However, in 19 years, the great discovery of the Harappan civilization suddenly raised the history of Indian civilization by thousands of years, and set off an Indian fever all over the world. The central period of the civilization was around 2000 BC, giving rise to farming city-states based on bronze and pottery. At that time, India was in the colonial period, and India and Pakistan had not yet been partitioned, so the Indus civilization was subsumed into the concept of pan-India. In fact, the core area of ancient Indian civilization is in present-day Pakistan, and it has little to do with the state of India. According to archaeological judgment, the population is closer to the population of present-day southern India. (We will re-examine the history of South India in the following chapters.)

At that time, this Indian fever also swept the New Culture Movement, and the Chemistry Movement was a progressive trend of thought, but its attitude of "anti-tradition, anti-Confucianism, anti-Wenyan" and "embracing Western learning" was inevitably some extremes in the details. Some of the literary giants we are familiar with even shouted the slogan of abolishing and replacing with Latin characters, which shows how overkill the ideological trend at that time was. At this time, a large number of Western studies were absorbed and used to attack traditional culture. For example, the modern vernacular Oriental origin theory and the Indian origin theory all come from this. At that time, a group of literati led by Hu Shi and Guo Moruo successively put forward the Huatuo Indian theory, the Mozi Indian theory, and even the Monkey King Indian origin theory. I don't mean to attack these literary giants here, but to summarize some of the absurdities of that era. According to the use of mandala flowers in Ma Boiling Powder, Hua Tuo was judged to be Indian, and according to Mo Zhai's pronunciation and ascetic proposition, it was attached that Mozi was Indian, so as to reflect the reversal of the pair, which was actually no different from grandstanding.

Without further ado, let's go back to the Harappan culture. At the time, it was a remarkable archaeological find, predating China's Shang Dynasty. But we would like to remind you once again that Shang is a dynasty and a country. Harappa is a cultural circle, and it should be the site of the ancient cultural city-state of Liangzhu and Peiligang. The Harappan culture and Liangzhu were about the same time, later than Pei Ligang. The degree of civilization is not ahead, and you can compare the city-state layout, pottery craftsmanship level, and farming technology of the ancient city of Liangzhu by yourself. Transform each into a good game. When we make horizontal comparisons of civilizations, we should accurately benchmark and not engage in double standards. Others have brought out the city-state culture, we have to compare it with the national history and culture, is it clear that it started from the Shang Dynasty? This logic is comical, but it seems that we ourselves have accepted it indifferently, and this is all a "new" (xi) cultural legacy.

Next, I will briefly talk about the two epic poems of India, so that you can quickly understand the ancient history of India:

"Mahabharata" tells the story of the pandava and the giant deer tribe fighting for China. (China, also known as Tianzhu, is similar to the definition of China in ancient China and ancient Japan.) The leader of the Julu clan, Zhiguo (the same name as the king of the kingdom), had a hundred sons, and the eldest son was known as invincible and had great military achievements. However, in the Battle of the Giant Deer, all 99 invincible brothers were killed, and finally forced to hide in the lake and breathe with reed tubes. But the five panda brothers still found the invincible and pulled him out to knock him out. The invincible subordinates attacked the Panda Clan's camp at night, and the Panda Clan suffered heavy losses as a result. The eldest brother of the five brothers of the Panda tribe was enlightened and went to the Himalayas to monastic. The panda tribe has bred in China, and its capital, Tiandi City, is now Delhi (Delhi New City is also New Delhi).

The name Delhi is based on a monarch named Dhillu or Dili in the third century BC. The two spellings that are passed down by word of mouth are nothing but Lilu. Judging by the time, this emperor should also be a member of the Panda Clan.

"Ramayana" tells the story of the battle between Avalokiteshvara (Rama) and the demon king Ravana. The demon king Ravana had ten heads and twenty arms, and he was brave, and was finally killed by Rama's ally, the monkey Hanuman. Hanuman was powerful and conquered South India and Sri Lanka.

Why did Mr. Hu Shi say that Hanuman was the prototype of the Monkey King? Because in the epic, the monkey once turned into a cat...... Is this divine logic? I don't understand, isn't there a monkey in ancient Chinese mythology? Song Yu told King Chu Xiang: There are Xuan Ape Chaoteng coming and going, and the dragon is prosperous and the birds are gathered. ("Liu Xiang?") New preface) "Wu Yue Chunqiu" has Yuan Gongtong's human language, and the sword is more than a woman. Aren't these monkeys? Why is there a forcible association between the monkey and India? (Insert a digression, and another says that the Monkey King character is derived from the evil spirit.) The legend about the Wuzhi evil originated in the Tang Dynasty, and the source of the "Classic of Mountains and Seas", which was widely spread and even cited by an encyclopedia, was actually a pseudo-canon. Looking through the "Classic of Mountains and Seas", I can't find the unbranched evil. The fact that the legend of the Wuzhi cult appeared much later in the literature than Hanuman does not serve as a counterexample to the rejection of the Western theory. οΌ‰

The image of Sun Wukong is actually an allusion to the image of the Yue people, so let's not dwell on it here. But these two epic plots in India, what giant deer vs. panda clan won, and the demon king Luo Bo has many arms and many arms, how do I sound so much like the Yellow Emperor vs. Chi You? Well, I don't want to touch the Indian epic out of China. However, China's "Shangshu" and "Zuo Chuan", which record the ancient wars, must have been written earlier than those two Indian epics.

What is certain, however, is that at the time of the writing of these two epics (3rd century BC), it was not the modern Indians living on the Indian subcontinent, but the ancient peoples, mainly. Mutual interpenetration, borrowing? That's bound to happen. As for who copied whom, it can only be said that the benevolent and the wise see the wise. 8)
