Chapter 26: Spiders and Unknown Creatures

Section I

Harry and Ron decide to enter the Forbidden Forest to find clues about the Chamber of Secrets. After dinner, Harry took the Cloak of Invisibility out of the box and sat on it all night, waiting for the common room to run out. Fred and George challenge Harry and Ron to play Wizard Solitaire, with Ginny watching. She sat in Hermione's usual seat, her mood low. Harry and Ron kept deliberately losing, wanting to end the game early, but even then, it was already midnight when Fred, George, and Ginny went to bed.

Harry and Ron waited for two rings of dormitory doors to close in the distance before grabbing the Cloak of Invisibility, draping it over their bodies, and crawling out of the portrait hole.

The journey through the castle was also difficult, and I had to avoid the teacher in every possible way. At last they finally reached the foyer, slipped behind the locks of the two oak doors, tried to squeeze through the cracks, trying not to squeak, and came to the moonlit field.

"Harry—" A call came like a whisper in his ear, causing Harry to froze and turn his head to look at Ron.

"What's wrong with you?" Ron asked.

"You just called me?" Harry said uncertainly, "I hear someone calling me......"

"I didn't say anything...... Ron's face turned a little pale and looked around a little nervously, "You mean, you heard that voice again......"

Harry shook his head, "Maybe it's an illusion. ”

Ron couldn't help but shrink his neck, "Hey, buddy, this makes me a little hairy. ”

They strode through the swarthy meadows to Hagrid's hut, and looked sadly and sadly at the black windows. Harry pushed the door open, and Tooth was overjoyed when he saw them. Fearing that its low, deep bark would wake the people in the castle, they quickly took butterfat fudge from a can on the mantelpiece and gave it food, sticking its teeth.

Harry placed the Cloak of Invisibility on Hagrid's desk. You don't need it in the dark woods.

"Come on, Yaya, let's go for a walk." Harry said, patting it on the back leg. Tooth happily followed them out of the hut, running toward the edge of the woods, and crossed his leg beside a large Sikmo fig tree.

Harry pulled out his wand and muttered, "Fluorescent flicker!" A thin beam of light came out of the wand's head, just enough for them to see if there were spiders on the road.

"Good idea," Ron said, "I want my wand to shine too, but you know, if you don't get it right, it will explode......"

Harry patted Ron on the shoulder and pointed to the grass. Two lone spiders were scurrying away from the light of their wands and into the shadows of the dark trees.

"Well," Ron sighed, as if he had to settle for the worst, "I'm ready." Let's go. ”

So, they went into the woods, and Fangya ran around them, sniffing the roots and leaves along the way. By the light of Harry's wand, they followed the spiders that kept crawling along the path.

After walking for about twenty minutes, no one spoke, but listened carefully to see if there was anything other than the breaking of branches and the rustling of leaves. Then, the trees grew thicker and thicker, and the stars overhead were no longer visible. Harry's wand shimmered alone in the endless darkness when they noticed that the spider guides had strayed from the path.

"Harry, don't go-" the whisper again, "it's dangerous, don't go, Harry-"

Harry was sure it wasn't a hallucination, his voice low and clear, like someone was calling out to him in his ear. He looked around, and the forest at night seemed eerie and eerie, beyond the glimmer of light from the tip of the staff, there was darkness that could not be seen, but for no reason, the mysterious whisper made Harry feel a little familiar. The voice told him that he was in danger, and Harry had no doubt that he never thought it was safe to enter the Forbidden Forest in the middle of the night. Harry looked at Ron, he looked nervous, as if he was worried that a big ugly spider would pounce at any moment, Harry shook his head, worried that if he told Ron now that a ghostly voice came from him, Ron would probably turn around and leave.

Harry stopped, trying to see where the spider was moving, he had never been so deep in the middle of the woods before. He vividly recalled the last time he and Sauron had entered the woods, Hagrid had warned him not to stray from the forest path. But at this moment, Sauron was nowhere to be found, and Hagrid was thousands of miles away, presumably sitting in Azkaban's cell, and he had said he would follow the spider.

Something touched Harry's hand, and he jerked backwards, pointing his wand forward, accidentally stepping on Ron's foot, which turned out to be nothing more than Toothy Nose.

"What do you think?" Harry said to Ron. He had just been able to make out Ron's eyes, pupils reflecting the glimmer of his wand.

"We've come so far." Ron said.

So, they followed the shadow of the spider into the trees. They couldn't go fast now, and there were roots and stumps everywhere, blocking the way, barely visible in the near-pitch light. Harry could feel his teeth breathing hot on his hands. They were forced to stop on more than one occasion, and Harry crouched down, looking for spiders by the light of his wand.

It seemed that they had been walking for at least half an hour, and their clothes were often hung by low branches and thorny vines. After a while, they noticed that the ground seemed to be sloping downward, even though the trees were still as dense as before.

At that moment, Tooth suddenly let out a loud bark that echoed through the woods, scaring both Harry and Ron out of their bodies.

"What?" Ron exclaimed, glancing into the darkness as he grabbed Harry's elbow hard.

"There's something moving there," Harry gasped, "listen...... Like a big guy. ”

They listened carefully. Some distance to their right, the big thing was carving a way out of the bushes, breaking countless branches. Harry nervously pointed his wand forward, recalling the spell Sauron had taught him.

"Oh, no," Ron said, "oh, no, oh, no, oh—"

"Shut up," Harry said furiously, "and it will hear you. ”

"Hear me?" Ron said in an unnatural screech, "It's heard." Tooth tooth!"

They stood there, waiting in horror, the darkness seemed to oppress their eyeballs. Suddenly there was a rumbling sound, and then silence returned.

"What do you think it's doing?" Harry asked.

"Probably ready to pounce." Ron said.

They waited, trembling and not daring to move. As if after a long time, Harry couldn't stand the oppression anymore and shouted, "Except for your weapons!" ”

A bright red light flashed, breaking a lot of the branches that passed by.

"Cool." Ron whispered, "Do you think it's gone?" ”

"I don't know—"

At this moment, to their right, a dazzling light suddenly lit up, dazzling in the darkness, and both of them raised their hands to block their eyes. Tooth roared and tried to escape, but was tripped by a thorn and screamed even louder.

"Harry!" Ron shouted, his voice choked with relief, "Harry, it's our car!"

"What?" Come on!"

Harry followed Ron and stumbled towards the light, tripping along the way. A moment later, they came to a clearing. Mr. Weasley's car was parked in the middle of a dense circle of trees, topped by dense interlaced foliage, empty and shiningly glowing from its headlights. As Ron walked towards it with his mouth wide open, it slowly moved towards him, like a large turquoise dog greeting its owner.

"So it's been here all along!" Ron said happily, walking around the car. "Look at it, the woods have made it wild......" The wings of the car were scratched and covered with mud. Apparently it formed the habit of moving alone in the woods. Tooth didn't seem to be interested in it in the slightest; It followed Harry without a single step. Harry could feel it shivering. Harry's breathing slowed down again, and he withdrew his wand into his robes.

"We thought it was going to attack us!" Ron said, leaning against the car and patting it. "I never knew where it went!"

Harry narrowed his eyes and continued to search for the spiders on the lighted ground, but they all scrambled away from the glare of the headlights and ran away.

"Harry--Leave-Danger-Leave-" The whisper came again, and Harry frowned and decided to discuss it with Ron. He looked at Ron, but he didn't say anything, and he didn't move. His eyes were fixed on Harry's back, ten feet above the ground. His face was pale, and fear was written vividly.

Harry didn't even have time to turn around. He heard a loud click, and suddenly he felt a long, furry thing grab him by the waist, and hang him face down in the air. He struggled, terrified, and then heard a click, and he saw Ron's legs off the ground, and he saw his teeth whining and growling—and then he was dragged into the dark bushes.

Harry's head hung upside down, and he saw that the guy who had grabbed him was riding on six strangely long, thick-haired legs, and two more legs in front of him clamped tightly, and on top of them were a pair of large, shiny black stings. Behind him, he could hear another such animal, apparently holding Ron. They are moving towards the center of the woods. Harry heard the teeth whining and was desperately trying to break free from the third monster, but Harry couldn't scream even if he wanted to, and he seemed to leave his voice in the clearing, along with the car.

Harry didn't know how long he had been in the animal's claws; All he knew was that the darkness seemed to have subsided a little, and he saw that the ground covered with fallen leaves was now densely packed with spiders. He twisted his neck and found that they had come to the edge of a wide hollow, the hollow of trees cleared, and the stars illuminated the most terrible sight he had ever seen in his life.

Spider. Not like the little spiders that crawled through the fallen leaves below, but each one the size of a horse pulling a cart, with eight eyes and eight legs, black and hairy, like a behemoth. The giant spider carrying Harry descended the steep slope towards a misty, hemispherical web in the middle of the hollow, surrounded by its companions. When they saw what it was clamping onto, they all moved their claws excitedly, making a clicking sound.

The spider let go of its claws, and Harry fell to the ground. Ron and the Tooth Spear also fell hard beside him. Tooth no longer growled, but curled up silently. Ron looked and felt exactly like Harry. His mouth was wide and seemed to be screaming silently, and his eyes were bulging outward. Harry suddenly realized that the spider that had thrown him away was talking. It's not easy to hear, because it has to click and fiddle with its big claws with every word it says.

"Aragog!" It shouted, "Aragog!"

From the middle of the misty, hemispherical webs, a spider the size of a small elephant emerged very slowly. Its body and legs were black and gray, and every eye on its ugly head with large claws was covered with a white coat - it was blind.

"What's going on?" It said, click, click, two large claws moving rapidly.

"People." The spider who had just grabbed Harry said.

"Is it Hagrid?" Aragog said, moving closer, eight milky eyes staring blankly.

"It's a stranger." The spider who brought Ron with clicked.

"Cursed power...... Breath of darkness...... Kill them," Aragog said irritably. "I'm sleeping......"

"We're friends with Hagrid." Harry shouted. His heart seemed to leave his chest and jump out of his throat.

Click, click, click, the hollows are full of spiders' claws moving. Aragog hesitated.

"Hagrid never sent to our hollows before." It said slowly. "Hagrid is in trouble," Harry said, breathing very hard, "that's why we're here." "Trouble?" The old spider said. Harry felt that he heard some concern in the clattering clatter. "But why did he send you?"

Harry wanted to stand up, but then decided to lie on his stomach; He didn't think his legs could support the weight of his body. He lay on the ground and spoke, speaking as calmly as he could. "At school, they think Hagrid recently released a ...... One...... Something harms the students. They took him to Azkaban.

"Click," Aragog said angrily, waving his claws, the sound echoed by the swarm of spiders in the hollow; It was like applause, except that the usual applause wouldn't make Harry sick with fear. "But that was many years ago," Aragog said angrily, "many, many years ago." I remember it well. It was because of this that they let him out of school at that time. They believed I was the monster who lived in what they called a secret room. They thought Hagrid had opened the chamber and released me. ”

"So you...... You didn't come out of the back room?" Harry asked, feeling a cold sweat break out on his head.

"Me!" Aragog said, claw clicking angrily, "I wasn't born in a castle. I come from a faraway country. Before I hatched from the egg, a traveler gave me to Hagrid. Hagrid was just a child, but he took care of me, hid me in a cupboard in the castle, and fed me the crumbs that I had taken away from the table. Hagrid is a good friend of mine, he's a good guy. When people found me and asked me to take responsibility for the death of a girl, he was the one who protected me. I've lived in the woods ever since, and Hagrid often visits me. He even got me a wife, Mosag. You see how prosperous our family is, and it's all thanks to Hagrid......"

Harry mustered up what little courage he had left. "So you've never- never attacked anyone?"

"No," said the old spider resentfully, "I have this instinct, but out of respect for Hagrid, I have never hurt a person. The body of the murdered girl was found in a bathroom. And I've never seen any part of the castle except the cupboards I grew up in. We spiders love darkness and silence......"

"But at the time...... Do you know what killed that girl?" Harry said, "Because whatever it is, it's back to attack people now—"

Suddenly, there was a clattering sound, and countless long legs were moving in a scurry; A huge black shadow dangled around him.

"The guy who lives in the castle," said Aragog, "is an ancient creature that we spiders fear the most." I remember vividly that when I felt the beast moving around the school, I begged Hagrid to let me go. ”

"What is it?" Harry asked urgently. The clatter was louder, the plugged was getting denser, and the spiders seemed to be congregating.

"We don't say it!" "We don't name it!" I didn't even tell Sù Hagrid the name of that terrible creature, though he had asked me many times. ”

Harry didn't want to be pressed on the subject, especially with the spiders gathering from all directions. Aragog didn't seem to want to speak. It slowly retreated into his hemispherical web, but his spider companions were still moving slowly, inch by inch, towards Harry and Ron.

"Then let's go." Harry shouted to Aragog as he heard the trees rustle behind him. "Let's go?" Aragog Manju said leisurely, "I don't think it's ......."

"But—but—"

"My sons and daughters obeyed my commands and did no harm to Hagrid. But fresh human flesh is automatically delivered to the door, and I can't stop them from enjoying it. Farewell, Hagrid's friend......"

Harry turned, and a few paces away, high above him, spiders formed a solid, towering wall of copper, large claws clattering together, and many pairs of eyes gleaming on those ugly black heads...... Harry pulled out his wand and pointed forward to unleash several disarming charms, the bright red spells seemed to knock a few spiders away, but he knew it was to no avail, there were too many of them.

At that moment, without warning, Harry was pushed out by a huge force, and a black flame burst out in front of him, spinning with a sharp wind that startled the approaching spider swarm. The next moment, the flames condensed into something, and then, stunned by the fall, Harry felt as if he had been grabbed by a huge claw and carried it into the sky.

The wind was blowing so hard in front of Harry's face that he could barely open his eyes. Harry found himself in the air above the Forbidden Forest, silver moonlight shining in front of him, he seemed to be caught in the claws of a giant creature burning with black flames, and next to him, Ron and Fangfang seemed to be caught in the other paw, and Ron could occasionally be heard screaming and Fangfang's terrified barking. Harry tried to shout at Ron, but a mouth filled his mouth. The black flames didn't burn Harry, but they blocked his vision, and Harry couldn't see what was clutching them above his head, but he could hear the loud flapping of huge wings in the air. Harry was nervous, even though they had escaped from the hordes of terrible spiders in the Forbidden Forest, but the giant creature that was holding them still made him nervous, wondering if he and Ron would be eaten as snacks in their stomachs for a while.

Soon, however, Harry spotted that they were heading in the direction of the castle, and in a few seconds, they were out of the Forbidden Forest and above the large meadow leading to the castle. Soon, Harry was horrified to find that the huge creature was grabbing itself and rushing towards the ground, which made him cry out nervously. Just before they touched the ground, Harry felt his claws burst open, and then Harry was surrounded by black flames, and he felt like he had been slammed into a large mat, and he was dizzy. After a while, he felt someone pulling him.

"Hey! Harry—Harry, are you alright. Ron's worried voice came as Tooth Tooth was next to him, trembling in a nutshell.

Harry struggled to his feet with Ron's help, and they were on the grass, the moon hanging high in the sky, and nothing could be seen around them, as if the huge creature that had just taken them into the sky had never appeared. Beyond the meadow, in the silvery moonlight, the castle was clear
