Chapter 149: Wishes
Night at Quel'Salas.
When the wind sings in the forest, even if it is not the same world, if you look up at the brilliant starry sky, you will feel that they have the same beauty and mystery.
The shining stars are embedded in the dark and distant sky, showing a touching beauty through the sparse branches.
No matter how great a person is, under the stars, he will become small and vulnerable.
"We were the sons of the stars before"
Sitting quietly by the sea, with the hustle and bustle of the team behind him, Kael'thas had such a rare interest:
"Sylvanas, do you know the story of the stars?"
He turned around and asked, and behind him, a mature and beautiful elf stood quietly.
"I'm sorry, Your Highness, I don't know"
Sylvanas smiled slightly awkwardly.
How many elves will be familiar with something that is too far away?
They had already given up on the past and walked out of the night.
Now it exists as a spirit under the sun, not as a child of the stars.
They remember history, they know the glory and shame of the past, what they believed in and who they served
But just like the new China in the previous life, how many people will study the ancient traditional stories?
"That's a pity, I'm actually quite interested."
Kael'thas smiled, but didn't mind either, and continued:
"Solan Liane might know something, though."
Sylvanas' brow furrowed slightly.
Solan Liane
This woman, trusted by Kael'thas, is perhaps her greatest threat.
But, for some reason, that woman didn't think the same way as someone else
It was as if she had lost all affection except absolute loyalty
[Perhaps, that's why Kael'thas trusts her]
Sylvanas was suspicious, but she heard a new voice from Kael'thas:
"Sylvanas, have you heard the legend that praying for a meteor will come true?"
Meteor?
Sylvanas couldn't help but look at the sky, but didn't notice any shadow of a meteor.
Moreover, she had not heard of this legend either.
"Your Highness, this should be a lie made up by others"
"I've never heard of a meteor making a wish!"
Sylvanas said, pouting a little boredly:
"Wishes are to be realized by one's own efforts, and making wishes will not produce any effect!"
Rather than these nonsense things, Sylvanas believes in achieving results through his own efforts.
"I've also heard from the mages of Dalaran that there is a wishing fountain in Dalaran that can grant wishes."
She thought about the chit-chatter of the mages, and said with some amusement:
"It is said that if you engrave your wish on a coin and throw it into that pool, you can make it come true."
"But I didn't see any of them whose wish came true"
Those mages were supposed to be the ones with the surname Li, but they were a little stupid enough to believe in these ethereal things, and Sylvanas didn't want his brother to be like them.
It is normal for the High Elves to treat magic, worship and indulge in it
That's because they believe that magic can help them achieve any possibility, and so does fate
But it would be silly and naΓ―ve to believe in a baseless, unenchanted trevi fountain.
"You're right."
Kael'thas nodded, looking like he agreed with her.
Sylvanas was a little happy.
However, Kael'thas shook his head again:
"But not all right"
He looked up at the sky, and from Sylvanas' point of view, he could see a somewhat lonely side of his face.
"Wishes need to be fulfilled through one's own efforts, and this is something that everyone knows."
Kael'thas smiled with some regret:
"But even so, people need a kind of hope"
"A hope that can convince oneself that one's wish will come true"
That's deceiving himself and encouraging himself, and Kael'thas doesn't think it's wrong.
"Everyone imagines and hints in their hearts that they will succeed, and making a wish is just an outward manifestation of this idea."
There's nothing to lose anyway, is there?
ββ
Sylvanas didn't reply.
The two stared silently at the ocean and sky, blonde hair fluttering in the night breeze.
"Sylvanas"
After a long time, Kael'thas turned his head again.
"Your Highness"
Sylvanas then looked at him.
"Can you help me find a coin and a hard knife?"
Kael'thas smiled, not knowing what was going on in his eyes.
"Yes"
Sylvanas bowed her head in response, turning and walking towards the convoy.
She understood what Kael'thas was up to, but after searching for a long time, she found a beautiful silver coin and a knife that was sharp enough to apply magic to a civilian who was following the party.
When Sylvanas returned to the beach, Kael'thas was still sitting in place.
"Your Highness"
She gave two things to Kael'thas.
"Thank you."
Smiling and thanking, Kael'thas turned and carved the words on the coin.
It's like a treasure, carved very carefully
Ten minutes later, he waved his hand and threw the engraved silver coin to the seashore with only the strength of his body.
In the sound of the tide, without the slightest sound, the silver coin disappeared into the darkness.
"This is going down"
Handing the knife back to Sylvanas, Kael'thas said:
"Give it back to its owner, I'll go back to sleep"
Passing through Sylvanas, Kael'thas walked towards the group.
"Your Highness! It will happen! β
Sylvanas couldn't help but say.
"Maybe"
However, as if the situation was reversed, Kael'thas looked back and laughed:
"It's no less difficult than retrieving that coin in the sea."
It's just a little wish for yourself
Kael'thas knows better than anyone how hard that wish can be realized
The two separated
Sylvanas returned the knife and returned to her tent.
However, Kael'thas 's words lingered in her mind like a dream
So, in the dead of night, Sylvanas came to the seaside
"My sister who will make it happen will help you achieve it"
She whispered this, and jumped into the sea without hesitation.
[Like a fool]
In another tent, the old mage, who was reading a book, Mephites smiled bitterly
Feelings are such blind things that they are enough to turn a witty person into a fool
He has dedicated his life to magic, has he missed something?
ββ
Until the wee hours of the morning
Embarrassed and dejected, Sylvanas emerged from the sea to find the silver coin on the beach
She picked it up with a wry smile, then wiped the sand and saw Kael'thas wish
[I hope there will be no more sadness around me]
