Chapter 1 Spores

Who am I?

Where is this?

The moment this organism subconsciously perceives the 'self', these two questions arise.

The surroundings, darkness is the theme, absolute darkness, without a trace of light.

The living being can feel that it is being carried by certain forces and is constantly moving, up or down, forward or backward, left or right, sometimes making a sharp turn, or being thrown in a direction that does not know where it will go, without any regularity.

Where am I going?

Such questions still arise in the subconscious of living beings.

In this absolutely dark world, life forms are not the only existence, and there are many things in the absolute darkness around them.

In this world without light, living beings cannot understand the concept of 'seeing', but this does not prevent living beings from recognizing the existence of objects in the dark.

Under the surging power, the things in the darkness often collide with the living form, and then separate under the coercion of the power.

The appearance of the subconscious mind does not bring any changes to the living body, it has been so muddy since its birth, and it has always been so.

Chaos and chaos, as if there is no future, as if everything in the present is all there is to this world.

This continues until the organism comes into contact with an unexpected visitor.

This contact was unlike anything else that had come before, and the unexpected visitor did not separate after the collision, but remained tightly attached to the living form, and even the ubiquitous forces failed to break them apart.

For the first time, the organism felt a 'sense of crisis', a warning signal from its subconscious, which was calling it - Run! Come on!

It is not only the subconscious mind that is exerting force, but also the pure biological instinct that is urging - your life is under threat, act quickly, if you don't act, there will be no chance!

The creature moved, this time no longer being swept around by the surging forces, but in turn using these forces to change its position, as if the schematic was trying to shake off the creature attached to it.

Unfortunately, this move is nothing but futile.

Living beings can sense the invasion of 'foreign bodies' from the outside into the 'inside'.

At this moment, the living form not only did not feel that it had lost anything, but had more of it, and some kind of shackle that had been carried seemed to be undone.

"There are no signs of a lot of reproduction... OK... It is a mild bacteriophage......"

The creature thought in horror, but other questions followed.

"What is ...... 'copy'?"

"What is a 'mild bacteriophage'?"

The organism didn't understand why it was expressing this, it was completely subconscious.

Unable to understand these questions, the living beings gave up thinking.

With the previous events, the action mode of the living form has changed somewhat, and it is no longer resigned to fate and let those forces float around, but actively rides on these flowing forces, moving forward without a purpose.

What is the purpose of this?

The organism doesn't know either, it's just doing things on instinct, instinctively thinking it's the right thing to do, and it doesn't think about why it's right.

The change of the living organism this time is not only a change in the mode of action, but also an impact on the way the organism perceives - it finds that it can see its own interior clearly, instead of being as before, in the dark, and the only way to perceive the world is the one centered on itself.

The shape of the ball, like a balloon filled with water, changes shape in the clash of forces, and the power disappears and returns to its original form.

The soft outer membrane plays a role in maintaining the internal stability of the living body, as well as maintaining the body in those conflicts of forces.

At the heart of it is a mess, like a spherical instant noodle, in the center of the living body.

That's all there is to life.

"It's ...... Cell? ”

The living form subconsciously emerged such a cognition, followed by questions and confusion.

"What is a 'cell'?"

Of course, it has no clue, it is just a single-celled organism, and it is already a biological miracle to have such a cognition.

"Stay alive ......"

The living being establishes its own goal, which is driven by the purest instinct that overrides the mind.

Under this desire, the core of the internal mess began to loosen.

The living body can see that the spiral bimolecular chains stretch into a straight one, like a ladder, and then this ladder is split into two from the middle and cleaved into two broken single chains, and the free substance between the core and the outer membrane is consciously pulled and combined with the cleaved single chain to form a new double strand.

A double-stranded helix that forms a core, and both cores are present within a single cell at the same time.

The excess core stimulates the adventitia, which begins to expand, expanding its original outer membrane volume.

I don't know how long it took for this instinctive behavior of the living form to finally reach the final step - a thin film appeared between the two cores, and a single cell completely became two individuals.

Thus, the self-replicating behavior of the single cell is completed.

At the moment of completion, a strange feeling emerged from the living form, just like the previous encounter with the phage, some shackles were opened, as if a beast trapped on the ground had grown wings and soared above the blue sky, as if a disabled patient had completed his body and was able to move autonomously—how free.

However, this did not last long.

When the living form and the clone were separated by the forces that were surging around, the strange sensation disappeared, the beast's wings were broken and fell back to the ground, and the disabled were once again missing, unable to live alone.

The lock is back on.

"What a bad ......"

The organism instinctively wears itself with this feeling, no life likes to be bound, and with the feeling of freedom after being 'unlocked', it is impossible for a contrasting organism to be satisfied with its current situation, even if in fact it has been in this environment since its birth.

It instinctively began to call out to the clone, hoping that the clone would come back and return to its previous state of 'fitting' with each other.

But this is useless, its call is only a biological current within the self, a living entity that cannot transmit information, but an isolated island, and it is impossible to call back the replicant that has been separated.

So, will life give up?

Of course not, life is free, and life always finds a way out.

The lifeform began its new endeavor.
