Chapter Twenty-Eight: Something from Ejina
Walking on the familiar streets of my hometown in southern Anhui, I felt relaxed physically and mentally. It's probably the first time I've really felt this light-hearted after all that's happened.
Earlier, I went back to my room, put away my backpack and luggage, and went straight to my uncle's bungalow.
Now, a few steps further on, the bungalow area, I picked up a little and walked around the corner.
It's strange that no matter what happens on weekdays, Uncle will put a guy standing guard at the only main intersection in the bungalow area. Why is no one missing this time?
I was a little strange, standing there and looking around, there was indeed no one around. Moreover, not only at the entrance, but not even a guy inside the entrance.
This bungalow area is surprisingly quiet today!
Could it be that the uncle took them to work? I guessed at random, but I thought it was unlikely. Because no matter what kind of work it is, Uncle will leave an adult man here to standby.
It's the first time I've seen someone go out to work like this.
Thinking about it, I had already walked to the house where my uncle lived. Sure enough, the door was closed, but I went up and knocked on it.
As I thought, no one came to open the door for me.
I went around to a small bungalow in the back, where my grandmother lived.
Of course, Grandma won't leave here, so the door of her house is usually open, and this time is no exception.
As soon as I entered, I saw her lying in a rocking chair basking in the sun.
"Grandma?" I screamed.
"Who's coming?" Grandma looked up at the voice.
When she saw that it was me, she smiled: "Yo, why are you back?"
"Our school is on holiday. Of course I'm coming back, but what about the others? I asked.
But my grandmother seemed to filter out the question, and she kept asking me how I was doing at school, or something. Just don't answer me that question.
Finally, after my repeated questioning, she finally said: "Your uncle said that he was going to do something and took all the young men away." As for where to go, he didn't tell me, and I don't know. β
Took all the people away? That's pretty much what I thought before. And I guessed again, if this is the case, presumably the place they go to will not be very close to here, and it is even possible that they go abroad.
"Uncle, when did they leave?" I asked again.
Grandma muttered and calculated, "It seems to be ...... Was it ten days ago? If I think about it, I've been gone for 15 days, right? β
15 days? It was almost half a month ago, and we came back from Greece only a month and a half ago. Uncle was also seriously injured at the time, he only rested for a month, and then went out again?
What is it about life, and where does it make him pay so much attention?
"Haozi, don't think about it, your uncle is such a person, he can't be idle every day, it's better to let him do work than to stay at home." Grandma said.
I nodded, casually perfunctory.
"What about Ah Cheng and Yuan An, didn't they come back? And what about the little girl last time? β
"They? They're busy, they're busy......" I responded.
At this moment, the sound of a tricycle sounded outside the door, and then a voice shouted, "Is Wang Hao here?" Got something for him?"
I looked back and saw a courier boy shouting at the door.
I hurriedly walked over: "I just, what did you send?" β
"I don't know, there are four or five boxes of them." The courier brother pointed to the cargo lane behind the tricycle, "These are all these." β
"Is the address written here or next door?" I asked again.
"The address is written next door, and I saw that there was no one next door, so I went inside and asked." The courier brother said, skillfully put down the goods, and left on three wheels.
I picked up one of the boxes and it felt a bit heavy. I tried several other boxes one after another, and the weight was different.
Looking at what is written on the list, these things are sent from Ejina Banner, and the sender has the word "Jingwei" written on it.
I don't know anyone named Jingwei who lives in Ejina Banner, so this person should be using a fake name.
Is there any danger in this sent?
For a moment, I stopped preparing to unpack.
"Haozi, what's it?" Grandma asked me inside.
"It's nothing, it's nothing, I'll go out for a while." I gritted my teeth and picked them up and walked towards a nearby clearing.
When I got to the ground, I picked up one of the boxes, hesitated, and opened it.
It's not a dangerous good. Rather, there are all sorts of accessories for small digging tools, as well as a jar of black and purple stuff.
I lifted the black and purple thing, looked at it for a long time, and couldn't see why, so I had to open the next box.
Inside this box were neatly stacked audio tapes.
When I saw this box full of tapes, my head was inexplicably bigger.
I took out two at random, and found that some of them didn't have magnetic rolls, what is the situation? I picked out a few more, and only one of them had a magnetic roll, the others were all bad.
How can there be good and bad?
I thought about it and picked it up, and in the end I found only four or five tapes that might have looked good.
Immediately after, I opened the remaining three boxes together. There's nothing strange in there. Instead, it's stuffed with shock-resistant foam.
Peeling back the foam, there are three vases that appear to be a set of blue and white porcelain.
I picked up one of them, and based on what I had learned all my life, I guessed that it should be a product of the Song and Yuan dynasties. But I don't know if it's from the Song Dynasty or the Yuan Dynasty, whether it's a real thing or a fake.
However, the ornamentation on this porcelain vase turned out to be a painting, or that kind of narrative painting.
But the brushwork of the painting is something I have never seen before, and the style of painting is also different from the Tang and Song Dynasty painting methods that I usually see. So what kind of story this is about, I don't understand it for a while.
I looked at the other two again, and it was the same, I couldn't understand it.
So, I put the porcelain vase back in the box and moved it back to my grandmother's house along with the other boxes.
My grandmother was very surprised to see that I had moved back so many boxes and asked me, "Why are there so many things?" What did you buy? β
"The things that someone brought me to show were all strange things, but there were three porcelain vases inside." After responding, I suddenly remembered that my grandmother seemed to have studied antiques before, and I heard that she had also taken charge of my grandfather's spiritual artifacts for a while. I'll show her those three porcelain vases later, won't I?!
So, I hurriedly took out the three porcelain vases from the box and placed them in front of my grandmother one by one.
"Grandma, there are three porcelain vases here, bothering you to palm." I said.
As soon as my grandmother saw the porcelain vase, she immediately became interested, took out the glasses in her arms and a set of tools for looking at antiques, and studied them carefully.
I took advantage of this time to go to the warehouse and take out an old-fashioned tape recorder, and came back and put the few audible tapes in it.
But the tapes that seemed to be playable only rustled into the tape recorder, and none of them could be heard.
I had no choice but to put the tape aside and study the jar of black and purple stuff.
When the jar was first opened, it emitted a special fragrance that made me think it was something like purple rice.
It wasn't until I poured out a little that I realized that it was a sand-like substance.
Someone sent me a jar of sand from afar?
After lowering the sand, I saw the archaeological tools in the boxes. I hadn't noticed just now that this archaeological tool is not new, but something that is some years old.
I took out the handle of a shovel and found a mark engraved on it.
Three horizontal and one vertical?
"Grandma, I remember that grandpa used to like to engrave marks on tools to indicate that they were for his own use, right?"
"Yes, he likes to carve three very close horizontal and one vertical, three horizontal and one vertical, king. He had a strange temper, and no one else could touch any tool he had carved. Say what this thing is already in his life......"
"Isn't that it?" I put the handle in front of my grandmother.
Grandma came over with glasses: "That's right, it's his, you found it from the warehouse?"
"yes......" I wasn't going to tell the truth.
"By the way, grandma, has my grandfather been to Ejinaqi?"
"Hungry for what? Are you hungry and want to eat chicken? Okay, yesterday the pony sent a couple of processed chickensβ"
"It's not. Hey, forget it, when I didn't say, grandma, you continue to look at antiques. I hurriedly stopped her.
"I can't see this antique, but I feel that it is something from the Yuan Dynasty, and this firing technique is used by the Mongolian people to strike iron. If you want to know, I know someone who should be able to help you a lot. β
"Who is that man? Where are you now?"
"That man is your grandfather's old customer, and his nickname is Jin Da Luoya. Now Beijing Liuli Factory. If you have time, go for a run. Grandma said, pulled out a piece of paper and wrote a contact information for me.
"Okay, okay." I hurriedly took the note, and saw a contact number on it, so I typed it into WeChat to see if I could find him.
But unfortunately, it can't be searched.
"This handle seems to be some years old, what's in that box? It's your grandfather's stuff too?" Grandma said this, and walked over, bent down and fiddled inside.
"These ...... Where did you turn it out? Grandma suddenly became excited.
"What's going on? Is there a problem with these tools, grandma?" I asked rhetorically.
Grandma shook her head, took something out of it, returned to the table, and took a magnifying glass to look at it.
"It seems to be his first tools, hey, look, there's still dried blood on it, he accidentally scratched his hand when he was engaged." Grandma put the tools down, "I remember that these tools have been gone for a long time, how did you find them?" β
"Someone sent it to me from Ejina." I said it anyway.
"Uh-what? I think I've heard of this stuff before. Grandma leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes, and muttered unto herself......
