Chapter 51: The Spinning Top
At this point, Julius finally entered, only the sleeves and trouser cuffs were tattered, and a good clean and complete garment became ragged. He carefully held the silver top, the iron thorn strip wrapped around it, "This thing almost scratched my face!" he shouted to Lulunaka, "Why throw such a dangerous thing here?" β
"Isn't it okay for you? Lulunaka said, "If you do see blood, then it's dangerous for you, and I don't think you're weak enough to be hurt by a toy, right?"
Julius had an expression of disbelief on his face, "Toy, you say this thing that can scrape off a large piece of flesh from an ordinary person is just a toy?"
"It's just a spinning top, what else could it be?"
"It's a murder weapon. β
Pasta chimed in, "I suggest you don't try to convince her that it's really just a toy for herβit's just that it's not for anyone to play with. β
Julius agrees with Pasta's words, and he is almost dragged into the rhythm of arguing with Lulunaka there. He put the top back on the exhibition stand, at which point Lulunaka said to him, "Be careful, be careful." This thing doesn't need to be turned with a rope, as long as there is enough pressure on the bottom of it, the mechanism will be triggered and it will turn on its own. To put it simply, if you push it down a little harder, it will continue to bloom. β
Lulunaka's words frightened Julius to pull her hand away from the top, and then reached over and turned the top upside down, so that the bottom side was facing up.
"Who are you going to sell this to?" Pasta asked.
"Whoever wants it, sell it to whomever it wants, as long as the price is right. Lulunaka said, "It's a small toy, but if you calculate the cost, it's still quite expensive." β
At that moment, a man walked in through the door. The dwarf Barrick looked around, stroked his beard and nodded, "What a nice place." β
Lulunaka greeted Barrick with a smile on her face, "Welcome, Mr. Barrick, you're the first customer of our shop. β
"I am very happy to be your first guest, Madame. Barrick said, "But doesn't Madame take the matter of opening a shop seriously? Not many people come to such a remote place, and Madame, it seems that your shop doesn't even have a roll call?"
"I've got the name of the store ready, but I haven't hung it yet. Lulunaka said, then pulled something out from behind her. It was a delicate lantern with a chain on it and a wooden sign underneath, "Luna's Cauldron of Alchemy...... What's the name?"
"Madame, if you wish, it's a good name. Barrick laughed.
"I think so too. Lulunaka handed the lantern to Julius, "Go outside and hang it up." By the way, it's a lantern, but don't light it at night, it will attract strange things. β
"Strange thing, that's not a guest. Julius said,
"Of course it won't be a guest, what guest would come to me in the middle of the night?" Lulunaka stuck out her finger and nodded her lips, "No, you can't say that, a guest with something unspeakable might actually secretly visit in the middle of the night - and besides, the guest doesn't have to be a living person, right?"
Julius went outside to hang up the sign with the lantern.
"I don't think that's a good thing. "The customers who go out late at night are either addicts or those who have contracted that disease." β
"No matter how unbearable it is, it's all guests, of course, those who can't afford to pay are naturally not guests, that's another matter. Lulunaka smiled and said to Barrick, "Mr. Barrick, you are the first customer of our restaurant, and thank you so much for helping me so much before. β
"It's just mutually beneficial, ma'am. Barrick laughed, "And trading with you, Madame, is very reassuring and fruitful." β
"Pretty gold coins and pure crystals?" Lulunaka asked.
"Those are small profits, the real harvest is that I know such a lady as you, and I have your friendship. Barrick laughed.
"Mr. Barrick, you are such a delightful dwarf. Lulunaka looked very happy, her eyes were bent into the shape of a crescent moon, "Mr. Barrick, as a commemoration and thank you for opening the store today, you can pick any of the things in this store and take them with you." β
For a big businessman like Barrick, other people's gifts did not make him feel excited, and there were too many people who wanted to please him, but they were just ordinary people, and gold and silver treasures could no longer really excite him. But if it's Lulunaka, it's different. A gift from an old monster who doesn't know how long he's lived, is it a blessing or a curse, a fortune or a disaster?Barrick's heart beat slightly, and he was glad from the bottom of his heart that he had made a good impression on Lulunaka - at least that's what he thought from Lulunaka's attitude.
Barrick looked at the surrounding booths and shelves, "Ma'am, you're so generous. β
"It depends on what you choose. Lulunaka laughed, "Maybe you won't thank me in the future, but hate me?"
Barrick's brow twitched, it was a difficult choice. In this case, he was not stupid enough to refuse Lulunaka, it seemed that he didn't pick anything, but he didn't choose this "choice", which was already the worst choice. Now he had to choose one of Lulunaka's goods that he felt comfortable with and that Lulunaka was happy with.
He looked at the things on the exhibition stand next to him, and just happened to see the silver spinning top, he stretched out his fingers and stroked the surface of the silver thorn strips with his fingertips, "What a beautiful handicraft." β
"Do you like this?" asked Lulunaka.
Barrick nodded, "Who doesn't love something so beautiful?" and then he shook his head immediately, "But thorny flowers are too dangerous." β
When Julius came in, he happened to see Barrick stroking the spinning top that had made him suffer, "Be careful, that thing can easily be triggered, and if you don't pay attention, your face will be scratched." He reminded Barrick.
"I know. Barrick said, "I saw such a delicate mechanism at first sight. He didn't seem to heed Julius's warning, and took the top in his hand, which made Julius take a few steps back and duck to the side. "It's so perfect, this should be your collection, madame. β
Lulunaka sat down on the counter, dangling her legs and looking like a naughty child, "It's just a little toy made out when I'm bored, and my uncle and I just argued about whether it's a toy or not." β
Barrick and Pasta looked at each other, and both saw the helpless smile in each other's eyes. To Barrick, Lulunaka is an eccentric old woman, but to Pasta, it's probably a troublesome elder β and that elder is like a child. To make matters worse, this "kid" is not only a freak, but perhaps a monster.
"Can I use this?" Barrick said to Lulunaka, who nodded and pointed out the door, "Don't use it here, I'll ask you for compensation?"
Barrick walked to the doorway and threw the top into the open space outside. No one told him how to use the top, and he had already thrown it out, as if he knew everything about what was in his hand.
After the top hit the ground, it swirled, and the thorn strips on the top spun and spread out, scraping through the air and leaving a chaotic sound.
Barrick stared at the top until it stopped. It took a while for the spinning top to tilt and fall to the ground. Barrick picked it up and put it back on the stand. "It's a good thing. He said.
"Have you changed your mind?" Lulunaka laughed.
Barrick shook his head, "I have a lot of things and methods to kill people, but this kind of torture prop, forget it." β
