Chapter Eighty-Five: The Second Battle: Water Attack

Just as the guards had just retreated into the wide queen ant's dormitory, they saw a large number of paving ants pouring out of five of the six entrances and exits of the queen's dormitory, quickly surrounding the small team in the center of the nest. Maybe in the next second, the protagonist and the escort team will be overwhelmed by the ant tide.

The protagonist is full of despair, and now maybe only a miracle can save him!

Mulan and the others tightly surrounded the protagonist and buried the protagonist in the innermost with their bodies. If these loyal guards want to kill their Divine Envoy King, they must at least step over their bodies.

In the next second, the tide of paving ants pounced fiercely and exchanged hands with the big-headed ant soldier ant guards, almost all of whom were besieged by three or four paving ant worker ants. These soldiers were stumbling and exhausted, not only unable to kill or injure the enemy, but also unable to ensure their own safety, and soon their bodies were colored. According to this posture, in another six or seven seconds, the protagonist's escort should be completely wiped out.

Then, a miracle happened.

At the entrance of the cave where the protagonist came, there was a sudden burst of violent and rapid footsteps, and then countless soldiers and workers of the Divine Envoy King Legion rushed out of the hole. As soon as they appeared in the nest, they automatically formed a formation of worker ants in front of the soldiers and ants behind, and quickly cleared half of the paving ant worker ants in the nest with field tactics.

Even though the paving ants who were attacked by the raid had lost their minds due to the rage, they also sensed the great threat of the raiding force, and they didn't care about killing the protagonist and his escort with more force, but instead turned on these big-headed ants who dared to attack under the drive of fanatical will to fight.

Mulan fled back to the Divine Envoy King's legion with a limping protagonist, and only seven of the fourteen soldiers retreated......

The protagonist has basically achieved his tactical goal of eliminating seventy percent of the enemy queens, and now it doesn't make much sense to continue to fight and see-saw underground, and he orders a retreat. Some of the Legionnaires cover the protagonist's retreat, and the front-line fighters launch a more rapid attack, killing or forcing the enemy back into the narrow tunnels before retreating.

The protagonist who escaped death went all the way down the drain, but when he was about to leave the drain, he suddenly stopped, and with what little strength he had left, he laboriously dug out a large stone from the soil layer of the pipe wall of the drain, and threw it down to plug the drain below. After doing this, he withdrew to the ground with the legions.

Back on the ground, the protagonist sends the messengers out and passes the pre-prepared command packs to the various legions on the front. Then he was carried into the base nest and groaned on the exclusive silk bed...... Uh, silent moaning.

After getting out of danger completely, the protagonist felt that the pain all over his body was unbearable, all the muscles seemed to burst or dissolve, sore, painful, swollen and soft, this uncomfortable energy made the protagonist keep hitting his head on the ground, and Mulan next to him was stunned.

Regardless of the protagonist's tragic situation for the time being, the camera returns to the ground.

After receiving the order of the gentleman king, all the legions evacuated underground in an orderly manner, and only invested a small number of troops at the entrance of the dug tunnel to compete with the paving ant barbarian army, so as not to give the other party a chance to repair the gap in the upper nest. The Paving Ant Barbarian Army, on the other hand, was bent on recapturing these gaps, and had no thought at all that they could retreat and seal off the encroached area. This also left a hidden danger for their subsequent demise.

The protagonist lay on the silk bed for two days and one night, without getting out of bed after eating and drinking, before he was relieved. During this period, what he was obsessed with was the weather, and he would send Mulan to look at the sky every hour. In fact, this is a useless exercise, and the protagonist can now roughly predict the weather with his own body reaction, but it has not rained and made the protagonist anxious, so he keeps urging Mulan to see the changes in the sky and clouds.

In the past two days, all the legions have withdrawn to rest, and a batch of food has been brought from the grain city to supplement the consumption, so that these legionnaires who have been physically exhausted can be fed. Skirmishes around the tunnel openings continued, but due to the small size of the battlefield and the low casualty rate, the paver ants were never able to recapture and repair most of the gaps.

It wasn't until the early morning of the third day that the weather that the protagonist was looking forward to was finally coming.

In the early morning, the appearance of the sun did not bring warmth and light to the earth, and the thick clouds gradually gathered and thickened from the evening, and a heavy rain was seen coming.

The ants had a premonition that heavy rain was coming, but at the protagonist's repeated requests, the team fighting for the tunnel entrance with the Paving Ant Barbarian Army did not withdraw from their positions until sporadic raindrops fell. The paving ants had a premonition that something was wrong and desperately wanted to repair the burrow, but the entire hundred or so breaches could not be plugged in a moment.

As the rain intensified, the Big-headed Ant Expeditionary Force took refuge in the base nest, which was warm and dry, and at the request of the protagonist, a complete drainage facility was built at the beginning of the excavation: in addition to several underground drainage channels, there were also open channels dug in the ground to direct the water to low-lying areas.

The protagonist arrives at the entrance of the base nest of the Divine Envoy King's army, which is originally on high ground, and before it rains, the protagonist designs and builds a simple rain shelter composed of leaves, branches, and grass stem fibers, so that he can overlook the side nest occupied by the paving ant barbarians without being affected by the wind and rain. He wanted to see for himself the effect of his final move.

The rain is getting more and more urgent, the rain is like a splash falling from the sky at a rapid speed, the ground began to appear a large pool of water, the dozens of tunnels dug by the auxiliary nest have become the vent of the surface water, a large amount of water poured into the auxiliary nest, and all the paving ants and building materials that worked hard to repair the gap were washed away. These paver ants had never experienced floods of this magnitude, and their previous experience with water seepage from their nests was completely useless, and they simply could not stop floods from dozens of intakes. They can only do their best to move the water-soaked grain, eggs, larvae and pupae to a relatively dry place.

And that's not all, the bigger threat comes from the bottom of the paranest. Guided by the criss-crossing nullahs that the protagonist had previously directed to excavate, the water on the ground flows through the ten largest tunnels into the bottom of the secondary nest. Some paving ants at the bottom of the secondary nest are still struggling to rescue at the beginning, and the water potential in the remote places at the bottom has not attracted the attention of the paver ant kings in the upper position.

However, under the replenishment of the continuous flow of water on the ground, the water level at the bottom rose rapidly, and several paving ant kings who commanded the disaster relief at the bottom suddenly found in despair that they were forced to a dead end by the rising water level, and they were submerged little by little. The rapidly rising water level has submerged most of the ants without even knowing it, and even the escape route has sunk underwater, completely cutting off the vitality of the ants who do not know the nature of water.

The rain crackles the canopy made of leaves, and the lookout can be destroyed by wind and rain at any time. The protagonist had to retreat to the underground of the base nest, although he couldn't see the water inside the secondary nest, but he saw the scene of a large amount of rain rushing into the secondary nest, and he knew that the secondary nest was finished.

The heavy rain seems to be helping the protagonist, and it has been raining for a day and a night, even if the rain is a little gentle, it will soon become stormy. Even the base nest, which was specifically considered for rain protection, suffered from water seepage, but it did not pose much of a threat after active and effective rescue.

It wasn't until noon the next day that the sun completely dispelled the dark clouds, and the big-headed ant expeditionary force set out again. Most of the area near the sub-nest has become muddy Ze country, and this time most of the legions did not move, only ten legions lined up in columns, carefully approaching the entrance and exit of the sub-nest step by step along the relatively dry land between the watersawa.

As for the tunnels that were dug at the beginning, they have all been turned into deep holes filled with water.

At the entrance, there were still a small number of muddy paving ants struggling to resist, but they were quickly wiped out by the Big-headed Ant Expeditionary Force. The various teams disperse to explore the tunnels inside the secondary nest, and soon return the information back to the protagonist.

Since there was still a lot of stagnant water in all the paths, the teams had to retreat, and the scouts reported that the water in the secondary nest was covered with the corpses of paver ants, both king ants and worker ants, and they were extremely equal in the face of death caused by the flood.

Unable to explore the waterlogged area, the protagonist has to pause his exploration, but the flooding in the secondary nest is so severe that not many enemies will survive.

Every hour or two, the protagonist sends several squads down to explore the interior of the secondary nest. As time went on, the water level of the secondary nest gradually decreased, revealing more and more paver ant carcasses, many of which were clustered together in hundreds and filled the interior of the nest on higher ground, and they were finally wiped out as they escaped the rising floodwaters. There were also a few lucky paver ants who hid in areas that were not flooded due to air pressure or terrain, but their numbers and physical strength were not enough to resist the recuperated big-headed ant warriors, and they were quickly exterminated.

It wasn't until the next day that all the stagnant water in all parts of the secondary nest was drained, and the army of big-headed ants searched all the passages and executed all the paving ants that were lucky not to die. The protagonist does not stop this behavior, he once wanted to communicate with an injured and unable to resist the paving ant king, but the other party only passed on endless hatred, and the protagonist had to kill him to prevent future trouble.

But for some reason, the protagonist asks the Legion of the Divine Envoy to collect a batch of ant eggs that have not been soaked in water, and bring them back to the base nest of the Legion of the Divine Envoy King.

At this point, the last sub-nest captured by the Paving Ant Barbarian Army in the last winter, the military fortress with 100,000 troops and ten ant queens stationed, was conquered after less than ten days of resistance, and the Paving Ant Barbarian Army more than 100,000 ants were all wiped out, and the Big-headed Ant Expeditionary Force only paid a slight price of thousands of casualties, which can be described as a great victory.
