Chapter 25 Tracking and Locating
"How long is it left?" Figley asked Officer Huang next to him.
They are slowly driving away from the city center and walking on remote mountain roads.
"I didn't think the location would be outside the city, but fortunately it's not too far."
"Is there something wrong?" Figley thought that if the criminals discovered the location information function on Lintor's phone, there was a good chance that the man and machine would be separated. In that case, wouldn't they be the opposite of their goal now?
Officer Huang didn't respond, and he didn't plan to turn around. The road was dusty, there were dark clouds in the distance, and he hoped it wouldn't rain.
The car drove into a steep slope, and the road became slower and slower as the speed increased. Figley looked out the window, paddy fields and golden sunflowers moving away from him.
It's a small town, but there are one or two medium-sized lumberyards nearby, and the workers are still working shirtless in the hot and dry weather. Further inside, you can see two rows of high and low floors, and the lower floor is a pre-rental house, and there are some scattered shops that have opened their doors.
Most of the cars are parked on the side of the road, and it is rare to see people walking on the road, even the pedestrians are pitiful.
In any case, the priority now is to find Linto first, even if there is only the slightest clue. Figley didn't want anything to happen to him.
In a moment, the front of the car turned into a straight road, and Officer Huang parked the car in the grid-like parking lot. On both sides of the road were a complex of magnificent villas, as many as seven or eight, but they were all empty.
"Is this it?"
Officer Huang confirmed the navigator again and replied, "This is it." ”
The two got out of the car and walked, walked to the intersection and turned right to the largest villa, which was no different from any other villa on the surface.
Obviously no one lives, but the windows are covered with dark curtains, the weeds in the inner and outer courtyards have not been cleaned up for a long time, and the surrounding apricot trees are used as a foil, which actually produces an eerie feeling.
"How long has it been since we received the message?"
"It's not been twenty minutes." Figley replied.
Officer Huang was speechless, and he approached the imitation copper door, which indeed had a lock hanging on it. Figley thought that the phone was thrown somewhere in the grass, but in this case, they were afraid that they would not be able to get in.
"How so?"
"Just ask the people around here, the only thing we can rely on is this positioning, and looking for a child in such a big city is tantamount to looking for a needle in a haystack."
Figley felt that he had a point, and the two of them walked back together, trampling on the dead leaves all over the ground, which was particularly harsh in the tranquility of the environment.
They found a shop selling snail noodles on the side of the road, owned by a middle-aged man in his forties with a small beard on his chin. He made no secret of the origin of those villas.
It happened about three years ago, and there used to be a big lake in that land, and the water was crystal clear, and there were a lot of fish in the lake. In the past, people lived by the water, self-sufficient, and could not catch enough fish, and the locals suspected that they swam from other underground caves, because there are many mountains here and the terrain is complicated.
However, as the times changed, the residents became more affluent, and some builders built high-rise buildings here, believing that this was a treasure trove of feng shui and could develop into a metropolis in the future.
The construction of villas was also a recent event, when no one thought of filling the lake and the local fishermen gradually gave up fishing. I don't know if no one cares about it or what, the fish in that lake are slowly decreasing, and the water in the lake doesn't seem to be as clear as before.
In the end, a wealthy businessman who had returned from abroad took a fancy to the place and suggested that it be buried and an educational institution or something else. As a result, another builder came over and built a few villas here in a hurry to relieve the population pressure in the city.
Officer Huang asked how it was selling, but the owner shook his head and said, "Just like you see." When he asked again, the middle-aged uncle refused to say anything.
Figley sat in a chair drinking frozen lemons and listened to their conversation, the sun outside the window was so hot that the two of them were sweating when they first entered.
Officer Huang, who left the countertop, called the intermediary company to which the villas belonged on the spot, and learned that the quotation had reached an unreliable level.
"You wait here, I'll be back soon." He said this to Figley.
He nodded in response, he didn't say where to go, but Figley didn't want to ask more.
After Officer Huang left, Figley waited for a while, and there were still ten or so minutes left before the next location was delivered, but would it still make sense? If it is marked on the other side of the earth, will it still be hard to find it?
It was a very difficult time, and Figley walked to the door of the shop to watch, and listened only to the words of the owner as if to complain: "Alas, this town is so deserted, it is not as good as it used to be......"
Figley didn't want to hear the man complain, he could almost imagine what it had been like before, with green mountains and waters, flocks of chickens and ducks, as quiet and natural as his own country.
"Would you like to hear a few words from me, boy?" The uncle asked him.
"Okay, you say."
Figley walked to the sales desk, but the uncle stopped talking, and looked at him for a while before asking, "Are you looking for someone?" ”
"Yes."
"Looking for whom?" From the uncle's tone, Figley sensed the kindness of the other party, so he did not hide it.
"A friend of mine."
"Judging by your age, you're supposed to be in high school, right?" The uncle chatted with him while wiping the counter, "It's okay, I'll just ask." ”
"No, I'm still in junior high school." He wondered in his heart, did he develop so fast?
The uncle smiled embarrassedly, and then asked, "Oh, I have a daughter, and she's your age." ”
It turned out that this was the case, Figley suddenly thought of Su Muyu in the next class, is he like a high school student? Obviously he's more like.
The uncle put away his smile and pursed his lips and said, "Who was the man who was with you just now?" ”
"He's a police officer in the city, and he's helping me find someone."
"Hmm...... How can I say it, I don't think he's like a cop. ”
Figley was dumbfounded: "What do you mean?" ”
"Don't get me wrong, in fact, I'm not saying that he is not a good person, but I heard that some criminals have recently pretended to be police officers and deceived a lot of people, I see that you are still young, and you should not trust any strangers."
"I know that." He said calmly.
Now, he really has a little suspicion that the person surnamed Huang may not be a policeman, and he is different from the sanctimonious appearance he saw in the hospital, and he always feels that he is not very reliable.
Or maybe even the temperament has changed after changing into a police uniform? Could it be that the other party left himself here for some other purpose? Will he just be gone?
Figley finally couldn't help but take out his phone, and what was even more sad was that he found that he hadn't written down the other party's number!
