Chapter Forty-Nine: A Day's Time
The next morning, after a long time in the office, Oreo finally went out.
Reka yawned at the sight of Oreo, who was disheveled and seemed to have slept in the carriage all night.
"Where are you going, Lord Pravor?"
Glancing at Reka's men, Oreo greeted him with a fake smile.
"Sergeant Reka, today I want to apply to go to the scene of the crime, and by the way, I would like to ask you to explain the case to me."
Reka touched the handle.
"It's okay to explain the case, but if I want to go to the scene of the crime, I'll have to apply to Director Eden...... I guess that should be fine. ”
"yes, okay."
Oreo walked straight into the carriage, not intending to be too polite to Reka, but disguised a faint hostility.
Reka sat down across from Oreo, and he commanded his men.
"Then let's go, let's go to the City Patrol Bureau first."
I don't know if it's because the horses haven't rested well, the road is very bumpy, and the journey is very torturous.
After a while, the carriage finally stopped, and Reka told his men that he was optimistic about Oreo, and then ran into the City Patrol as fast as he could.
Surveying his back, Oreo frowned.
Eden's reputation in Turin has always been bad, and the old fox would never do anything that was not in his own interests.
In this case, Eden wanted to make a scapegoat, but Oreo always felt uneasy.
Because the way Eden looked at him yesterday was very wrong, and that look was not innocent.
As he thought about it, he saw Reka run out of the City Patrol, and he jumped into the carriage panting, waving his hand repeatedly.
"Let's go, let's go to Snow Mountain!"
......
Everyone knew that Oreo couldn't find anything on his trip, but he just spent the whole day in the house.
As the sun set, Oreo walked out of the manor with tired steps, and the two police officers followed him all the time.
Seeing Reka, he raised his eyebrows slightly.
"Sheriff Reka, I've made a very important discovery."
Reka motioned for his men to drive the carriage back to the City Patrol Bureau, then closed the curtain of the carriage and said in a loud voice.
"What discovery?"
Oreo's voice was heard in the carriage.
"A discovery important for the Empire."
Seeing what Oreo was in his hand, Reka said in shock.
"It's ...... This is Duke Pamela's stuff? ”
"That's right, I found it in the crack of the stairs."
Oreo nodded, "If I can, I'd like to talk to Director Eden personally." ”
Reka glanced at the carriage curtain, the two officers were not ordinary people, they must have been outside with their ears pricked up to eavesdrop on the conversation.
He took a deep breath, hesitated for a long time, and said slowly.
"Your Excellency Plavor, in a way, this thing is indeed extraordinary, but it can't clear your suspicions."
Oreo muttered.
"But it's vital to me, and I'm going to need Chief Eden's help for the next thing, you know, it's about my life, and I'm going to ask Sheriff Reka to help me report it."
Taking another breath, Reka said categorically.
"Okay."
The two were silent for a moment, both looking out the window.
As the carriage drove through the streets, Oreo soon saw the iconic boulevard in front of the City Patrol Bureau, and this time the carriage drove directly into the backyard of the City Patrol Bureau.
While Reka was on his way up to make a report, Oreo stepped out of the carriage and did stretching exercises in the yard.
The two officers had been busy all day, and they didn't have time to look at Oreo all the time, when one was leaning against the door and pretending to sleep, while the other was driving the horse back to the stable.
Oreo stood not far away, watching him talk to the groom for a moment, then staring boredly at the staircase.
To be honest, the day was really boring, so boring that he felt that he had to get something out of it in order to relieve the hatred in his heart.
It seemed that Reka and Chief Eden had been talking for a long time, and it was so long that one of the officers was about to fall asleep before Reka poked his head out of the second floor.
"Lord Pravor, you can come up."
Oreo answered, and this time the two officers didn't follow him.
Walking up to the second floor of the City Patrol Bureau, there is a large office on the right side of the stairs, and the left side is separated separately, with the words Director's Office written on the door.
Reka stood by the door and motioned for Oreo to enter.
When the two of them were at odds, Reka whispered.
"Something is wrong."
Knowing what he meant, Oreo quietly walked into the director's room.
After him, Reka gently closed the door, and it seemed that it was a one-man conversation.
Eden's enthusiastic voice could be heard from inside the door.
"Your Excellency Plavor, Reka said you would bring good news, and he was right."
"It's just news, it's far from good, and I'm not that familiar with Sheriff Reka."
Oreo narrowed his eyes and stared at Eden from afar.
Unlike yesterday, today he is wearing a cotton robe, looking cute and cute, but this way he is even more vigilant.
Eden smiled and closed the half-open window, and the room was suddenly much warmer.
"Your Excellency Plavor, you have been in Turin for so many years, you have a high reputation in the back third street, and most of the princes and nobles are also familiar with you, I believe that you have no reason to do such a ridiculous thing."
Since the meeting, Eden has mentioned his identity in Back Third Street twice, and he seems to have done a lot of research on himself.
Oreo dusted off the hem of his coat and sat down.
"Director Eden, then I'll be blunt, I've heard a lot of rumors from Sergeant Reka's mouth, and some people suspect that it was done by enemy spies, which coincides with my thoughts."
As he spoke, he observed Eden's expression, but the old fox would not show the slightest hint of hindsight.
As if unaware, Eden said in shock.
"Enemy spies? They actually infiltrated the side of the Imperial Duke? ”
Oreo didn't answer his question head-on.
"If we make this assumption, then it is obvious that the people who want to move the problem away from this direction...... are all suspicious. ”
This explicit sentence should not have appeared in the light at all, Eden, of course, pretended not to hear, and he said immediately.
"Your Excellency Plavor, if you have any high opinions on this matter, I will let Reka fully cooperate with you."
"The best."
Oreo nodded, he saw Eden pouring tea, which was really an afterthought.
Though he was not happy, Oreo took the cup of tea anyway.
"Director Eden, I have a plan, but some of it needs the cooperation of the City Patrol."
Eden nodded repeatedly.
"But it doesn't hurt to say it."
Oreo held out a finger.
"Director Eden, I need a day."
