196 - Oschats

Fifteen kilometres from Windhoek, Namibia's capital, in the south-western corner, there is a village far from the hustle and bustle closer to the pristine state.

It has a very beautiful name - the village of Begeland.

It is a village of singing and dancing.

Five kilometres west of the village of Begland is the Begland River, the mother river that feeds several nearby villages.

Every morning, many teenagers get up early and go to the river to fetch water on foot with clay pots on their backs.

Because in the local culture, the river water in the early morning is like morning dew, and the river water is the cleanest and sweetest at that time.

And among the countless people who fetched water, Oschatz was one of them.

Oschats's original name was Umuwillien Enyer, Twain, Uwenmuben Oschats, but for convenience, the people in the village would call him Oschatz directly.

Every morning, before the sun rises, Oschatz would carry a crockpot to the river five kilometers away to fetch water, and each time before fetching water, Oschats's mother would carefully stuff two pieces of pancake in his pocket as a snack on the way.

This pancake was carefully selected by Mother Oschatz to select the finest deep soil.

The soil is disinfected by fire and then sifted through a sieve to remove most of the impurities, resulting in a fine, dense loose soil.

Finally, the mud is mixed with water to make a slurry, which is then mixed with butter and salt to form a round cake and exposed to the sun.

When it dries, it is ready to be used as a snack.

Of course, this fragrant pancake can only be used as a snack, and if you eat too much, your stomach will swell and your body will become weaker and weaker.

On the east side of the village, however, there is a vast and dense forest, and the villagers of Begelan go to the nearby woods to pick wild fruits when they are hungry, and to drink water from the river when they are thirsty.

In the evening, when his stomach began to growl, Oschatz would call his childhood playmate Ido, and the two would go to the woods to cook meat together.

In the woods that nurtured the village, Oshas and Ido developed a knack for distinguishing between wild fruits and fungi, and occasionally catching a few rats or bats to open meat.

The whole village of Begeland lives happily in such an environment where there is no conflict with the world.

However, just a few days ago, Oschatz suddenly heard from his playmate that a villager who had returned from Windhoek had suddenly fallen ill on the night of his return, vomiting incessantly and unable to eat even food.

However, Oschatz did not care about this, after all, as a Namibian, Oschatz knew early on that many people in the village were destined to live short, and the infected man was one of them.

However, the real nightmare came without warning......

In the evening, Oschatz rested all day, and did not go to the east end of the village until the sun was about to set, where Ido would meet him every day, and the two of them went together into the woods in search of food.

However, when Oschatz arrived at the eastern end of the village, he did not see Id.

"Hey, this kid is late?"

Oschatz was a little surprised, the other party was younger than himself, it was when he was growing up, and every time he went to the woods to open meat, he had to be more active than himself, and it was rare for him to be late like this.

Oschatz didn't care, but sat slowly at the head of the village, silently waiting.

But until the sun had set, and the sky had changed from azure to indigo, he didn't wait for Ido.

"What the hell is this guy doing?"

Oschats was a little annoyed, and when it was night, although he could catch mice and birds, it was difficult to find wild fruits or something, and thinking of this, he simply walked in the direction of Ido.

Ido's home was not far from the village, and soon a house made of earth appeared in front of Oschats.

The door was not closed, and Oschatz walked directly to the door, and was about to knock on the door, but he heard a violent vomiting sound from inside the room.

The sound came from the back room, and Oschatz hurried inside, only to see Ido standing in front of the bed in confusion, while his mother was lying on her side on the bed, vomiting vigorously against a basin placed in front of the bed.

"Vomit ——!"

Like a fountain, a black filth erupted from her mouth, and though most of it spat into the basin, there were still many splashes that covered the bed.

A peculiar fishy stench wafted from the direction of the bed, like the smell of blood and viscera mixed with small animals every time Oschatz dissected them.

Oschatz subconsciously covered his mouth and nose.

"Oschats, why are you here?"

At this point, Ido happened to look back at Oschath, but he seemed to be in a low mood.

"Edo, let's go to the woods......"

Oschatz asked, confused.

"You can also see that my mother is sick and I have to take care of her." Ido shook his head and rejected Osace without hesitation.

"Okay......"

Seeing this, Oshas didn't say much, and he took one last look at Ido's mother, who was still retching, squirting black-brown mucus from time to time, as if she was going to vomit her entire internal organs......

Not only that, but in Oschats's eyes, her mother's eyes had already turned bright red due to blood congestion, and she could even faintly see two dark red lines of blood flowing down her cheeks, which was very weird and terrifying......

For some reason, Oshas suddenly panicked in his heart, and he didn't have time to greet Ido, so he hurried out of the room and returned home.

Originally, Oschatz thought it was just a small episode, but when he woke up the next day, he found that the atmosphere in the whole village had become tense.

Not only Ido, but more than a dozen families in the village have similar symptoms, and the symptoms of these people are very similar to those of Ido's mother, all of whom have a high fever, and will vomit constantly, and some will have symptoms of bleeding in both eyes.

And that terrifying look was like a curse from hell.

The appearance of these illnesses immediately caused panic among the villagers, and everyone understood that it was a harbinger of the appearance of a plague.

As a result, there were no more idle villagers at the head of the village, and some simply left the village to avoid the plague and took refuge in nearby towns.

Families like Oschatz were unable to leave the village, so Oschat's mother had to keep the door closed to prevent the plague from breaking into the house through the gate.

On this day, Oschatz only went to the river at 10 a.m. to fetch the necessary water for the whole day, and when he returned, he kept his door closed.

This response is the only way Namibia's official propaganda can deal with all the plagues.

But this approach doesn't seem to work so well for the Oschatsians......

It's the third day.

When Oschatz woke up from his sleep after a night of restlessness, he heard only a groan coming from outside the room.

The moans came from the mother's room with a painful aura, and at the same time, there was a staccato retching sound.

After hearing this voice, Oschat's heart tightened, and he quickly got out of bed and walked towards his mother's room, but after only taking two steps, he felt that his muscles were very sore all over his body.

Not only that, but Oschatz's head became groggy and his headache cracked.

But Oschatz didn't bother with this, and he quickly ran to his mother's room, only to find her curled up on the bed, surrounded by a large pool of black-brown vomit.

As Oschatz entered, the mother slowly opened her eyes.

At this time, the mother's eyes were blood-red, and there was faint blood flowing down......

Seeing this scene, Oschat's heart sank, and he hurriedly ran out of the room, wanting to go to the village chief's house to ask for help.

But as soon as he walked out of the room, Oshas slammed down.

At this time, the road of the whole village, all the way, more than a dozen villagers fell in the middle of the road, and the road of the village was covered with black-brown vomit, and in just one night, the village of Begland inhibitibly deteriorated.

There was a strong stench in the air, and Oschatz finally understood that the smell of blood and internal organs was the smell of death......
