Chapter 2: An Unpleasant Childhood
I always felt that I was an unlikable child, with little talk and no way to speak.
At home, the most likable ones are probably the younger siblings, the eldest sister who is the best at housework, and the second sister who is the most proficient in reading.
The younger brother is a male baby, and it is natural to be favored. And my sister is the youngest girl, lively and active, sweet-talking, and very pleasing to the elders. On Children's Day, New Year's Day, New Year's Day and other holidays, my aunt and aunt would buy them beautiful clothes and fun toys, and I could only watch them show off in front of me. There is no way, I don't like my elders, so naturally I don't get attention. I consoled myself not to be jealous, they were my younger siblings. I should be happy that the elders like them, but I still inevitably feel lost in my heart. I'm just a kid, and I want them to look at me.
I rarely go out by myself, and my sister took me out to play with the children in the village when I was a child. Fortunately, I still have my peers to play with, and I don't care if I'm pampered at home or not, so I'm happy. I followed my sister to the neighbor's house to watch cartoons, and at that time there was no TV at home, and the neighbor's house had not only old-fashioned televisions, but also CD recordings of cartoons. I don't feel tired of watching the gourd baby every day, and I felt that the TV was a magical thing. There are also movies shown in the village several times a year, that is, in a vacant lot, a white cloth stands in front, and an uncle controls a projector in the back to project the movie on the white cloth. It's very strange, every time there is a movie, the open space is always crowded with people from the village.
It's just that my sister often bullies me, probably because she thinks I'm boring, and maybe sometimes I can't play together. She would hit me and make me cry before she stopped. I didn't dare to fight back, I was afraid that if I fought back, she wouldn't take me with her when she went out to play in the future. However, if I am not convinced, I will talk back, and she will beat me even more. Maybe it's because I'm favored, or maybe I think I won't sue my parents. She was really bold, and bullying me slowly became her habit. However, one day, probably because I was bullied too much, I actually remembered to resist. I got into a fight with her, and she cried. Actually, I didn't try too hard, but she probably thought I was going to be bullied by her as I used to. I didn't, and she thought I was different. After that, she reined in and didn't dare to bully me blatantly anymore.
The eldest sister can be said to be a strong woman in the minds of her sisters, she is very diligent, working in the fields, doing housework, everything. She came out to work before graduating from junior high school, thinking about helping the family reduce the burden so that her younger sisters could study. From then on, in addition to work, she also had to take care of household chores. Sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, cooking, and washing clothes every day, there are nine people in the family, and there are a lot of clothes. In winter, the cold wind howls. After everyone in the family had finished bathing, she washed her clothes in the cold wind with cold well water. After washing the clothes, his hands were red, stiff and numb, and there was no temperature at all. But there is no way, my parents are very busy farming every day, and the eldest sister is reluctant to let my parents go home and do housework. Actually, I think among the many sisters, the eldest sister is the hardest. She has to get up at 6 o'clock in the morning every morning to cook, sweep and mop the floor, and finish her work and eat before going to school. I have to cook at noon, and I cook at night, then wash the dishes, clean up the table, and do the laundry. In fact, the time for studying is very small, and the grades are naturally not as good as the second sister.
I have slept with my eldest sister since I was a child, I am very timid, it is dark at night, I am afraid of ghosts. Because I grew up listening to ghost stories told by the elders in the village since I was a child, the elders told ghost stories vividly, which made people feel in the situation. The older village boys like to pretend to be ghosts and scary, and I am often scared. At night, I had an urgent need to sleep until I woke up in the middle of the night, and I didn't dare to go to the toilet alone, so I would always wake up the eldest sister next to me and let her get up and turn on the light, so I dared to go to the toilet. When I came back after peeing, I saw my eldest sister waiting for me with her eyes closed, and I guess I was very sleepy. But she never refused me, nor did she say that I was troublesome, so I kept disturbing her sleep. The door of the room where my eldest sister and I slept was a heavy wooden door, and when it rained, the wooden door was often too heavy to open, so I would also shake my eldest sister awake and ask her to open the door for me. I don't want to wake her up, she's tired from work and tired from doing housework. But I had to go to school, and I had to wake her up. In fact, I was moved in my heart, and I still dare not forget it. My eldest sister is really good to me, she is like a light that warms my heart.
The second sister is the best at reading in the family, and she is a role model for her younger sisters to learn. She would also go to the fields after school to help pull weeds and water vegetables, but she did little housework. She basically spent her evening hours studying, and she did well in her studies and went to a key middle school in the town. He is free of tuition for six years, and he is the first college student in the village to be admitted to the undergraduate program. It can be said that she is the pride of her parents, and every Chinese New Year, I can often hear relatives praise my second sister for being able to read, and praise my parents for giving birth to a great daughter, and my parents are praised so much that they can't close their mouths. At that time, I told myself in my heart that I would also study hard like my second sister, so that everyone could see my existence and praise me.
Before I was eight years old, I didn't have to go to the fields to help, but my parents couldn't let me play in the village all the time, and my parents gave me the task of herding cattle. Lead the cow to a grassy area, feed the cow for about an hour or two, and then lead the cow to the barn. Then I can go home. It was a very boring thing, and there was no one around me, only an old cow to accompany me. Sometimes I even talk to it, whether it understands it or not. Or touch the body of the cow, its hair is very smooth; I also touch its horns, which are curved and semi-circular. It's arguably the best-looking cow I've ever seen. Moreover, it is very well-behaved, does not run around, and eats grass around. There was no grass around, and it dragged me forward.
One day, the old cow couldn't work anymore and was sold by his parents. The old cow's eyes were moist, I thought it had feelings, but it couldn't change the fate of being sold, and I watched it leave me with tears in my eyes. It has worked hard for most of its life, and in the end, it can only be sold to become a human table dish. Its life is probably a tragedy, but agriculture is indispensable, and it can be regarded as paying its life.
My younger brother was sent to kindergarten by my parents, and my other task was to pick him up and take him home. Mainly because my younger brother is very playful, he will be taken to the field by his parents. Thinking that under his nose, the child should not have an accident. However, his parents didn't have time to watch him all the time, and he didn't see him for a while, he could play with himself in the ditch, which often scared his parents to the core. Moreover, he also likes to play on the neighbor's tricycle, and his jaw was scratched by the nails on the car, and he had more than a dozen stitches, and his parents were really heartbroken. I had to send my younger brother to kindergarten, although the conditions at home were not very good, but for the safety of my younger brother, I still sent kindergarten insurance. At 5 p.m., the kindergarten bus will drop my brother off at the entrance of the village, which is close to the elementary school, and there are many students and parents who drive to pick up their children. Once, I was waiting for my younger brother on the side of the road when I was hit by a parent's car and fell very painfully. I almost cried out in pain, and I was afraid that the parent would blame me for standing at the intersection and not looking at the car, so I looked at the parent and didn't speak. The parent seemed to see that there was no adult around me, and he didn't apologize, so he hurriedly drove away. When I went home, I was afraid that my parents would scold me and I wouldn't squeak, so I didn't dare to say it, and I only hid it in my heart.
