Chapter Eighty-Three: The Old Road of the Yu River
As a Chinese, you will no longer be unfamiliar with the Yellow River.
The Yellow River, with a total length of about 5,464 kilometers and a basin area of about 752,443 square kilometers, is the second longest river in China.
And the Yellow River is more flowing, which actually refers to the diversion of the Yellow River.
Diversion: When a river abandons its original course and seeks a new route due to natural or man-made factors.
Historically, the lower reaches of the Yellow River have been diverted frequently.
According to statistics, from the beginning of the fifth year of King Zhou Ding, to the five years of the Qing Dynasty Xianfeng, there were 2,457 years of diversion at the mouth of the copper tile box, a total of 26 diversions.
Generally speaking, with Mengjin as the apex, in the vast plains that reach Jingu in the north and reach Jianghuai in the south, they are all places where the Yellow River breaks and redirects and migrates.
It is precisely because of the frequent diversion of the breaches that there is a saying among the people that "two breaks in three years, and one diversion in a hundred years".
A village may have been located on the east bank of the river before, but after the recourse, it may be on the west bank, hence the proverb "thirty years to the east of the river, thirty years to the west of the river".
Therefore, the "Yellow River Flow" in this statue refers to the location of a certain diversion of the Yellow River.
I confidently stated my opinion to the crowd, and everyone nodded excitedly, and then began to hang their heads almost at the same time.
Shen Lang's temperament is the most direct, he can't hide his thoughts, and he can't help but start complaining when he looks at me.
"Brother Chuan, you yourself said that the Yellow River has been diverted so many times in the past two thousand years, we can't start looking for it one place at a time."
Ling Xuan is a down-to-earth person, after listening to my words, he turned around and went out, and when he came back, he was already holding a bunch of ancient books in his hand, and when he looked carefully, it was the record of the diversion of the Yellow River in the past thousand years.
We took a closer look to find out what the diversion was recorded in relation to the statue.
In the fifth year of King Ding of Zhou, the Yellow River underwent its first major diversion on record.
The flood took the river from Suxukou, went east to Luochuan, and then diverted from Luochuan to Changshoujin, and then merged with Zhanghe River in the north, and entered the sea in Zhangwu.
In the third year of Emperor Yuanguang of the Han Dynasty, the Yellow River broke its mouth and swung to the south again, breaking the water southeast through Juyeze, and entering the Huai River from Surabaya. Twenty-three years later, although it was blocked, it soon reverted to the south and diverted into the Tunshi River, and it returned to its original road after sixty or seventy years.
Wang Mang's new dynasty was founded three years ago, "the river broke Wei County, several counties east of the Fanqing River", because it was not blocked for a long time, the river disaster became more and more intense, and it ravaged the Bianqu and Jishui for nearly 60 years. It was not until the twelfth year of Emperor Yongping of the Ming Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty that Wang Jingfeng issued an edict to requisition hundreds of thousands of workers to rectify the river trouble, and it did not improve.
Wang Jing surveyed the topography, cut the bends and straightened them, strengthened the dangerous embankments, and dredged the silted river sections. Since then, the overflow of the Yellow River has gradually decreased, and it has entered the period of safe flow, and the phenomenon of breaking has been greatly improved, and this diversion is also a time with remarkable results, and there has been no record of diversion for more than 800 years.
……
Further down the record is to the Southern Song Dynasty, Ling Xuan did not read it, but looked at me thoughtfully and spoke seriously.
"Han Chuan, since you said that the location of this statue is related to the diversion of the Yellow River, and at the same time, this statue is inseparable from Chen Qingzhi, Chen Qingzhi is a member of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, so the record of the diversion of the Yellow River after him can not be considered, we just need to look forward."
The experience I saw in my dream from a thousand years ago has not yet had time to tell everyone, so they don't know the root cause of this Chen Qing's Northern Expedition now, and it is actually a thousand-year entanglement of weak mountains and rivers, but Ling Xuan's thinking is very clear, and his statement is not wrong at all.
So, we're looking for one of these places.
Chunting was not very satisfied, he thought about it and instructed Xue Nan to check it carefully.
"Xue Nan, when did the earliest record of the diversion of the Yellow River originate?"
Xue Nan heard this, buried his head in the record on the table, checked it carefully, and finally found the original record.
"Chunting, the earliest record should be from "Shangshu Yugong"."
It is generally believed that the river recorded in the "Shangshu Yugong" written in the Warring States period is the earliest written record of the Yellow River.
The book of Yu Gong believes that it "guides the river and accumulates stones, as for Longmen, south as Huayin, east as Zhuzhu, east as Mengjin, east as Luoxi, as for Daling; precipitation in the north, as far as the continent; It is also sown in the north as nine rivers, and the same is against the river and enters the sea."
To describe it with today's place name: from Jishi Mountain to guide the river, zigzag to the Longmen at the junction of mountains and Shaanxi, south to the north of Huashan, and then eastward through the bend of the Luohe River, to reach the Daling Mountain near Jun County, to the north into the mainland, and to the north into a number of tributaries, and then into the Bohai Sea.
Qi Zhi pointed to the other side at this time and asked curiously.
"Doesn't that count?"
We saw that it was another account.
It is rumored that during the period of the Three Emperors and Five Emperors, the Yellow River flooded, and the father and son of Kun and Yu were ordered by the two emperors of Yao and Shun, and appointed Chongbo and Xia Bo to be responsible for controlling the water.
"The Classic of Mountains and Seas, the West of the Sea" once recorded that "the river water goes out of the northeast corner, in order to travel to its north, and the southwest enters the Bohai Sea, and then goes overseas, that is, the west and the north, into the stone mountain led by Yu." ”
It turns out that Qi Zhi refers to the legendary Dayu to control the water.
If calculated according to time, Dayu's flood control is undoubtedly the initial record of the diversion of the Yellow River, but we can't tell how much truth there is.
Shen Lang smiled heartlessly, looking at me and speaking amazingly.
"Brother Chuan may be the reincarnation of Guiguzi, so what is there to doubt about Dayu's control of the water?"
The words are not rough, since the inheritance of Guanshan began with Nuwa mending the sky, presumably there must be a real basis for Dayu's water control at the same time.
With that in mind, we continue to look down.
In the pre-Qin period, due to the lack of guard, the lower reaches of the ancient Yellow River migrated freely between the fertile plains and fields, and then formed a number of river channels, that is, "the north is sown as nine rivers".
The Classic of Mountains and Seas and the Book of Mountains and the Book of Yugong are the earliest ancient documents that record the ancient course of the Yellow River, and the rivers recorded are called the "Book of Mountains" and the "Yugong" River respectively.
The two diverged in the vicinity of Shenzhou City, Hengshui City, and the Yugong River turned to the east and entered the sea after passing through Qingxian County, Cangzhou City. The "Shanjing" river should be the northernmost branch of the "North Broadcast as Nine Rivers", which enters the sea in the south of today's Tianjin City.
And Yu to govern the Yellow River is the northern line, this line is also called "Yugong Yellow River" or "Yu River Ancient Road".
In the years that followed, this route was regarded as a classic by countless river officials, and it was considered that the return of the Yellow River to this route was the least harmful.
The old road of the Yu River is the first positioning of the Yellow River on the map of ancient China.
Chunting seemed to have finally gotten the news he wanted, and he did not hesitate, pointing to the record of the old road of the Yu River, and his tone was full of affirmation.
"The place we are looking for is on the old road of the Yu River."
I was very curious, just now I had a special identity, personally experienced the protracted Northern Expedition of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and at the same time personally understood the secret entanglement between Guanshan and Weak Water in that era, but even I don't know where this statue is hidden, and how did Chunting know?
Xue Nan couldn't hold back his curiosity, and asked before me.
"Chunting, why are you so sure that this Yuhe Old Road is the place we are looking for?"
When Chun Ting heard this, his demeanor was respectful, but this respect was not for anyone present.
I saw him get up with his sleeves up, face the northwest and bow deeply, and then speak, and what he said shocked the four people.
"Because this Book of Mountains and Seas was originally written by the chief!"
