Chapter 67: The Stupa Listens to the Sutras

Old Man Liu was not ambiguous, so he agreed at that time and took me to wander around the city in vain.

As I expected, the ghosts we met along the way would hide away from him as if a rabbit had seen a tiger.

"Old man, are you also a ghost fairy?" I couldn't help but ask.

The old man smiled and shook his head, "Yes and no." ”

I didn't dare to ask, this thing is yes, it's not, how can it still come out yes and no?

The old man seemed to see through the question in my heart, "I was originally a willow tree that became a spirit, but then I suffered a catastrophe and my body was destroyed, so I came to the city of vain death, the grass, trees, sand and stones are not in the six realms of reincarnation, if I have to say what I am, then I may be a demon." ”

"I'm sorry, old man, for mentioning your sad past." I quickly apologized.

Who knows, Old Man Liu just shook his head, "The cycle of life and death has a fixed number, and I have been in this vain city for about two thousand years, if I can't even figure this out, then it will be in vain." ”

If I wasn't in the state of a soul, I would definitely flash to my waist when I heard him say this, and it has been two thousand years since I came to the city of vain death, so what era of willow tree does he have to be?

I remember hearing Sister Xiao Yao say that plants, trees, sand and stones can also be cultivated, but it takes a long time just to open up the spiritual wisdom, and the trees can be hundreds of years or thousands of years.

And opening the mind is only the beginning of the practice for the trees, because they don't have the wisdom themselves.

In fact, a small number of out of the horse hall will have the outer five elements of the immortal family in addition to the fox yellow and white willow gray, like the old man Liu can be zoned into the outer five elements of the immortal family, but basically there is no tree immortal in the horse hall.

"Old man, why don't you make a horse fairy?" I asked curiously.

"When people get older, they don't like to move, and they can't go to other people's places to eat and live for nothing." Old Man Liu shook his head with a smile.

Although I didn't ask, I didn't believe it, my intuition told me that he definitely didn't go to the hall for this reason, so what else could it be, looking down on the hall?

It's right to think about it, his thousands of years of Taoism, the general Great Sect Master of the Horse Hall is not as good as him, but there are few Outer Five Elements Immortal Sect Masters who are the Great Sect Masters.

People often say that they are full of warmth and lust, and they say that the ugly thing is that they are full of food, and the safety of my life is guaranteed with Mr. Liu here, looking at those ghosts coming and going, I can't help but feel sad.

I actually died, and in just one day, I completed the transformation from the living to the dead, and from then on, my family, friends, and games...... Everything I knew would be far away from me.

The more I thought about it, the more sad I felt, but ghosts don't have tears, so my facial expressions became very exciting.

"Sad, young man?" Old Man Liu was keenly aware of the changes in me.

There's nothing to hide, and I readily admit it.

"Life and death, slowly you will find that compared to the almost endless years after death, the time of life is simply too short, and the so-called life is short."

"Being able to practice is actually a very rare thing, because only by practicing can we transcend birth, old age, sickness and death, resentment, love and parting, can't beg, the eight hardships and eight difficulties of the five yin sheng, the year of wiping the horns, there are almost no people who can embark on the road of cultivation with a human body, more are mountain spirits and wild monsters, ghosts and ghosts, and slowly you will get used to it."

The old man said to me earnestly, and directly laid out the big reason.

At this moment, I really want to cry without tears, "Old man, I can't keep up with my ideological consciousness." ”

The old man smiled without saying a word, and stretched out his hand to point ahead.

I looked over and saw that the number of ghosts in front of me had decreased, and the ghosts that came and went didn't look so vicious.

"What is this?" I don't understand why this change is happening.

"The listening hall is about to arrive, and the ghosts who are disgruntled generally don't come here, and those good ghosts who have been influenced by the Dharma don't want them to come over and disturb the purity of the Buddhism." The old man said.

I see, it dawned on me that the best destination for ghosts who don't have grievances is to come to this scripture listening center, of course, if they have Buddha fate and don't get killed on the way.

After all, not everyone can be as lucky as me, and someone superior will rescue them.

Later, I also figured out that it is not unreasonable for the city to die in vain because of this atmosphere, the vast majority of those who have no grievances have been killed, and those who can practice are all self-enlightened by evil ghosts.

Needless to say, it is needless to say how low the probability of enlightenment of a traitorous person is, and over time, this place will become a flock of crows, only black.

Suddenly, I remembered Shen Hongdie, who I had met in Rootless, and although I had only met once, she left a deep impression on me.

"Old man Liu, do you know a girl named Shen Hongdie? Her family lives in the rootless Tu Garden. I asked.

Old Man Liu's smiling expression froze, and then returned to normal, but I still caught it keenly, and he shook his head, "Old man, I haven't left the City of Vain for a long time, and I've only heard of it without roots, and I haven't been there." ”

I hesitated for a moment and didn't choose to continue asking, it is very likely that Old Man Liu knew Shen Hongdie, at least he had heard of it, but for some reason, he couldn't say it, so I didn't need to ask.

If he doesn't plan to say anything, it will be useless for me to ask, and if he is not happy to ask, the consequences will be even more unimaginable.

The old man quickly diverted the subject to another place, and I knew it, so I followed him, and as I went, a huge building appeared in my sight.

It was a stupa dozens of meters high, through the window you could see the monks chanting in it, at the top of the pagoda, there was a faint glowing sphere, I had read the Journey to the West I speculated that it was a relic.

Around the pagoda is a circular square, scattered ghosts, they all folded their hands, the closer to the pagoda the ghost's expression is more serene, I vaguely see that the innermost circle of ghosts has a faint golden light on their bodies.

The edge of the square is like a dividing line, and the ghosts outside are all standing and listening to the scriptures, their expressions changing from time to time, sometimes happy, sometimes vicious, sometimes confused, sometimes relieved.

Some of the ghosts seemed to have an epiphany, took a step forward into the square, sat down cross-legged, folded their hands, and closed their eyes.

Some of the ghosts in the square will move forward on their own, and of course, some will stand up and leave the square.

Standing here, I can already hear the voice inside the chanting room, the scripture I am reading is the Sanskrit version, I don't know which one, but I am very sensitive to the sound of chanting in the state of my soul, although I can't understand it, but I feel very comfortable all over, and the fatigue caused by running away is gradually alleviating.

"We're right here?" All the way to the edge of the square, I whispered to Mr. Liu, other ghosts are listening carefully to the scriptures, I am really embarrassed to make a loud noise.

"Let's go ahead and try, maybe you'll be able to get in." Old Man Liu said, and walked into the square first.

I hurriedly followed, and following him was the only thing that would give me a sense of security in this hellish place.

As I walked into the square, I didn't feel any discomfort, on the contrary, as I approached the stupa, the chanting in my ears became clearer and the feeling of comfort intensified.

Old Man Liu glanced back, and there was a look of surprise in his eyes when he saw me following up, but the next moment he smiled happily.

"It's good, it's worthy of being a person of fate." Old Man Liu said three good words in a row, and then turned around and walked forward quickly.

I didn't feel any discomfort, so I strode behind, but I didn't expect that we walked directly to the bottom of the pagoda, and Old Man Liu sat cross-legged directly at the front.

There is only one old man Liu in an arc, and I have a new understanding of him.

He sat down cross-legged and folded his hands together, the moment his eyes closed, the golden light behind him was shining, and there was a faint lotus flower flickering above his head.

I looked sluggish, but I quickly reacted and sat next to Old Man Liu, everyone else was sitting, and it was too abrupt for me to stand alone.

What I didn't expect was that my body slid forward uncontrollably when I sat down, and appeared in a position higher than that of Old Man Liu.

This alone was nothing, but my body turned around on its own, and changed from facing the stupa to facing the ghosts listening to the scriptures.

The next moment, as far as my eyes could see, including Old Man Liu, all the ghosts opened their eyes and looked at me.

I was so embarrassed that I wanted to turn around, but I couldn't move for some reason, but they just looked at me and quickly closed their eyes again.

Old Man Liu gave me a meaningful smile and closed his eyes.

I also wanted to close my eyes, but when I thought of so many ghosts sitting in front of me, I couldn't close my eyes under the psychological effect.

In desperation, I had no choice but to give up and listen to the scriptures with my eyes open.

"The incense burns, the Dharma realm is smoked, the sea of Buddhas will be heard from afar, auspicious clouds everywhere, sincerity is good, the Buddhas are all over the body, and there is no incense cloud cover Bodhisattva Mahasattva......"

The previous verse has ended, this one is the Chinese version, and this passage is the incense praise at the beginning of the verse.

When I first read the Jizo Sutra, I was very familiar with this passage, but unfortunately I didn't memorize it.

With the sound of chanting coming from the stupa behind me, I subconsciously whispered along.

After becoming a ghost, my memory seems to have improved, and the verses of the scriptures that I used to be unable to remember gradually became clear in my mind.

"The fourth meeting of Huayan, the night skyscraper palace, the immeasurable Bodhisattva came to gather, saying that the Buddha ......"

When the Kyaw Lin Bodhisattva sounded, I suddenly felt that this scripture was somewhat familiar.

"Ji Shou is pure in nature, endless Buddha Tibetan Great Mercy, incense clouds in the southern world, fragrant rain and flower rain and flower rain ......"

When this scripture appeared, I was completely sure that this was the Jizo Bodhisattva Sutra.

I did not memorize the full text of this sutra in three volumes and thirteen articles, but my instinct drove me to read it aloud with the monks in the stupa.
