic and technology, and are already doing so. It is foreseeable that with the continuous integration of magic and technology, an unprecedented theoretical and technological revolution is coming, and the entire human world will be turned upside down.

Sauron couldn't help but think of Mr. Weasley, who worked for the Ministry of Magic and was the head of the Division for the Prohibition of Muggle Supplies, even though it was considered by many to be the most ineffective of the Ministry. Considering the impending technological revolution, Sauron would never have thought that Mr. Weasley had insisted on working in the department for decades, just to facilitate the collection of Muggle wire plugs......

In this way, in the chaos of Sauron's thoughts, the short journey in the carriage soon came to an end. As the carriage came to a halt under the stone steps in front of the two oak gates, Sauron and Isabella stepped out of the door, and in front of them the towering castle of Hogwarts stood silently under the canopy. Sauron shook off the clutter of thoughts in his mind and slowly walked into the tunnel leading to the castle with the flow of people, and more strife and challenges awaited him in front of him.
