Chapter 8 Five Finger Mountain

I don't know how other people understand the phrase "it is difficult to produce a noble son from a poor family".

Maybe people nowadays have become numb, and the motivation to support them to work hard every day is to live, to be more decent, or to live.

Since when has [money] become the dream of modern people. Because you have money, you can really do whatever you want within a certain limit, because some choices are made on a certain material basis, because 99 percent of the resources are in the hands of capital, and because you have money, you can really be superior to others.

I've seen people secretly hide their admission letters because they can't pay their tuition fees, I've seen people give up their dreams and be forced to choose low-cost majors in order to relieve the pressure on their families, I've seen people choose to flee the hospital in order to save some medical bills... I've heard the professor say to the parent, "He's so good, if it's my child, I'll let him take the test***", I've seen the parent's embarrassed smile, helpless... I've heard stories of breaking up because the man works hard and doesn't have time to accompany his lover to travel, fitness, and see the scenery, the boy wants to make money to support her, and wants to be worthy of her, but the girl dislikes the boy as just a working machine, no longer a dazzling star in the school...

Sometimes someone will say, "How boring is such a hard work, life should be walked around and see the world", maybe this person does not know that there are many people in this world who exhaust all their strength just to survive.

The world is so big, who wouldn't want to see it! The dream is so good, who wouldn't want to make it happen! Who wants to be adrift if they can. Where there are dreams, there is no home, and where there is a home, there are no dreams. This is probably the common sentiment of most migrant workers from small cities.

I used to think about why the admission score line of each province in the college entrance examination is different, and why candidates in Beijing can easily go to Peking University and Tsinghua University... Later, it slowly turned white, because those people were different from poor students since they were children. When you were a child, when you were still playing in the mud, they were in and out of the National Theater, your holidays were to tease birds and crickets, and they were in and out of various juvenile classes... We lament that the college entrance examination is unfair, but the reality is indeed that those children who live next to prestigious schools are excellent from an early age. I know that there are universities in Beijing where you can take Tsinghua University as a class, and how many universities in third- and fourth-tier cities can take an undergraduate degree for the whole class.

When you go to college, you will find that people are really different! The self-confidence of children from rich families and the inferiority complex of children from poor families can really be seen. That's why I envy those who "have poetry and books in their belly".

Life and reality are a five-finger mountain, no matter how hard we try, we still can't climb it. I often daydream, but I know it's a dream after all. We have different starting points, but through our own efforts, we can climb a little higher, stand higher, and see farther. So, you still have to work hard if you want to change.
