Chapter 268: The Burning Legion
The sky was torn apart by burning flames, and meteorites fell in droves.
The sound of the crash resounded in the sky, and the green flames raged, and the whole earth shook.
When Arthas opened his eyes from Darkan's grasp, he saw a sight that looked like the end of the world.
The steppe was engulfed in flames, and the sky and the earth were full of demons.
"Who is this ant?"
As the sun set over, Arthas looked up to see a giant he had never seen before.
He had a human-like face, but his chin had several writhing tentacles extending out, and his dull complexion glowed a faint orange glow in the setting sun.
"Master, he's the host Nao Zu is looking for."
The old voice answered the giant's words, but Arthas saw nothing.
"Host? Disgusting looks"
The giant said, and walked past Arthas.
The power of his walk made Arthas feel like his heart was about to stop.
When he came back to his senses, a man who exuded a chill followed him.
Arthas stared at him with wide eyes as the man slashed at him with a blue sword.
He reflexively reached out to stop it.
The sword stopped, but Arthas had already touched it.
He didn't even understand what was going on, and he was forever in darkness.
The light erupted in him, but it was extinguished in an instant.
Arthas understood everything - his soul no longer belonged to him, and he was no longer human.
But he didn't have the slightest resentment, no sadness, only an addiction to the power that roamed his body.
Arthas reached out a hand and grasped the hilt of his sword, and Baron Rivendell almost trembled as he let go of his hand and stepped back.
"His Highness Arthas"
The baron knelt in front of him, and Arthas did not find anything wrong with the title.
He picked up the ice from the ground and followed in the footsteps of the demon in front of him, Akmund.
The Dreadlord flew in from ahead.
"The Master"
The man named Tikdios knelt down towards Akmund and said:
"The human mages have sensed your coming, and they are ready to flee."
Akmund laughed.
His laughter made the air vibrate, and Arthas felt the scorching heat, and he turned his head to see that the light of the setting sun had been obscured by the figures of countless demons.
[Is he going to let these demons attack Dalaran?] γ
The nascent Death Knight couldn't help but think so.
But none of the demons acted, and the monsters remained silent and waited for instructions.
"They created monsters to thwart our millennial plans, and now they still want to escape?"
Akmund smiled, his huge eyes glowing with pale green flames.
"In that case, let me give my first gift to the world."
He slowly crouched down.
The flames burned all the green grass in front of him, leaving only a barren sand.
Akmund looked at Dalaran in the distance, then stretched out his hand to make a circular circle in the sand.
Soon, the sand inside the circle rose from the ground, and a strange model of Dalaran was formed.
Akmund held out his hand
Almost at the same moment, the light of the teleportation array lit up everywhere in Dalaran.
"Run!"
Antonidas roared loudly, gritting his teeth to form a purple shield over the entire Dalaran.
But this act was meaningless, and with a roaring sound, a phantasmatic hand appeared outside Violet Castle.
This hand grasped the body of the tower, and broke it down and crushed it as if it was playing.
The top of the huge tower fell from the sky, stones flew wildly, and the building collapsed.
Then, another hand appeared, slapping it towards Dalaran.
"Teacher!"
Antonidas heard Gianna's voice.
"Run, run as far as possible!"
The old mage stretched out his staff and pointed at Gianna, and the light on the staff shot out, and Gianna disappeared without a trace.
Terrible screams rang out everywhere in Dalaran.
The teleportation circle kept teleporting the mages all the time, but in less than half a minute, the entire Dalaran was razed to the ground.
The two big hands waved down again, and this time all the mages were immobilized, and the teleportation circle lost its light.
With a "boom", the whole Dalaran disappeared.
Arthas saw a huge cloud of smoke in the distance, and when he came back to his senses, he saw Akmund withdraw his hand that was pressed to the ground.
A powerful force, a power like no other in the world.
What race in this world can resist this force?
Arthas stood behind him tremblingly, not daring to move.
"Go and get rid of the ants that are running away."
Akmund said.
Suddenly, Arthas heard the roars of countless demons, and the wind blew behind himβthe wind of the demons' advance.
"Master, are you going to destroy the Lich King?"
Tikdios asked in a low voice.
Arthas felt the frost grief and the shiver of the ice.
"No"
However, Akmund rejected Tikdios' offer.
"I've come into this world, and they won't be any threat."
He wasn't worried about the Lich King at all now.
"Besides, it's a very good tool."
Akmund turned and looked at Arthas.
"From now on, all the undead will be at the mercy of Tikdios."
He easily decided the fate of the undead.
"Yes, master"
Alsace and Darkan replied at the same time.
The young Death Knight bowed his head, so Akmund didn't see the coldness in his eyes.
For the undead as a whole, their actual direct leaders are only Naozu and Darkan, so following Tikdios' orders will not affect their control.
Akmund's orders will instead allow the demons to help the undead legions become stronger.
If one day Akmund fails, then the world is the Lich King's.
Two Lich Kings
"Well, before I go to those damn dragons and the night, I smell better."
Akmund's gaze turned to the north, and a look of ecstasy appeared on his face:
"The breath of the Well of Eternity, that power is still so fascinating"
"Let's go, let's kill, go north"
The giant demon took a step, ignoring the surrounding landscape, and began to walk north.
He didn't rush straight through it, killing along the way would help his legions grow stronger - no amount of men could stop them.
ββ
When the aura of evil enveloped the sky, the elven mages sensed the arrival of Akmund.
From the breath left behind by the War of the Ancients, they once again knew of the arrival of the Burning Legion.
Whether it was the Well of the Sun Palace, Silvermoon City, or the entire forest of Quel'Thalas, all the elves fell silent in unison.
They looked sadly at the well of the sun in the north.
The sacred place, which still glowed golden in the sunset, burned silently with its flames.
Ten thousand years ago, the Burning Legion invaded this world for the Well of Eternity, and now, ten thousand years later, how can they spare the Well of the Sun?
However, 10,000 years ago, they were able to stop the Burning Legion
Ten thousand years later, this declining power is unable to do so.
Every elf knew the outcome of the game, but they waited, waited for their king's decision.
The silver-haired queen ran with her skirt drawn
Ignoring the strange eyes of the guards on both sides, she ran directly to the council chamber of the Tower of Succession.
"Your Majesty!"
Her voice broke the silence.
The entire council hall was densely packed with grim-looking elves, and they fixed their eyes on the queen.
"What are you going to do?"
The queen looked up at Anastarian, her eyes burning with determination, apparently with her own opinion.
Anastari watched her quietly.
"Retreat, evacuate all the children and civilians from Quel'Thalas."
He said this about the results of the discussion he had just discussed.
"Time is short, and we can only evacuate as many people as we can."
Anastarian added with some regret.
Quel'Salas is huge, and many villages are scattered in various forests, so it is impossible to evacuate them all in a month.
However, it is clear that the Burning Legion will not leave the elves for so long.
The queen clenched her hands.
"Can't you contact other races to resist?"
She asked.
The question caused the temperature in the chamber to plummet.
"We've been trying to get in touch with those guys since the evening, but so far nothing has responded"
Anastarian's face sank like water:
"Obviously, they gave us up and rallied around the World Tree."
The murderous aura permeated the air.
But no elf in this hall would dare to do that.
"Quiet"
It was the Flame Strike that sent out the murderous aura, and Anastarian was pacifying it.
"How, aren't they afraid that the Well of the Sun will be absorbed by Akmund?"
The queen couldn't believe that she was being used as bait.
The Well of the Sun is no less powerful than the World Tree, and if Akmund absorbs its power, no one will be spared.
"So, they believe that we will take the initiative to destroy the Well of the Sun."
Anastarian smiled coldly:
"These guys are pushing us into the pit."
"We have no choice."
He looked down at the queen with a somewhat complicated gaze.
"Therefore, no matter what, Kael'thas can't be allowed to have an accident right now."
As his words fell, several people hurried in from outside.
When the queen saw these men, her eyes widened.
She seemed to understand what Anastarian meant, and sighed and stood aside.
[That's fine. γ
The queen thought so.
"Your Majesty!"
The elves, men and women, knelt down at Anastarian and took the Salorian of Queldra. The Morning Seeker stepped forward.
"I will take them to stop the return of His Royal Highness"
Although he said this, there was a different stubbornness in his eyes.
Anastarian was unaware
