Volume 4: Compromise and Struggle Chapter 40: The Sound of Gunfire
It was as if a thunderbolt was cleaving in his head, and Pierce was dizzy in pain and dizziness trying to get up from the ground, but he tried twice to no avail. He could only open his eyes with all his might, open his mouth and gasp for breath.
It seemed like a mistake, as his movements made his pain a little more intense, but it also passively made him a little more awake. His gaze gradually condensed, and everything blurred in front of him became a little clearer.
He found himself on his knees, his hands on the ground, his face down, towards the floor. He heard a ticking sound, like something was dripping continuously, something like a drop of water. Then he realized it was his blood.
His blood flowed down the corners of his mouth, dripping down from the edge of his lips to the ground, and had gathered into small, red puddles. The sound he heard was the sound of new blood dripping on it, and it was this discovery that made him realize that his mouth was now full of blood. The punch from Tiji had nearly broken his jaw, completely ignoring his sturdy face—a man of their kind who was quite thick-skinned.
Then he heard something again. He couldn't hear it at first, but he was sure he heard it, and he slowly made out it - it was the sound of a fist hitting flesh. He knew that sound, because he and the people around him often made it. But now he didn't make it himself, and he didn't know where the sound came from, the only thing he knew for sure was that it was very close to him—very close.
He finally raised his head, though it was not easy, but he raised his head and sat down on the ground leaning against the wall. He wiped a handful of blood from his face, squeezed his eyes, and looked at what was happening in the picture in front of him.
He saw Susan—the little girl was no longer on the couch, but standing in a corner of the living room, far from here. What makes him pay special attention to is the state she is showing now, not that she is in a bad state, but she is acting really strangely.
She had the gun in her hand, the one that Tilo had given her and that they had snatched from her. It looks like it's back in her hands now, but why is it back in her hands?
Pierce had a headache and decided not to think about it for now. He cared about something else—the energetic ponytail girl, the expression on her brown skin with a little cute freckles was slightly wrong.
She pursed her lips tightly, her eyes wide, and she gasped a little sharply in a certain direction. It can't be said that she looks panicked, because she is very calm, or she is trying to make herself appear calm. She seemed to have seen something very frightening, something that had been thrust into her heart with a knife and stirred it so hard. It was terrible, but she controlled herself, so it wasn't so bad.
But what exactly was she looking at?
Pierce thought strangely, his eyes following the girl's gaze in the direction she was looking. It's the part of the living room near the center, where a good show is going on. No, it may be strange to say it's a good show, but strictly speaking, it's more like a "moving picture" - repeating a very, very short duration over and over again. Coincidentally, it was from there that the voice that Pierce had just heard came from.
Tithe—the tithing with his hair scattered—the tithing that had been completely untied and regained his freedom—the tithing like a silent mad dog—half-kneeled and pinned someone who didn't know who it was, and slammed it into the face with one punch after another. Her movements seemed to be fast, but they seemed to be slow, as if they had been going on for a long time, and as if they had just begun. The only thing that is certain is that she didn't stop.
Pierce didn't recognize who she was fighting, he didn't recognize it at first, and he doesn't recognize it at all now. All he could think of was that it was his Buttonman, and then he was sure that the Buttonman was dead.
He definitely didn't die very happily, he was obviously beaten to death by Shilo with his fists. His face was now completely unrecognizable, a blur of flesh, half of his skull had been shattered into pieces, and a large map of the floor could be seen as cloudy brains and blood could be seen. But even so, this rabid woman didn't have the slightest intention of stopping, and she kept throwing her fists.
The corners of his mouth grinned, and Pierce laughed "sneering". He now understood why the girl was so funny, and he remembered who the tithing was, and he realized that he might be the next to follow in his footsteps.
But just then, things changed—as if things were always like this in the world, and things always changed some damn times—and a voice came in from outside the window.
"Hey! Are you done? Pull me up! ”
“……”
Pierce raised an eyebrow, and Susan, the girl on the other side, turned her head sharply to look in the direction of the window. Shiyi Luo stopped, half of her face was covered in small beads of blood, and the fist of her right hand was already soaked with viscous blood. But it didn't affect her at all.
She stood up, gave Pierce a nonchalant look, then turned and walked through the drawing-room, walked to the window, reached out with one hand, and then pulled something into the room and fell to the floor.
That's Ed. He was still in a state of binding, his brows furrowed together, gritting his teeth and panting, looking a little angry. He looked tired.
Tia walked up to him and used brute force to break the ropes that bound his hands and feet. Ed finally got back to his feet, gasping for breath and patting the dust and wrinkles off his clothes. Then he saw Pierce looking at him.
"What's the problem?" He asked.
"You just ...... Hanging outside all the time on the windowsill? Pierce's jaw was crooked as he saw a chef in a clown costume fishing by the pool.
"Otherwise, you think I've been flying out there for so long?"
"You jumped off the building just to give Shilo a chance to fight back?"
"You can be a diver if I want to, and it's okay to practice in advance."
"How do you know she's going to cooperate."
"I don't know." Ed glanced at Shilo, "I'm just gambling." ”
"You're a madman." Pierce lamented, "Crazier than this mad dog." ”
"Man is always crazier than a dog, good brother." "People are always crazier than dogs...... That's why the human species has come to this day. As long as the situation requires it, human beings can do anything. ”
“…… That seems to be the case. Pierce nodded decadently and rolled his eyes helplessly, "So what now, what do you want to do with me?" ”
"Good question." Ed regained his form, glanced at Shijlo next to him, glanced at Susan in passing, and then turned his head to Pierce, looking down at him, "If it were someone else, in this case I would give him to my friend in the city bureau." But if it's you, A.R.X, I think you might have a way to get you out. Am I right? ”
"I feel like it's useless for me to say something wrong."
"It's nice to save us all a little time." "So I felt the need to think about option two...... You know what I like most about you brutes, Mr. Pierce? ”
“……”
"At certain times, you don't have to be treated as 'people'." Ed put his hands behind his back and turned to face Shilo, "He's yours, whatever you want." I'm not going to meddle in the whole thing anymore, but I'm going to take Susan with me. ”
Now that we know that A.R.X is responsible for all of this, there is no need to continue the investigation. He didn't think that he could do anything to the imperial power of the underground world, it was completely meaningless, even the police headquarters couldn't achieve any effective blow to A.R.X through this matter, they could easily find a way to get out.
But Susan couldn't just leave it alone. A.R.X's goal is to control Tithes through Susan, and even if this foolish plan fails, as long as Susan is alive, they will definitely make trouble with her again. She had to disappear, and the person who helped her disappear certainly couldn't be tithe. Killers are only a way to make people disappear, but needless to say, they certainly can't be used on Susan.
“…… What are you going to do. Shiro looked at Ed and paused before speaking, "How can I believe you can do it?" ”
"I can't do it," Ed said, "but I know one person can do it." I can ask him to arrange it for a while. ”
"Who?"
"Albert." Ed looked at Tiro, "You should know about him." He told me that he had dealt with you a few times. ”
"I know him." Shilo said briefly, looking at Ed with silver-black pupils, his gaze changed slightly, "But I didn't know you had an intersection with him...... Can you ask him to help you? ”
"I'm too lazy to explain. You can choose to trust me, or fuck off. Ed's tone froze.
“…… I can give her to you. Tiji was silent for a moment, then said, "But I'll have to know the details later." This is the condition. ”
"I accept."
Ed nodded. Then they all looked at Pierce. Pierce was laughing, smiling at the two men in front of him. For some reason, he smiled both happily and weirdly.
The next moment, a gunshot rang out.
