Chapter Ninety-One: Hints on the Painting
April 7, 2018
In the exhibition hall, the lights were bright, and there were no windows in this room, only two doors, two visible doors to be exact. All those who were invited to the Museum of the Dead this time were scattered throughout the exhibition hall. Everyone is evenly spaced and seems to fit into every corner of the room.
In the center of this exhibition hall, Zhang Xiaoqian and Yin Fei'er stood in front of the four cabinets, as if they had found something new. They seemed to feel that this was the place where all the lights gathered, and that it was a little brighter than the rest of the exhibition hall.
The two of them, one is a mystery novelist and the other is a lover of mystery games, and for people in both fields, they have a natural curiosity about strange things and are always able to discover something new from them.
On the four paintings in front of them, each one depicts something different.
The two of them stepped forward, almost standing on the same line, parallel to the four paintings in front of them, and the two pairs of eyes could clearly see the four paintings in front of them at the same time.
The first painting depicts a pile of books, this one in monochrome ink, with only one color on the scroll, which looks like it is a bit cyan and black. The scrolls are arranged in a certain order, they should be stick figures, only simple lines, without too much depiction, from this point of view, there should be almost five or six books superimposed on top of each other, because there are still a few books blocking the books behind, so it is not possible to see exactly how many books there are on it. They looked at the description below the painting, but there was no explanation for the painting in the introduction, only 1905.
The second painting depicts a shelf, a simple shelf, also a single ink, a little yellowish in color, this should be a shelf with some ornaments, the scale is not very small, but it also has three layers. Strangely enough, there was nothing on the shelf, and it was empty, like a body that had been pulled out of its heart and only a skeleton remained. This painting is not described below only the time, and like the first painting, it is also 1995.
They shifted their position slightly, closer to the third and fourth, and seemed clearer.
The third painting depicts a woman, which is more colorful than the first two paintings, and the whole scroll is not very monotonous. In this painting, the woman has her back to her, and she is alone holding a red umbrella, and above the umbrella, a few drops of light rain fall on it, splashing on the red umbrella. And the most prominent part of the whole picture is the woman's back. The woman was wearing a cheongsam, with her colorful figure and gorgeous cheongsam, and in the rain, the woman's back was like the focus of all eyes, so that people could not take their eyes off it for a long time.
Like the first two paintings, there is no explanation in the introduction below this painting, there is only one time, also in 1905. They looked at the fourth painting again.
The fourth painting depicts a simple serving of food, and the reason it is said to be simple is because the food in this painting is only noodles. It is different from the third painting, but like the first two, it is a monotonous color and appears to be a stick figure. The bowls and noodles depicted in black lines are not just one bowl but three bowls. There is not even a table on top of this painting, it is just a "face".
Again, the two of them looked at the introduction under the painting, which was not introduced on it, only one time, also in 1905.
This is strange, a few questions suddenly appeared in Zhang Xiaoqian and Yin Fei'er's minds. They wondered why the four paintings were released separately in the center of this exhibition hall.
There is also the question of why none of the four paintings are described in the brief below, and they are all dated to 1905. Whether these paintings were painted by Jin Xi or not, they don't know now. And Ling Qi has not shown up since the beginning of today.
Maybe it's because yesterday was their first day here, and there were a lot of things that Ling Qi needed to introduce. After a day of getting acquainted with himself, Ling Qi didn't seem to have to show up. What's more, there are some things he says very clearly. After coming to a qualified museum, everything has to be carried out by one's own reasoning and exploration. Finally find the secrets hidden by this museum. He also mentioned some precautions.
Looking at the painting in front of him, these four paintings are definitely not simple. There must be something behind them. It's just that they haven't found out exactly what it is.
When the two of them were looking at these four paintings, Han Mo happened to come to their side with Wen Ya.
Han Mo had been studying the cracks in the ground, but the inside of the gaps was too dark, even if he stuck his entire head on the ground and let his eyes look inside above the gaps, he would not find anything.
"Do you have any new discoveries?"
Han Mo said to Zhang Xiaoqian and Yin Fei'er.
Zhang Xiaoqian turned around and saw that it was Han Mo who was talking to him, and then he moved his body away, letting go of a body between himself and Yin Fei'er, and motioned for Han Mo to come forward and take a look at the four paintings.
Then Han Mo stepped forward, his eyes looked at the four paintings in front of him at the same time, and his years of experience as a criminal police officer could see what was depicted on these four paintings at once. A pile of books, a shelf, a woman's back, three bowls of noodles. And as if he was habitually moving, after reading the content on the scroll, he immediately lowered his head and looked at the introduction below. Like what Yin Fei'er Zhang Xiaoqian discovered, there is no introduction in the introduction, only a time is 1905.
After reading the above time, Han Mo stood up and looked at Zhang Xiaoqian and Yin Fei'er beside him, as if making eye contact. And this scene was seen by Wen Ya behind Han Mo, but maybe because he was a layman, Wen Ya couldn't understand the strange thing they felt just now, as well as the eye contact between them.
"What did you find?" Wen Ya couldn't help it anymore and asked how many of them were.
Han Mo said to Wen Ya: "We think these four paintings are hinting at something!" ”
"Yes!" After Han Mo's words fell, Yin Fei'er beside her immediately said.
"The order of these four paintings from left to right must be according to what kind of law, and then what kind of content they want to express." Zhang Xiaoqian then said.
"There is also the time under the scroll, all of which are in 1905, this must not be a simple coincidence, you can see that in the entire exhibition hall, all the paintings are almost almost a few paintings of the same age juxtaposed together, in order to better let people see the pictures of different eras, the era is generally separated, but in front of us, it is still the most central position of this exhibition hall, four paintings of the same era are listed side by side, it is difficult for people to think that there is no strange in it." Han Mo then added to Wen Ya.
After Han Mo finished speaking, Wen Ya nodded as if she didn't understand.
At this time, Yin Fei'er on the side looked at the time in her hand, it was already more than twelve o'clock at noon. They looked around the exhibition hall, and the four of them seemed to be about to leave the exhibition hall and go to the room at the end of the exhibition hall to prepare for dinner.
"Let's go eat first." Zhang Xiaoqian also met Ling Yu and the others, and then said to Han Mo, Yin Fei'er and Wen Ya at the same time.
"Hmm!" The three of them nodded at the same time.
After that, they exited the exhibition hall together.
When they arrived at the room where they were dining, Han Mo and Zhang Xiaoqian were the first of the four of them to come in. They saw that Ling Yu and the others were already sitting on the sofa. And this table was already full of food, and Chu Ming and Shu Xiaoran had already begun to eat.
Then they sat down and shared their findings with Ling Yu and the others while eating.
What they observed in the exhibition hall was different, but at the moment they all had a common question - when did Ling Qi bring the food in? Even if they were too attentive when they were observing the scrolls in the exhibition hall, there were eight of them, so not that none of them had seen Ling Qi. And the corridor that connects this room, in addition to the exhibition hall, is the corridor behind another door.
At the end of the hallway, several of them had explored before, and there could be no other way, and if it wasn't for the exhibition hall, there was only one possibility. There must be a secret passage in this room. This just confirmed Zhang Xiaoqian's thoughts last night.
Of course, Zhang Xiaoqian still has a question, that is, the four paintings he just observed, and he talked to them about it during dinner. And this is Han Mo as if he remembered something, his two eyes kept looking in the direction of the window, and then said to everyone present:
"Look there!"
Han Mo pointed to the four windows of this room.
Everyone looked in the direction of Han Mo's finger, and there were four light bulbs on top of those four windows. To be honest, they hadn't noticed it before, probably because the lights in this room were always bright, and the four bulbs were just used as decorations.
While looking at the light bulb above the window, Ling Yu seemed to understand what Han Mo was thinking. Just now, Ling Yu heard Zhang Xiaoqian mention the four paintings they saw in the exhibition hall. And at this time, Han Mo talked about the four light bulbs on the top of the four windows.
Probably what Han Mo wanted to express was that there were four picture scrolls they saw, and there happened to be four light bulbs on the window at this time, which should not be a simple coincidence.
Maybe these four light bulbs have some kind of connection with the four paintings just now.
However, it is indeed a bit far-fetched to think like this, Ling Yu thinks that first of all, these four paintings must be arranged together to express what kind of content, and secondly, these four light bulbs are the same, but the four paintings are different, so it seems that there is no way to do a one-to-one correspondence. Therefore, I am afraid that it is necessary to unravel the hints on these four paintings!
