Chapter 5: Beating People
Pushing the door in, Duke was sitting in a chair with his legs resting on his desk and a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Got the gun?"
He asked.
Chang Wei nodded and patted the holster on his waist.
Duke said, "Well, Chang, welcome to the Mill Town Police Department. β
Chang Wei grinned: "Today is officially on the job?" β
"That's right." "A police officer with a gun is the real police," Duke said. Protect your guns well. β
Chang Wei made an OK gesture.
Duke said, "Later, you and Linda will go to the warehouse to the north to have a look." Starting today, a shipment of propane will come in over the next few days. You know that propane is a dangerous gas, and it is our responsibility to ensure that it does not threaten the safety of the town's residents. Caution people nearby not to approach. β
"No problem." Chang Wei smiled: "It's all a trivial matter. β
"I know it's the little things, but the little things also need to be taken seriously." Duke waved his hand: "The day after tomorrow is the weekend, how are you preparing for the moving ladder?" β
"Don't worry, you won't be out of wine."
Duke laughed.
Coming out of the police station, Chang Wei got into Linda's police car.
Duke said there was a shipment of propane coming in the next few days. Chang Wei said: "Is there a lack of energy in Mill Town? β
Linda started the car and said, "Maybe." Propane is widespread in Mill Town. Since a few years ago, Big Jim, aka Jim Rainey, our town's councillor, has been marketing propane to residents, because using propane as an energy source is exempt from a part of the tax, so many residents will buy a little bit. β
Chang Wei was clear and said, "It should be quite affordable?" β
"Yes." Linda said: "It's a little less expensive than using natural gas from a gas company. β
"That's a good thing that Jim Rainey did." Chang Wei said.
"That's a cunning old man." Linda said.
"I don't care if he's cunning or not, let's look at things and see how it turns out. Since there are benefits, there is nothing wrong with Jim Rainey. Chang Wei said.
"Perhaps."
The two of them made their way to the warehouse on the north side of the town, where they explained to the warehouse's security guard, Boomer, a large white man, that he should warn anyone when someone approached, and then drove to the residents near the warehouse to warn them from door to door.
This is what Chang Wei is doing now.
In a town like Mill Town, the atmosphere is actually pretty good. Rarely do big things happen, it's basically trivial things like fights or cats and dogs.
When the two of them went to the last house, it was an old woman who lived there.
When the old woman heard that propane was coming in again, she couldn't help but say, "I've always wondered how much propane we're using, and I think Big Jim must have a conspiracy." Your police department should check on him. β
Linda said helplessly: "Mrs. Greennell, Mill Town has been using propane for nearly five years. β
"If you don't check him, I'll find a reporter." The old woman was a little perverse, and closed the door with a snort.
Linda shrugged her shoulders and left the old woman's house with Chang Wei, and Linda said, "You have to know that these are the worst things to mess with in Mill Townβthe elderly. β
Chang Wei said: "That's right, they are very good at touching porcelain." β
Linda understood what Chang Wei meant, and couldn't help laughing.
"What are we going to do next?" In the car, Chang Wei asked Linda, "Continue patrolling?" β
"You can patrol and watch the scenery at the same time." Linda started the car: "You can also go to the tavern for a drink when you have time." β
There was a tavern in town, and the owner of the tavern was an old woman named Rose. But compared to the previous Mrs. Green, this Mrs. Rose is much kinder.
The tavern is very lively, three or three, and most of them are old men drinking and chatting.
Chang Wei and Linda walked into the tavern, and Chang Wei saw Angel who was busy in the bar, the older sister of the neighbor's siblings, but he didn't expect her to work here.
Some time ago, Chang Wei came to the tavern once, with Duke, and he didn't see Angel at that time.
"Drink something?"
Linda leaned against the bar and asked Chang Wei.
"You're in for a treat?"
Linda said, "You haven't started getting paid yet. β
"Thank you. Just have a whiskey. Chang Wei is also welcome.
Linda said, "A glass of orange juice, a glass of whiskey." β
Anqi, who was busy, turned around and saw Chang Wei beside Linda, and said in surprise: "Meet again." β
Linda was surprised, "You know?" β
Angel handed Linda juice and said, "Often our new neighbor." β
Linda blinked and suddenly realized, "Yes, the McAllister family is also in the east of town." Ah, often, your whiskey. β
"Whiskey?"
An old man wearing a hat and drinking at the bar next to him turned his head and looked at Chang Wei: "Huangpi monkeys can also drink whiskey?" β
Chang Wei didn't say a word, reached out to hold the back of the old thing's head, and pressed his face on the bar: "Old ghost, what did you say?" β
The old man struggled for a while, but he seemed to be pressed by the mountain, and he couldn't break it at all, so he cried out inwardly: "Boy, do you want to die?" β
"I think you want to die." Chang Wei used his strength and turned the old man's face over: "I can sue you for racial discrimination, old ghost, I don't want to mess with me." β
"Why are you still stunned!" The old man scratched his hands wildly, but the more he scratched, the harder Chang Wei pressed, and he couldn't help screaming: "Guys, pull him away, pull this yellow... Brat! β
A few old men next to him saw that Chang Wei was not easy to mess with, and they were in a dilemma for a while.
Fortunately, the boss Rose happened to come out, and when he saw this, he hurriedly said: "Young man, old Ollie's mouth is not clean, don't take it to heart, don't worry about him." β
Linda also reacted and hurriedly came to pull Chang Wei.
Chang Wei snorted and said, "What's his name?" β
"Ollie."
"Ollie, huh?" Chang Wei looked at the old man: "Let me hear you scold me in the future, and I will make you look good." I'm not very good-tempered. β
After saying that, he let go of his hand, and then as if nothing had happened, he took the wine glass from the stunned Anqi and drank it down.
Old Ollie was frightened, his face was crimson, he lost face and was afraid of Chang Wei, so he didn't dare to stay here for a long time, and walked away.
"Cool!"
Angel couldn't help but exclaim, "No wonder Joe said you're very cool, really cool!" β
Chang Wei grinned: "I'm a very good person. β
Linda next to him slapped him: "Very good people bully old people, right?" β
"His mouth stinks, you should go for me." Chang Wei said: "What did he scold me? Huangpi monkeys? β
Linda was speechless.
"I like you!"
Angel at the bar said, "I hate that old man Ollie, too. β
Rose screwed Angel: "Shut up, what about working hours." β
Angel stuck out her tongue.
Rose said to Chang Wei: "Young man, I can see that you have a very straight temper. I think you're a good fit to be a police officer. β
"Thank you." Chang Wei thanked him with a smile.
