Chapter 31: The Bounty
"Damn."
Oreo muttered as he quickly backed away, then pointed his staff at the dark vent.
He met the eyes for a moment, then raised his staff.
"Stay there and don't move, or I'll shoot."
The eyes vanished suddenly, replaced by two rough hands, and he quickly lifted the iron fence at the vent.
Oreo was about to warn again, but the man suddenly said.
"How do you know this place."
“......”
Oreo put down his cane and said in confusion.
"Rhea? How are you here. ”
Rhodia stepped out of the shadows, covered in dust.
Instead of answering Oreo's question, he asked rhetorically.
"Did you find anything, all afternoon?"
Oreo said after gesturing for Rhodia to put the iron fence back.
"There are discoveries, but there is no meaning, after all, it is your own people who committed the crime, and everyone in the palace is suspicious."
Rhodia nodded, reaching for her waist.
"There are very few people who know about the architectural design drawings, and if it was really my own people, I believe there are only a few people who suspect it, but I have found something else."
Oreo pointed to the palm of Redia's hand.
"What's that?"
Lydia spread out her right hand, and a military badge the size of an ordinary man's palm was lying in the palm of his hand.
Oreo quickly recognized the pattern on the badge, which was the Imperial rank of East Ikra, and he looked up at Rhaea.
"General of the East Ikra Empire...... Reydia, you lost a dragon's eye, why didn't you tell me about it earlier? ”
"Dragon's Eye?"
Rhodia was stunned, "How do you know?" ”
Oreo waved his hand.
"Inferior hypnotism, besides, the whole palace knows about it...... Then again, you handed over that thing to the Empire, how many people know about it? ”
Rhodia nodded, and he stammered.
"You know, I was going to make a big deal at the time, and almost everyone knew that I gave it to His Majesty Bedford, and I was commended for it......"
"So everybody knows it's stored underground, right?"
Oreo stared straight at the vent, "And the East Ikras, too." ”
Rhodia nodded.
"That's right."
Oreo buttoned his top hat over his head, and he didn't seem to mean to continue the small talk with Redia.
"It seems that what I just broke is not necessarily wrong, so put your hope on the border guards, I hope they can find that dragon's eye."
Redia shouted under her breath.
"Why are you going?"
Oreo was gone, his shadow waving in the setting sun.
"Go home."
Apparently something was wrong, but he didn't say anything, turned and fled into the woods.
......
Walking out of the palace, Oreo wrapped himself in a trench coat and walked down the street with hurried steps.
From time to time, he looked back like a burglar fleeing the scene in a hurry.
It wasn't until he was near Tenth Street that he breathed a sigh of relief.
Ripping off his top hat, he muttered as he wiped his sweat from the beads.
"There are really all kinds of strange things in the palace, a group of thieves shouting to catch the thieves...... Damn Caron! ”
Walking to the door of the office, Oreo was about to take out the key, but found that the lock had been opened.
"Won't it?"
Before he could pull the door open, Oreo heard Angelyl's singing.
She wore an apron and held a spatula in her hand, looking like a leisurely cook.
“......”
What the hell is Peggy up to?
Oreo was already in turmoil, but he remained silent on the surface.
"Angelyl."
"Huh?"
Hearing the noise, Angelil answered, then turned her head.
"Mr. Oreo, you're back, are you going to the palace in the afternoon?"
"Yes."
Oreo nodded, and quickly sat back in his chair.
He pretended to spread out his notebook, but his eyes were catching eye on Angelyl, who was concentrating on their dinner, the light of the fire flickering on her face.
In all fairness, this scene is indeed very heartwarming.
But Oreo is well aware that this temperature is only temporary.
Because Angelil is destined to become the Black Queen, and the Black Queen will never cook for him.
But now, even Peggy has acquiesced to this, and she has no excuse to refuse.
Oreo sighed and picked up the quill from the pen holder.
Sure enough, the ink was full, and even the nib was new.
Oreo shook his head with a wry smile and quickly wrote in his notes.
"In 226, on November 29, the palace treasury was stolen.
The previous inferences were not comprehensive, but from the moment they met Rhea, the truth seemed to be clear.
Moshenl's Addiction - The oddly shaped dragon spear, its power is rooted in the dragon's eye, and the thieves only stole the dragon's eye, and the East Ikra would never make such a mistake.
Besides, the badge was a few years old, and I highly suspected that it was a lame clue stolen from a museum by someone to disrupt the audio-visual.
But why did Redia enter the treasury again? It stands to reason that he should have succeeded, wasn't he the one who stole the dragon's eye?
No, it shouldn't.
It is estimated that Russell's old thing is also dying, and at this critical juncture, it is impossible for Rhodia not to strike first...... And why did he enter the dungeon again, and during the day? ”
The reasoning is at an impasse.
Oreo put down his quill and stared at the clues in his notes, his mind blank.
He and Rhaedia were good friends, but he would never question Raidia to his face, and Raidia would not tell him the truth.
As his gaze focused again, an ignorant face suddenly appeared not far away.
Angelyl smiled sheepishly.
"Mr. Oreo, it's been a long time since I've seen you so anxious, it seems to be a big case."
Oreo shook his head repeatedly, "It's a big case, but it's not my part. ”
"That's right."
Angelyl gave a thoughtful expression, but she didn't ask, turning and walking to the table.
Apparently supper, Oreo stretched and hurried over.
Before he could reach the table, he suddenly saw Angelyl nervous, she picked something up from the table, and quickly stuffed it into her pocket.
Although she couldn't bear to expose her little actions, judging from her anxious expression, she seemed to be waiting for herself to expose her.
“......”
Oreo paused, vaguely knowing what it was.
"Angelyl, that's the bounty, right?"
"No, no, no."
Angelyl shook her head like a rattle.
Oreo held out his hand in confusion.
"That'...... Show me? ”
“...... Good. ”
Angelyl answered, and she scrambled to pull out the mass of newspaper, flatten it, and handed it to Oreo.
"It's about the second round of competition."
"Then why are you so nervous,"
Oreo glanced at the newspaper suspiciously, the front page was indeed the silhouette of "Angelelle" playing the piano, but the other page was not as he expected-
"Bounty: Dragon.
Those who provide valid clues will be rewarded with 5,000 gold coins.
Anyone who captures the dragon clan and reports it to the palace will be rewarded with 50,000 gold coins. ”
