Chapter 35: The Dementors
Section I
The last day before school ended in a noisy hustle and bustle, with a few people shopping for all sorts of bits and pieces, including textbooks for the new semester, in Diagon Alley. At the Fantastic Beasts Shop, Hermione buys a cat named Crookshan, after the grumpy ginger cat nearly ate Ron's mouse, causing Ron to complain on the way back.
In the afternoon, the group met at the Leaky Cauldron, after which the Weasleys followed their parents back to the Burrow, while Harry and Hermione returned to the old mansion on Oak Road with Sauron, where their belongings were left.
Before parting, Mr. Weasley called Sauron aside. He looked around and noticed that Harry was chatting with Ron, and whispered, "There are some things I think I should talk to you about, huh...... Something about Sirius. β
Sauron looked at Mr. Weasley and didn't speak, just nodded.
"Well, I'll cut it short." Mr. Weasley glanced in Harry's direction again, "I guess you know no less about Sirius than I do, I just want to tell you, don't go to him, maybe you can defeat him, but it's never a good thing to rush into contact with such a dangerous creature." Also, remember to protect Harry, he's still too young, and it's best not to let him know too much about Blake's affairs. But I'm sure it won't be long before Blake gets re-arrested. β
Sauron looked down and thought for a moment, then nodded, "Thank you for your concern, you're a good person." I'll be careful about Blake. β
The crowd parted at the bar and returned to the Burrow and Oak Road through GuΓ² Floo Powder.
Early in the morning of September 1st, Sauron woke up Harry and Hermione, and after breakfast, the three of them went out into the street outside the old mansion with their luggage that had been packed the previous night.
On the street, a large old-fashioned taxi was parked, which Sauron had booked the night before, and with the help of the driver, Harry and Hermione loaded their luggage into the trunk. Hermione's pet Crookshan, didn't like to be kept in the trunk, so Hermione had to hold it, but luckily Harry decided to let Hathaway fly to the owl shed at Hogwarts on his own, otherwise Sauron might have to use a confusion charm to make the driver ignore the weird piece of luggage.
Arriving at the train station, it took a while for the three to wait for the Weasleys, after which Sauron departed, going to meet up with Epikos, Isabella, and Draco - traditionally, Slytherin leaders did not sit with the students of other houses.
In a compartment at the front of Hogwarts Express, Sauron meets Epikos, Draco, and Isabella. Ibikos was as elegant as ever, and the smile on his face was one of confidence and a certain cunning wisdom; Draco hadn't changed much, but he seemed to be taller; As for Isabella, to Sauron's surprise, she had changed, she had become more calm and cold than before, but the eyes that looked at Sauron still showed respect and some kind of imperceptible worship.
"Thank you, Isabella." Sauron patted her on the shoulder, "I'm so proud of you. β
The train slowly left the platform and ran across the wilderness, the scenery outside the window constantly changing, forests, wilderness, grasslands, and rivers flying by.
"I've heard that Hogwarts has hired a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher this year." Ibikos glanced at Sauron and spoke slowly. "Remus Lupin, Dumbledore asked him to be his teacher, I think he might be in the car right now."
"Dumbledore arranged it." Sauron raised an eyebrow, "It seems that he is really bold in employing people, trust, or is he planning something." β
"Shall we keep an eye on it?" Ibikos whispered, "Blake is on the run, and Lupin and his relationship ......"
Sauron shook his head, interrupting Ibikos. "There is no need, since Dumbledore dares to hire him at this time, it means that at least he is sure that things will never go beyond his control." Sauron narrowed his eyes and looked fixedly out the windowβthe Hogwarts Express was steadily heading north, the scenery growing wilder and darker, and the clouds overhead getting thicker. After a long time, Sauron exhaled, "With Dumbledore here, we don't need to do it first, we just need to wait and see." As for Blake, he is no danger to us. β
Isabella and Draco listened confused, while Ipicos looked at Sauron, and soon, he smiled knowingly, "I see, Your Highness. β
The train continued northward, and the rain became heavier; The window panes were now a thick, sticky gray that deepened until the lights in the hallway and on the luggage racks came on. The train swayed, the rain knocked on the windows, and the wind howled. Sauron frowned, he looked out the window, and closed his eyes. He could feel some kind of unpleasant aura coming towards the train in the dark clouds in the distance.
"What's the matter, Your Highness?" Epikos noticed Sauron's abnormality and asked in a low voice.
Sauron opened his eyes and said in a deep voice, "It's the Dementors, it looks like the Ministry of Magic sent them." β
Ibpicos frowned, and Draco and Isabella looked a little nervous.
No sooner had Sauron finished his sentence than the train slowed down. Sauron and Ibikos looked at each other and pulled their wands out of their arms, and Draco and Isabella hurriedly took out their wands.
"Draco, you and Isabella stay in the private room." Sauron whispered, "I'll just go with Epikos, you two won't be able to deal with the Dementors." β
The train was moving slower and slower, the sound of the wheels was quieter, and the wind and rain outside the window were louder. Sauron opened the door to the cubicle and stood in the hallway, Ibikos standing beside him. In the carriages on the side of the corridor, there were people peeking out. The train shook and stopped, and there was a thudding sound in the distance, indicating that the luggage had fallen from the shelf. Then, all of a sudden, all the lights went out, and they were thrown into complete darkness.
The Slytherins were all gathered in the compartment at the front of the train, and when the train was plunged into darkness, many students came out of the cubicle, some of them lit up the fluorescent wand and walked around in a panic.
"Ibikos, go get the Slytherin students back in their cubicles." Sauron turned his head and said, he looked at the other end of the train carriage, and through the darkness, Sauron could feel that the Dementors had entered the carriage.
Ibikos' wand glowed with a dazzling white light, illuminating a large area. He exclaimed, "Slytherins, go back to your compartment and don't leave." As he spoke, Ibikos moved in the direction of the front of the car.
The icy and eerie aura permeated the carriage, getting thicker and thicker, and Sauron noticed that in the private room, Draco and Isabella's breathing was white, and the glass was gradually covered with ice mist.
In the hallway, strange black shadows slowly floated from the darkness - a cloaked monster that reached the ceiling. Its face was completely hidden under its turban, and a hand protruded from its cloak, which shimmered, gray, thin, and crusted, as if something had died, soaked in water, and rotted......
"There's nothing you're looking for here, get out of here." Sauron said coldly.
The Dementor only paused, and then continued to float towards Sauron, it seemed to be wheezing, making a hehe sound, Sauron could feel a chill over his body, some strange aura was trying to penetrate his mind, in the private room behind him, Draco's face was ugly, and Isabella's face was pale and terrifying, as if she had seen a scene that terrified her, fainted in her seat and moaned and sobbed quietly.
"Hmph." Sauron snorted, he raised his wand, and a dazzling white light burst out from between his wands, illuminating the entire carriage, and in the distant carriage, the Dementors retreated in fear, while the one closest to Sauron was annihilated in the white light, burned into nothingness. At the same time, a silver crane flew out from behind Sauron and flew straight along the corridor of the carriage, all the Dementors who had no time to retreat were knocked out when they were touched by the crane.
"You stay and take care of Isabella." Sauron said to Ibikos behind him, "I'm going to see Harry. β
As Sauron walked along the carriage, the lights began to reinstate, and the students in the cubicles along the way were pale, languid, or frightened. After a while, Sauron found the cell where Harry was, and there were a lot of people inside, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and a man who was wearing an extremely shabby wizard's robe, patched in several places. He looked sick and exhausted. He still looks young, but his pale brown hair is already mixed with spontaneity. When he saw Sauron, he was stunned for a moment, and stared at Sauron for a moment.
Sauron just nodded, his attention on Harry, who was sitting on the ground with a very bad face, struggling to sit up when he saw Sauron come in.
Sauron walked over, crouched down beside Harry, and asked with concern, "Don't rush to get up yet, are you alright?" β
Harry nodded, shook his head again, and said a little embarrassed, "I feel bad, just when that thing came, I fainted and heard someone screaming......"
Sauron patted him on the shoulder comfortingly, "It's okay, they're Dementors, and it's a terrible thing to deal with them. β
"Eat a piece of chocolate, it's good for you." The man next to him spoke, and he handed Harry a piece of chocolate.
"Thank you." Harry took the chocolate and slowly put it in his mouth. He turned to Sauron, "This is Professor Lupin, which one did he just help us fight off...... Well...... Dementors. β
Sauron stood up and looked at Lupin, his face was pale, but that gentle smile made people feel comfortable.
"Thank you, Professor Lupin." Sauron said politely.
Lupin smiled, "You're Sauron, maybe you should stay here with Harry, I'm going to the conductor now." With that, Lupin patted Sauron on the shoulder and walked out of the compartment.
