Chapter 36: The City of Sulama

The waning moon slowly rises from the east, heralding the arrival of darkness. The city of Sulama, located not far from Aisara, is brilliantly lit, although it is not as brilliant and spectacular as Aisaline, but it has a thin beauty, if Aisaline is like a beautiful tulip, then Sulama is like a night chrysanthemum blooming in the night. The moment the moon rises is the moment when the sacrifice begins.

After the ceremony, Tyrande could finally have some time to himself. As the priestess of the Temple of the Moon God, she needs to give her full attention. But she didn't want it to be like that all the time. The benevolence of the Moon Goddess was the primary reason why Tyrande entered the Temple of the Moon to serve.

But there was one thing that bothered her for a long time. As the years passed, the relationship between Malfurion, Illidan, and her had changed. They are no longer the playmates of childhood. The simplicity and joy of childhood are gone, replaced by the complex relationships of the adult world.

For Malfurion and Illidan, her feelings have also changed. She knew that the two of them must have had a change in their feelings for her, too. The rivalry between the brothers had always been in a friendly atmosphere, but the more it became more and more obvious, and she didn't like it. By now, it has almost evolved into a fight with each other, more like a fight for something.

Tyrande knew—even if they didn't—that they were fighting for her.

She was simply flattered, but didn't want anyone to be hurt. But in the end, one of them will be harmed. In her heart, she had long known that when she was looking for a life partner, she must choose one of them, either Illidan or Malfurion.

Dressed in a silver hooded robe, Tyrande hurried through the grand marble hall of the temple without saying a word. When you look up, you can see a mural depicting the starry sky and the gods beautifully depicted. If you don't look closely, you'll think that this temple really doesn't have a roof. And the large chamber where the ceremony takes place is open-air, where the moonlight shines down, as if a mother is caressing her dear child.

Tyrande was carved with looming goddesses who had served as priests, and finally stepped over the marble floor of the porch. Here, covered with fine mosaics, like a chessboard, with patterns of the composition of the world, and some other portraits of gods. Of course, the moon goddess is in the most prominent position. The faces of the gods, almost without exception, were blurred. Only demigods, demimen, children, and acolytes have clear faces. One of them was Cenarius, whom many called the Son of the Moon and the Son of the Sun. Although he himself has not commented on this, Tyrande has always been willing to think so.

Outside, the cool breeze of the night made her feel more comfortable. Tyrande descended the snow-white slick steps and joined the crowd. Many people bowed their heads to greet her. Others respectfully gave way to the way. This may be a benefit to the priests of the Temple of the Moon. But at this moment, Tyrande really wanted to return to a peaceful and simple life.

It's true that Sulama City isn't as glamorous as Asaline, but she also has its own unique place. When Tyrande walked into the main square, he was greeted by bright and dazzling colors. The hawkers put out a wide variety of goods; The upper elves wore bright red robes encrusted with diamonds; Nearby, the elves of less social status wore a variety of other clothes. Everyone in the bazaar wants to put their best foot forward.

The house is also part of the local resident showcase. Tyrande saw a lot of colorful houses, and even the shops were painted in various colors. The light of the torch illuminated them like a flowing flame.

In Tyrande's limited experience, he hadn't encountered many races other than the Night Elves, but Malfurion always laughed at her race's preference for cheesy colors, and would even say to her face that they were colorblind. Although her own tastes are on the conservative side, though not as conservative as Malfurion. But she felt that the Night Elves just preferred a variety of colors.

In the center of the square, a group of elves gathered there. Most of them gestured, pointed, swearing, or sarcastically. Tyrande was a little curious, and couldn't help but want to see what was going on. At first, the crowd didn't notice her. It seems that what they are watching must be very strange. Then she gently patted the elf next to her on the shoulder, and she was immediately recognized. So the elf got out of the way. In this way, she walked into the crowd.

There is a cage in the middle, slightly shorter than her. The cage was made of steel, and it appeared that a beast was being held inside. Because of his strength, the cage rattled and there was an animal-like roar from time to time. The onlookers were full of discussions.

The elves standing in front of her refused to move any longer, and they stood still when someone was filming. But she was still very curious, so she could only see what was going on through the cracks, and the scene in front of her couldn't help but make her gasp.

"What is this?" Tyrande blurted out.

"Nobody knows." There happened to be a sentry on duty, wearing the cuirass and robes of the guards of Sulama City. "The Moon Guard used magic to get him here." Tyrande instinctively looked around, looking for a Moon Guardian to inquire about, but couldn't find one. Most likely, they captured the beast and left it to the guards to discuss what to do with him.

What's in the cage anyway?

Certainly not a troll, though she had thought so at first. Because even if he stood up straight, he was about a foot shorter than the Night Elves, but his body was almost twice as wide. Obviously, the beast was extremely strong. Tyrande had never seen such a strong beast. It's strange that the magic of the cage allowed the beast to stay inside.

Suddenly, an onlooker stabbed the motionless beast with a stick, causing another commotion. But the Night Elves never snatched the stick back from the beast's stout and powerful hands. When the beast gets angry, its face twists. If it weren't for the chains on his wrists, ankles, and head and neck, he would have broken the fence long ago. The chains kept him immobile, and even if he had the strength, he couldn't hold the fence.

Tyrande suddenly felt pity. Both Elune and Cenarius taught her to respect life. Although the beast looked like a devil at first glance, the green-skinned monster was dressed in very basic clothes - which at least showed that he had a minimum of intelligence. And now, being played like an animal like this is really not a good thing.

The beast had two empty brown bowls in front of him, and he should have eaten something. But such a big man, Tyrande thought he must not be full. She turned to the sentry and said, "Can I give me some more water and food?" ”

"I'm afraid I can't do what they didn't tell me." The sentry replied, his eyes still fixed on the crowd, and he had to maintain order.

"Do you need to be commanded by them?"

The sentry shrugged and said, "The upper authorities haven't decided what to do with him yet." Maybe you don't have to give him food and water anymore. ”

The Sentinel rejected her, but the Elven Night's sense of justice was not something that could be easily shaken.

"And if I bring some food, are you going to stop me too?"

"Please, you'd better not do that. The beast might have bit off your hand and swallowed it instead of eating the food you gave him. You'd better go. The guard was a little embarrassed.

"I'm going to give it a try." Before he could persuade her, Tyrande had already turned and left. She went straight to the nearest food stand and bought a jug of water and a bowl of soup. The beast in the cage seemed to eat meat, so he bought some fresh meat for him. The vendor refused to take her money, so Tyrande gave him some blessings and thanked him for returning to the square. After a long time of onlookers, it was boring, and by the time Tyrande returned to the square, most of the crowd had already withdrawn. In this way, it was easier for her to approach the beast. The beast glanced at her, thinking that another visitor had arrived. It wasn't until he saw what Tyrande was holding that he became interested.

He sat up as hard as he could, his green skin and sunken eyes under his thick eyebrows fixed on her. Tyrande guessed that he was getting old, for his hair was graying, and his rough face was already covered with the vicissitudes of life.

As long as Tyrande got closer to the beast, he could reach for the food as soon as he reached out, and she hesitated, if the other party suddenly broke out and hurt her, the sentry would surely pierce the beast's body with his sharp spear. It would be a great irony if such a thing happened. I wanted to save him, but in the end I sent him to a dead end. At this moment, a white figure appeared in front of her, long silver hair floating in the air, white magic robes and cloaks fluttering in the night wind, carrying a long sword with a dark golden hilt. Delicate facial features, pale green eyes looked at him with a hint of smile, Tyrande's face also showed a hint of joy, of course she knew each other, although she hadn't seen each other for more than seven hundred years, but he was one of her only three friends, the lord of the Black Coast was called the moon shadow of the Dawn Star.

"Long time no see, Tyrande." Moon Shadow looked at Tyrande and smiled, the queen ordered the energy of the Well of Eternity to be shut down, and he came to this Sulama City to see his old friend. Unexpectedly, as soon as I entered Sulama City, I saw Tyrande in the square.

"It's been a long time, why did you come to Sulama?" Tyrande asked with some curiosity and some joyful surprise.

"Just to see you, aren't you welcome?. Oh, Tyrande, are you going to change careers to become a chef? Moon Shadow couldn't help but joke as she watched Tyrande carry a string of raw meat and a soup pot.

"You're still so annoying when you speak." Tyrande's face darkened, she had learned how to barbecue meat with Moon Shadow, but every piece of food that passed through her hands could kill people, and even Illidan and Malfurion would turn blue when they saw it. "But Malfurion is still being taught by his teacher in the Moonlight Glade, and now it's just me and Illidan in Sulama.
