Chapter IX: Homicide
A gust of fragrant wind came from the side, Chang Wei glanced at it, and first saw two rosy lips, then a face that could hit eighty points, and a ravine that was neither deep nor shallow.
"Hello."
The woman had brown hair and clinked glasses with Chang Wei: "I'm Julia, Julia Shamway." Reporter from Metropolis Daily, can I interview you? β
"Interview?"
Chang Wei smiled and said, "Do I also have the potential to become a hot topic in the news?" β
"Uhh β
"Really?" Chang Wei said: "Will you become an Internet celebrity?" And then a lot of money? β
"Are you dreaming?" Linda next to her sneered: "Just you? Also Internet celebrity? β
"Why can't I become an influencer?" Chang Wei was unhappy: "I owe you more than $1,000, if you can't become an Internet celebrity, you can't pay it back, and you can't blame me if you can't pay it back." β
"You're such a bastard." Linda is angry.
Julia finally saw that Chang Wei was joking with her, and couldn't help but say, "Officer Chang, I can't guarantee whether you can become an Internet celebrity, but I hope you can accept my interview." β
"Not really." Chang Wei drank the whiskey in one gulp, stood up and said to Linda, "Let's go." β
Leaving reporters messy in the wind.
"Why didn't you give her an interview?"
In the car, Linda was curious: "Julia is undoubtedly a beauty. β
"That doesn't change the fact that she's a journalist." Chang Wei said: "Reporters are the best at fanning the flames, I say a word, she can make up a 10,000-word article for me." Linda, almost all the gangsters in town have been beaten up by me, and there are a few black people among them, what kind of article do you think she will write for me? β
Linda exclaimed, "You're thinking so far. β
"The most important thing is." Chang Wei said: "The ring on her hand, she is a married woman. β
Linda rolled her eyes wildly: "Okay, it looks like you're still a good person." β
"Of course, I never say a word to a married woman." Chang Wei said: "Only if you are as beautiful as you and not married, I will have some ideas." β
"Get out!" Linda gave Chang Wei a punch: "Be careful, Freddie hears and beats you." β
"Obviously he can't beat me." Chang Wei smiled: "Freddie and your fiancΓ©, his younger brother Tiras, the two of them can't beat me together." β
Linda was completely reluctant to talk to Chang Wei anymore.
At this time, Duke's voice came from the walkie-talkie on the shoulders of the two at the same time: "Attention all police officers, please rush to the grove north of the town, there is a shooting in the grove." Repeat, please rush to the grove to the north, where there was a shooting. β
Linda and Chang Wei glanced at each other, spun the steering wheel sharply, and quickly rushed to the north of the town.
"Shootings aren't common in Mill Town, right?"
This is the first time in the nearly a month that the abnormal Wei has arrived in Mill Town.
"There are always a few of them every year." Linda understated.
Soon, the car drove to the grove north of town, and saw Paul and Freddy pulling the cordon from a distance, and they arrived one step early.
After getting out of the car a few steps to catch up, Linda first glanced at the dead man on the ground, and then asked Paul about the situation.
"This man was shot in the heart and died." Paul said: "It may be an acquaintance who committed the crime, otherwise no one can guarantee that a shot will easily hit the heart." β
"Did you notice, this guy is a little familiar." Freddie frowned, "I think I've seen it somewhere." β
Linda squatted down and looked at it carefully, and suddenly said, "Once a gangster in the town." β
"It's an addict." Chang Wei said directly: "Look at his forearms, they are all needle eyes." β
As he spoke, Duke arrived.
When Duke saw the deceased, his brows moved slightly: "Thomson, once a gangster in town. Having moved out of Mill Town a few years ago, how did it end up here? β
"Duke," Linda said, "he's an addict. β
Duke was expressionless, and said for a long time: "Collect the body first and send it to Curkins." β
"Now?"
"Now."
Duke turned around and got into the car: "He's not from Mill Town, I'll hand the case over." β
Chang Wei watched Duke drive away and asked Linda, "Has Duke always handled cases like this?" β
Linda shook her head: "What Duke hates most is the original, and at the same time there are addicts. He believes that sucking independence and selling independence are the same raccoon dogs, and they deserve to die. β
"Didn't you say that when you handle a case, you should think about all good people first?"
"Except for them." Linda said, "Take a handle and lift this guy into the car." β
Wrapping the body and carrying it to the back seat of the police car, Freddie and Paul were left to handle the murder scene, and the two drove all the way to the church.
"Liszt Kirkins is the only priest in town and the only coroner." Linda said: "The morgue is also in the church. β
"The priest is the coroner, yes." Chang Wei commented.
After a few moments, he said, "Duke told me that he had kicked all the gogglers and junkies out of the mill town and made sure that the inhabitants of the mill town were away from the solo. But I want to know, why did this Thomson, who died in Mill Town? Shouldn't he have died in other places where there are sologoists and addicts? β
Linda was stunned: "Do you suspect these bastards are back in Mill Town?" β
"I don't think it's an accident." Chang Wei said: "After sending the body to the church, I plan to go back to the grove and take a look at the surrounding situation. β
"Together." Linda said.
Soon, the two sent the body of the addict to the church.
Father Kirkins was a tall, balding old man with a gentle expression.
"Another of God's people is reporting." He said.
"No, the people of Satan." Linda said: "Kirkins, this is an addict, you take out the autopsy report as soon as possible, and Chang and I will go back to continue the investigation." β
"Okay, be careful along the way."
On the way back, Chang Wei didn't speak for a long time before he said, "Linda, does Father Kirkins know the deceased?" β
Linda was stunned for a moment: "It should be." After all, Thomson used to be a resident of the town. β
Chang Wei nodded and did not speak.
Back at the scene of the incident, Freddie and Paul had already left. Linda leaned on the car door and looked at Chang Wei's investigation of the case, which she thought was very interesting.
"This is the first scene."
Chang Wei's words came: "The one who killed that guy must be someone he knows." It is not excluded that there are multiple perpetrators, and there must be a woman among them. β
"Woman?!"
Linda was surprised, "How do you see that?" β
"Look here."
Chang Wei squatted down and cut the leaves on the ground, revealing a small pit that was neither deep nor shallow: "This is the trace of high heels." I guess there are very few men who like to wear high heels, right? The traces are very new, and they can match the time of the deceased's death. β
When Linda saw it, her expression immediately became serious.
Chang Wei stood up and looked around for a moment: "The murderer left here, Linda, follow me." β
The two walked into the grove one after the other.
Chang Wei walked and stopped, occasionally finding some newly broken branches.
