Chapter 18 Courage comes at a price
Sean hides in the forest, gathering his breath and blending in perfectly with the environment, waiting for his time to strike.
It has been a while since they were separated from Master, and the exchange of fire at the manor was gradually coming to an end, and the pirates had completed their full suppression and successfully invaded the manor. Through the dense foliage of the forest, Sean could clearly see the figures of some pirates returning from their plunder.
But it is clear that the pirates did not compete for the full success.
On the one hand, judging from the loot, most of it came from the periphery of the estate, including all kinds of precious works of art and large sums of credit. But there are several rooms in the heart of the manor, which they obviously can't get into, such as the central control room, the equipment room, the security arsenal, and the underground power station...... Sean had no idea what the pirates had seized into these rooms. On the other hand, many of the pirates who had landed were seriously wounded and embarrassed when they withdrew from the manor, and they wanted to call their companions back to fight again, but no one responded, so they had to run away with the large army with a curse.
Whether it was the manor's security forces retreating in time and defending the danger, or the master playing a mainstay role in it, in short, it seemed that the manor side did not have to worry.
Next up is your own side.
Not far away, a group of pirates broke through the ecological cabin in the woods, rudely dismantled all kinds of advanced instruments in it, and roared back.
A crudely modified smuggling ship staggered down to the icy rocks outside the woods, waiting for the pirates to return.
Sean thought in his heart and quietly followed.
It was an out-and-out rabble, disorganized in clothing and armament, and a large number of men and horses did not have strict command, relying entirely on overwhelming superiority in firepower and manpower to break through the weak defenses of the ecological cabin.
However, the gang seemed to have won a great victory, sometimes firing with guns in the direction of the manor, sometimes simply throwing incendiary grenades into the woodland, turning the carefully transplanted trees into flames.
Sean quickly approached, but did not rush to make a move, but hid in the shadows to carefully observe their behavior and habits.
Even a rabble would require a lot of preparation to blend in perfectly, and these pirates were obviously a dozen or so small teams of improvised and chaotic groups, but each of them had three or two familiar teammates around them, and the relationship between the teams was delicate. In Sean's eyes, it was a mess.
What's even more troubling is that when these people shout, they speak with an extremely thick accent, and Sean sounds like it is difficult, let alone imitated.
Fortunately, after observing for a while, Sean also had an idea.
His gaze was firmly fixed on the distance ahead, where three pirates in tattered armor hung at the end of the group.
Among these dozens of people, these three people are the most isolated, so Sean chose them as the starting point. The Jedi Padawan rode the night through the burning forest like a ghost, his figure always moving just right at the junction of fire and shadow, and his presence was not visible to the naked eye or thermal images.
Despite facing a rabble, Sean was as cautious as ever, and it wasn't until he got closer than half a meter behind the three men that he thundered out. The flowing Force locked the heads of the two men like pincers, slamming into the middle, as Sean's figure rose into the air, his toes swept over the throat of the third man.
The three fell to the ground almost at the same time.
After Sean dealt with the three men, he immediately ripped off the armor and tattered burqa of one of the pirates of his size and put them on his body, while he kicked the other two into the woods one by one and hid them.
In just a dozen seconds, Sean completed the simple disguise, picked up the still useful equipment on their bodies - blasters, thermal grenades, and a bucket of fuel, and followed them to the end of the large army.
If you can't blend perfectly into a single team, simply go solo. And the rabble in front of them didn't notice that there were no people at the end of the team, only a few people saw Sean hanging far behind, and scolded him to hurry up and not delay time.
After listening to a few words, Sean realized that his decision was correct, and the next escape path was clear. The three-person team he chose had very little contact with other teams, and as long as they were cautious in their words and deeds after boarding, they would not show too many flaws. When you get to the pirate's base, it's even more open.
However, just as the procession was making its way out of the woods and preparing to board the ship, they heard a commotion nearby, and a group of pirates let out cheers of surprise, followed by gunfire.
Sean was amazed, and hurriedly staggered behind the team, and after bypassing a few burning bushes, he saw the battlefield of the firefight.
A small ship crashed diagonally next to a forest spring, and judging by the ship's livery, it was clearly not the same as the pirates, it was an escape ship in the manor.
Sean was a little surprised, because he had only confirmed with his master before that there should be no spaceship in the manor, and where was this ship hidden? Is there a dock harbor for secret escapes outside the manor?
But more surprising is yet to come.
As the pirates shot down the escape ship, the hatch of the ship opened, and several security guards in black armor staggered out with their hands raised, only to be beaten into a sieve by the dense energy beam as soon as they got out.
Then, the nearest pirates swarmed up and rushed into the ship, and a moment later, a woman's scream rang out.
"Let go of me, you maggots!"
"Don't kill me, please don't kill me......"
Crying, screaming, scolding...... Reactions varied, but without exception, dressed in servant costumes, and they were dragged out of the cabin by the pirates grinning and arranged in a row in front of the wreckage of the escape ship like exhibits, with 10 people in sight at a glance. And the first one to wear a bright red dress was Li Qiong, the housekeeper of the manor!
Sean instantly remembered the whole process: when the alarm sounded in the manor, Li Qiong had already escaped from the secret passage of the manor with a group of servants, and they ran all the way to the dock under the forest, found the only escape boat, and started the spacecraft with the help of the security team members...... Unfortunately, he was hit in the head.
In fact, this is almost an inevitable result, the entire asteroid where the manor is located is covered by the fire of pirate fighters, and the satellite positions on the periphery have long been destroyed under the huge group of aircraft.
But it's only a matter of time.
The murderous pirates certainly did not spare these servants, and let their exhibits generally stand in a row just for the convenience of observation and the valuation of each person. Valuable ones will be taken away and sold at a high price, while those who are not valuable will be turned into targets for blasters on the spot.
In fact, there were already servants who were a little older and were considered worthless, and they were targeted by seven or eight blasters at the same time, and their lives were on the line!
Sean stood at the end, his heart cold.
Although he is only an apprentice, Sean has traveled in the galaxy with his master for many years, and at the age of 17, he has seen a lot of incredible darkness in his life, and this scene in front of him seems a bit "human".
And clearing away this darkness is the "human nature" of the Jedi Apprentice.
There were nearly 100 pirates present, and although they were a rabble, most of them had blasters in their hands and had basic combat experience, and once a melee began, even if these people fired indiscriminately, it was enough to pose a mortal threat to a single person. What's more, there are fighter planes hovering over everyone's heads, and on the smuggling ship not far away, the gunners also aim their guns here.
Therefore, the rational conclusion is that if you don't see it, it is better to sneak into the smuggling ship even while the pirates are paying attention to these trophies, kill the pilot, and escape in the smuggling boat by yourself.
The master did not hesitate to sacrifice himself to stay in the manor, precisely in exchange for Sean's freedom.
But it only took Sean half a second to make his own judgment, he raised his blaster and aimed at the two leaders of this rabble, barely called the commander, and two accurate and sharp shots directly knocked them to the ground!
When everyone was stunned, Sean threw all the captured thermal grenades into the crowd at the end of the group, and after a few booms, the pirates flew around like weeds blown by the wind, wailing all over the field.
Sean did not take this opportunity to escape, but in the chaos, he aimed his blaster at the pirates surrounding the servant, and continued to shoot accurately.
One by one, the pirates fell like cattle on an assembly line, and it wasn't until the pirates fell more than ten people that someone finally reacted effectively.
Several beams of energy were aimed at Sean.
Sean was prepared and rolled on his side to avoid the fire, and several pirates who were close roared in pursuit, but were engulfed by a wall of fire that suddenly rose under his feet - Sean had already sprinkled fuel in front of him before he could do it. And when the survivors were about to bypass the wall of fire and pursue, a counterattack from Sean knocked them down on the spot.
So far, Sean has managed to capture everyone's attention.
Either out of fear, or out of anger, Sean made all the pirates forget about their loot for a while.
And because Sean's preemptive capture was so successful, most of the pirates simply chose to flee in all directions, and only a few people were in a hurry to chase after Sean.
But they soon discover that chasing a man in a dark woodland who can't even see his true face is suicidal.
Sean's figure was always in their field of vision, not far away, not close, as if he could catch up with him by running a few steps. But once they got closer, there were a few accurate shots coming to the head. The pirates tried to fight back, only to find that the figure in sight was gone.
After a few rounds, the pursuers continued to lose their numbers, and even the bravest pirates did not dare to chase them anymore, so they had to scatter with a roar. However, the act of turning around and fleeing made them excellent targets. Shots from the shadows of the jungle carry out this harvest constantly, with precision and ruthlessness.
Sean kept beating the blaster in his hand until it was completely broken down and scrapped, then he stopped shooting, looking at the pirates who had collapsed in the distance, and the manor maids who fled to the secret passage in a hurry, he breathed a sigh of relief, but the solemnity in his heart did not diminish in the slightest.
Because the smuggling ship that had been parked not far away had flown away.
