Chapter 9: A Little Story
Worker ants' self-report
I am a worker ant, and I was born to the same mother as tens of thousands of siblings, and she is known as the "queen ant".
Since birth, my siblings and I have been raised by adult worker ants. When we were able to take control of our actions, we were assigned to different departments.
In the world of ants, we are divided into four classes, the top layer is the "queen ant", the middle and upper layers are male ants, the middle layer is soldier ants, and the bottom layer is worker ants. And I was assigned to the worker ant class.
At first, other worker ants would teach us how to build nests, how to find food, how to protect ourselves, etc. In the beginning, in addition to learning from the worker ants, we received free honeydew and leaf rhizomes every day, which was the happiest thing for us every day.
When we reach adulthood, the worker ants who teach us no longer discipline us. We started working with other worker ants.
Young and energetic worker ants are the least afraid of suffering and suffering, and the honeydew and young leaves and rhizomes obtained by daily labor are our best reward.
We started out of the cave to find food for the family, and then expanded the area of the nest to provide housing for more and more family members. We work tirelessly, day after day. Together, we were able to lift objects that weighed 100 times our bodies, and we used our bodies to defend our homes against the invaders, and we bought time for the soldiers to fight back.
Everything is entrusted to us, but we have no complaints......
A fledgling's statement
I'm a sparrow.
During my time growing up, I was very happy, I didn't have to be afraid of the cold, I didn't have to fear predators, and I didn't have to worry about lack of food. I'm used to this life ...
However, in the years that followed, the mother and father sparrows returned to the nest less and less, and the food they brought with them began to decrease, and I was often alone in the empty nest, and the cold made me wrap my wings around me, and hunger made me gnaw on the leaves outside the nest. I went through it day after day.
Finally one day,
The mother sparrow and the father returned to the nest together, which was the happiest time for my bird's life.
But, they're here to say goodbye to me.
Here's what they said: "My child, you have the ability to fly, which means that you have grown up." So, your father and I will leave here too, and everything from here to you will be up to you. ”
I sat in the nest and watched them go away. I was scared, I stepped on the edge of the bird's nest with my paws, I spread my wings to fly, but the endless cliff bottom made me flinch, and I could only watch them disappear from sight, flapping their wings anxiously until they disappeared from sight.
From that day on, I knew that I was the only bird left, and that there would be no more birds to shelter me from the elements, no more birds to bring food to my mouth and drive away predators for me, no more ......
I trained my wings every day, trying to make myself fly, I gnawed on leaves when I was hungry, and I used them to shield the hole of my nest from the cold wind when it was cold, until today, I decided to try to jump out of my nest and spread my wings to fly.
I stepped on the edge of the nest with my paws, and looked at the bottomless cliff bottom, and I mustered up the courage to spread my wings, and kicked forward with both paws.
My whole body was descending rapidly, and I tried to flap my wings to try to fly, but to no avail. The bird descended faster and faster, and soon I saw the bottom of the cliff, a green field!
It was the first time I had seen the bottom of the cliff, but I didn't have time to admire it, and I knew that if I couldn't fly, I would be just a handful of fertilizer in the greenery.
I made the birth flat flap his wings as fast as possible, 20 meters,.... 10 m ,.... 6 m ,... The faster I got to the bottom of the cliff, the harder I flapped my wings, and when I was almost two meters above the ground, I had already shown in my mind the tragic situation of lying on the ground.
It sent shivers down my body, and I closed my eyes and lifted myself up with all my might.
One minute passed, I opened my eyes tremblingly, only to see my body floating in the air, my wings flapping by themselves, at this moment, I finally learned to fly!
I was so happy that I could go and find my mother and father who had left me a long time ago, and I chirped happily.
I swooped over the greens, I soared in the sky, my birdsong resounded in the sky!
I was tired of playing, I wanted to go back to the nest, I flew to the nest, suddenly there was a sound of panic in the sky, I wanted to turn around, but the sharp claws gave me no chance, the claws pierced my body, and I wailed in pain.
I struggled to look up, and the sharp beak struck my head, and the last thing I saw was the hunter-like eagle eyes.........
