Chapter 44: A Mess
Barrick took out a piece of gold and placed it in front of his eyes, under the sun, and looked at it carefully. The surface of the gold coin is free of any impurities, smooth and flat, and there is not even a single carving. He pinched the gold coin between his thumb and forefinger, rubbed it vigorously a few times, and then put it back in front of his eyes. He kept his left eye open and his right closed, staring at the small piece of gold.
"Is this what you can do, ma'am?" said Barrick, "if these golden knick-knacks are genuine, then I must say that you are not very wise in your way of spending your money." β
"Is this really worth it?" Lulunaka smiled, "To me, it's just boredom and a forged thing, and there's nowhere to spend it." β
Barrick's brow furrowed imperceptibly when he heard this, and he put the blank gold coin into the small bag, intending to tie the pocket tightly, but couldn't help but take out a few more and put them in the palm of his hand. "Minting coins is not the behavior of a good citizen, ma'am. He said to Lulunaka.
"About this. Lulunaka's fingers were intertwined and placed a little higher on her lower abdomen, which gave her a more dignified look, but her next words were completely different from the impression she gave people, "Why do you think I will be a good citizen? Mr. Barrick, who can be a good citizen in front of this glittering little thing?"
"That's a big temptation. Barrick smiled and played with the gold coins he had bought, "But in business, sometimes you have to worry about your own safety, otherwise if you lose your life, you can't do business." β
"I'm sure you'll take it. Lulunaka said, "It's better that only someone like you can accept such a thing." If it were anyone else, I wouldn't have necessarily pulled out this money bag. Something bright with gold will bring wealth, but if you give it to the wrong person, you may bring death. β
"You mean they won't bring me death?" Barrick asked.
Lulunaka grinned, "You're a Barrick Gold Cup, and gold should be as ordinary to you as breathing." When I saw you, I thought to myself, oh my God, this is a dwarf with a golden glow, and he's so much more pleasing than the old iron heads who smell of dirt and molten iron. β
Barrick smiled politely back, "I thank you for the compliment, ma'am, but it's a bit overwhelming to me. β
Lulunaka sighed and shrugged, "You mean you're not going to take this? Well, I've got some double-headed eagle coins here, they're all worn out decades ago, but they're better than the coins that pretend to be gold coins with gold flakes on them......"
Lulunaka reached out to retrieve the purse full of gold coins, but Barrick's hand shrank back, leaving Lulunaka scratching the air, "Ma'am, trading this kind of thing can't be reversed without a valid reason." β
Lulunaka's outstretched hand closed one by one, grabbing only air, but her face was full of joy, "That's right, Mr. Barrick. Isn't that the best currency for a gold coin of this purity, and without any pattern? No one is at odds with gold, and neither are you. β
"It's not greed, ma'am. Barrick laughed, "Since both sides agree that this deal makes sense, there is nothing wrong with it." And to do business, you still have to have a minimum of trust in the other party, even if the other party is just someone you just met. Barrick stuffed the gold coins in his palm into his purse, tied the bag tightly, and put it in his arms. "I also believe you, ma'am, that an old man like you would never play with an honest man like me, would he?"
"Don't you believe the gold I gave you?"
"No, I don't believe it. Barrick said bluntly, but immediately followed by another sentence, "But I believe you, ma'am. β
Lulunaka's eyes curved into the shape of a crescent moon, "Thank you for your trust, Mr. Barrick. β
"Each other, ma'am. Barrick smiled, "Although there are fewer worries about doing business, if you can have a trust as a foundation, it can still make people a lot easier." β
Lulunaka kept a smile and didn't answer. She didn't think Barrick would really believe in him unconditionally, and he probably had a lot of work to do when he returnedβsuch as finding out the details of Lulunaka, checking the gold coins for anything suspicious, and whether there were more secrets he didn't know about the yard he had bought for decades......
Merchants are always like this, Lulunaka doesn't mind, even if he really has doubts, in the end, he can probably only touch his head and find nothing. Lulunaka didn't think she had anything suspicious, and she didn't have any intention of making trouble or doing anything bad when she returned to the King's Castle, she just came back, and that's it.
"I'll bring another ownership tomorrow. Barrick said, then looked around, "I don't think you can stay in this place for a while, ma'am, if you wish, you are welcome to stay at my hotel." β
Lulunaka shook her head, "I can't sleep well if I don't live in the place I'm used to, not even with a pillow, thank you for the invitation, Mr. Barrick." If this business satisfies you, I hope you can prepare something for me. Please rest assured, it's not a dangerous thing, and your words will definitely be easy to arrange for me......"
By the time Pasta and Julius returned to the courtyard, Barrick had already left, leaving only Lulunaka still here. Lulunaka was crouching beside a messy grass, plucking it with her hands. Hearing Pasta and Julius, she turned her head to look, then went back to her work on the weeding at hand, "Go get those little sickles, and shovels, don't stand there stupidly." β
Julius hurriedly returned to the Whimsy and brought the tools with him. Everyone had a small scythe in their hands and began to weed the yard, and Ward ran over and bit off the weeds with his mouth.
The yard is not big, although there are a lot of weeds, but it is not to the extent that three people and one dog can't clean up. The weeds are piled aside, making them a suitable option if there is a need for fuel.
Lulunaka set the scythe aside, felt the pocket of her waist, and then touched her back. She pulled her cane out of her back, no one could see where she got it from, and she couldn't fit such a slender thing in her cloak without any traces.
"You go into that room and check it out to see if there's anything that's getting old enough to crumble, be careful if you have one, and if you don't, check the ceiling and walls and things like that. I don't want to get hit by a wall while I'm sleeping. β
Julius hesitated, "Didn't you say this place was haunted?"
Lulunaka looked at Julius in surprise, "Little hero, are you really afraid of ghosts, so afraid that you don't even dare to go in during the day?" she shook her head and made a smack sound that sounded like pity, but more like mockery. As a result, Julius blushed and followed Pasta inside.
Lulunaka spun her cane and pulled out a fiery crystal from her pocket and embedded it in the tip of her cane. She pointed the tip of her cane at the ground, and a small beam of flame erupted from the crystal and landed in the dilapidated floor and crevices.
"Weeding this kind of thing, you still have to be careful, otherwise it will grow again. Lulunaka muttered to herself, humming a cheerful tune, and walked around the yard.
