Chapter 57: The Girl Who Fell from Her Head

I ran through the dark passages, away from the hall behind me. No matter how far she had run, perhaps only a short distance, she felt that her steps had not left there, and Julius seemed to be right behind her. She shouldn't have left if she hadn't had the slightest ability to fight, and she wouldn't have wanted to, but as Julius said, she was really useless there - if it was a wayfinding or reconnaissance thing, her petite and nimble body, and the experience of exploring the sewers all the time, would have made her useful—if it were normal, it was.

But now it was different, they were in a strange environment, they had black robes that were familiar with this place and were chasing them, and these black robes made Rei feel fear from the bottom of her heart, and her feelings became much slower. She didn't know what was going on, maybe it was some strange spell, or if she was really scared...... These were all things that had already happened, and it was useless for her to think about them, because she couldn't solve them. It was as if she was running wild right now, leaving Julius alone.

She ran and thought, but no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn't think of how she could help Julius. She believed in Julius's skills, but she didn't blindly think that Julius could really easily deal with two people who looked like mages, even if Julius seemed to have mastered the situation by the time she left, which is why she was able to leave safely.

Julius, please, don't die here...... Rei could only pray in her heart that Julius would appear behind her safe and sound. She didn't want to see Julius die to protect herself, he could have escaped, but she risked her life to stay there for someone like her, whom she hadn't known for even a year, and confront those dangerous black robes.

If you grow up and have power...... Rei has always wanted to grow up, but never hated her weakness so much as she does now.

The pain from the wound on her face made her forget the fatigue of her feet, and she ran without stopping, passing through another hall. This hall is no different from the one just now, there is also a hole in the ceiling, but Rei is not in the mood to care about this now, this is not the terminal, just a place that is not worth paying attention to halfway. Besides, the hall was so empty that there was nothing to pay attention to.

But just as she was about to leave the hall, she heard a voice from above. There was a rumbling sound from the ceiling, and Lei, who was very experienced in the collapse from above, became alert, looked up, and her ears were pricked up, she didn't want to ignore the environment around her because she was too panicked, and she was crushed to death by the collapsing ceiling, so the life that Julius desperately saved was really meaningless.

The ceiling showed no signs of crumbling, but the sound of something flowing from inside was deeply disturbing. After listening for a while, Rei realized that it was the sound of liquid flowing, which is why the movement on the ceiling was so loud.

Rei didn't know what was going on, the movement from her head was not small, no matter how she looked at it, it didn't look like it could make people feel at ease, she was worried that if she continued to run forward, would the ceiling suddenly fall, but now it would be too difficult for her to find a safe way.

A thought crossed her mind, this place must be completely finished...... She didn't think that the presence of rats like herself and Julius would cause such a chain reaction, and if she had to say it, the two black robes might be even more suspicious.

As Rei was thinking about what to do next, the hole made a very loud noise. There was a boom, and it sounded like something heavy had been removed. Then, Rei saw water pouring down from the hole. The water that fell from the mouth of the cave was not the scale of a thin stream, but a column of water as thick as the mouth of the entire cave. A large amount of water poured down from the hole and landed on the floor of the hall, splashing and soaking up her body. She blocked her eyes, looked through her fingers, and saw that the hole was still flowing down, like a jar that had been pierced to the bottom, and the water was flowing out of that gap.

But if it's just a jar, you won't have that much water. The water was pouring down, and soon the water on the ground was flooding her shoes, soaking the entire soles of her feet. She was worried that this place would not be flooded directly, if it was just water falling from the ceiling in this place, then the floor would not be covered with water so quickly, and she heard the sound of water everywhere else, which meant that what was happening here was not a special case, it was happening in other places.

She didn't want to stay here, but listening to the rumbling sound of water coming from the passage behind her, she thought that if she ran out now, she might be swept away by the current somewhere, and then rush somewhere else, and the worst case would be that she would be washed back in front of the black robe, and there would be no more luck. She wondered if this could be a good thing for the black-robed men, but was it just to deal with her and Julius that they were making such an exaggerated move?

Luckily for Rei, the water began to fall less, and the water column at the beginning became a slender stream of water, until no more water fell.

But before the water stopped, something fell from the hole and landed in front of Rei. It wasn't water, it was a very solid weight, it didn't look big, but it made a splash when it fell to the ground. When the thing fell to the ground, it screamed, and it sounded like it had fallen, making Rei feel like the wound on her head was shaking.

The voice sounded like a female voice, not much louder than Lei. When the thing stood up, Rei finally saw what had fallen.

It was a girl who wasn't much taller than her, and if she looked at her, she was definitely much older than a child, but compared to other adults, she was a girl entirely.

The girl was soaking wet, and the cloak on her body was clinging to her body, and the droplets of water continued to drip on the edge of the cloak, falling on the surface of the water, causing small ripples.
