Chapter 8 The Problem of Sleeping

After wandering in the grass for a long time, the sun gradually became darker, and when I looked up, the sun had set near the horizon. The protagonist knows that it will be dusk soon.

The reason why he stays on the surface for so long is because the protagonist has a glimmer of hope. Although the cave exit is not in a family's home, as expected, but in an apparently wilderness, there is still a possibility that humans or vehicles will pass through if there is a road nearby.

Finding humanity is the protagonist's most desperate hope at the moment. He thinks that only by seeing human beings can the protagonist clearly judge the era he is in, whether he should seek help from humans, and most importantly, whether he can turn back into humans, if in a future high-tech world, then there is still great hope.

But until this time, the protagonist didn't see humans and vehicles, not even the shadow of a bird, and the wind-howling sky, although so vast, seemed to be the only master of the sun, and could not accommodate the existence of any living beings.

As the already dark day became more dim, the ant flow of worker ants returning to the nest gradually intensified, and the bustling ants chased after me, pushing each other into the hole** This is the only valve, with a wave of traffic peaks, the number of ants gradually becomes sparse.

"I didn't expect the ants to catch the rush hour." The protagonist thinks: "I really miss the crowded roads and subways in the imperial capital, as long as I am allowed to go back, I would rather be crowded with a carriage of fat people in the summer of forty degrees", and followed back to the nest, he did not have the courage and courage to spend the night alone outside, and he could also think with his toes that the night was not friendly to small insects, and was even full of hostility.

Returning to the main road in the lair, the protagonist follows the route in his memory, and walks down obliquely for a while, returning to the cave with a soft silk bed, and the four soldier ants at the door simply verify it with their antennae, and then let him go.

But as soon as he entered, the protagonist found that the cave was already crowded with winged ants, not only on the silk bed, but also on the open ground were ants standing on their stomachs in various postures, estimated to be forty or fifty, and it seemed that all the pupae that had hatched together. The protagonist takes a closer look, and Roll and the six Rambo are also among them, but the protagonist is no longer in the mood to greet them, and he doesn't want to communicate with the remaining dozens of winged ants.

The protagonist silently retreats, it seems that this place is impossible to stay, and it is easy to have nightmares with a group of strange-looking companions who huddle together for the night like sardines in a can.

The protagonist emerges from the cave again and continues down the main road. The protagonist has already walked the way up, although many forks and holes have not been explored, but now he wants to continue to see what is below. So the protagonist climbs down, and when he sees the cave, he burrows into it, thinking that if he can find a quiet and comfortable little corner, he can rest in it for the night.

But I found a number of burrows, either granaries or nests full of soldier or worker ants. Some of the granaries are littered with insect corpses, disgusting the protagonist again.

There are also nurseries, each with a few worker ants tending to a colony of white, fleshy, maggot-like ant larvae that crawl around on the silk bed, busily busting the worker ants on the side. After getting used to seeing the hideous faces of adult ants, I suddenly saw these larvae, and I thought it was very cute.

And in one of the nurseries, the protagonist discovers something very useful - the silk of the silk bed. Some of the larvae are spitting out silk from time to time, and the worker ants next to it will collect the silk in time, some are padded under the larvae, and some are stacked together, and it is obvious that they will be carried to other places for silk beds or other purposes.

The protagonist is worried about sleeping at night, after all, as a human body's biological clock is still working, and as the night gets darker, the sleepiness grows stronger. So the protagonist unceremoniously used his forelimbs to take away all the silk piled together, and the worker ants did not stop it, and they didn't even have the meaning of stretching out their tentacles to explore it.

Holding on to this pile of silk, the protagonist finally finds a cave on the side of a half-collapsed path, which looks abandoned, with few ants coming, and is a short distance from the main road.

Although the small cave seems to be neglected to be cleaned, and there are still some large particles of soil and stones on the ground, the protagonist is not so picky, and simply kicks a few large soil particles and stones aside, spreads the silk on the ground, and then smooths out the silk, and makes a good silk bed.

Lying on the silk bed, the protagonist feels that although it is slightly worse than the silk bed made by the ants, it is not smooth enough, but it is enough to comfort a tired body.

The protagonist, who was resting on his stomach, unconsciously sorted out the experience of the day again.

"No one else is like me again, I died once, and I felt like I was going to sleep forever."

"Who knew that when I woke up, I turned into an ant, and I was really shocked when I first saw what I looked like."

"Fortunately, I'm also a person who has read hundreds of millions of words of travel novels, so I'm still alive, let's take one step at a time."

"The ant's body is not as difficult to control as expected, except that it can't take off."

"Anyway, it seems that my eyesight is still the same as that of humans, and so should my brain, after all, I feel too smart now, and my brain is better than when I was human."

"It would be nice if I could turn back into humans, this world is so windy, and ants are so hard to live......"

"I can't eat, and I haven't drunk water for a day......"

With these thoughts spinning in his head, the protagonist falls asleep again. I don't know what kind of experience I will have tomorrow!
