Part 7 The Watcher of the Exotic Sky 19 Declaration of Rebellion

19 Declaration of Mutiny

Ryan stared blankly at the PDA on his lap, pretending to be reading a rather boring manuscript, when the actual screen was filled with footage from monitors all over the Minerva. After determining that the AI was turned off, Ryan realized that all surveillance functions on the space station were completely offline, and he could confidently use hacking software to hack into the system without fear of being countered by any firewall – they were also controlled by AI. But his intrusion will have no effect on gaining control of the station, as it would require turning on the AI to complete biometrics or enter an authorization password that only the commander knows, so that he can take full control of the Minerva station.

Ryan cautiously maneuvered, and the scene cuts to the scene in Research Room 2: Miller is sitting on the ground with his head down, next to Lucien with a gun, and he is kneeling in front of Miller on one knee, as if begging him, and a Brazilian female security guard is guarding the doorway. Ryan connected the translation headset to the PDA, which was able to hear the sound in the surveillance footage.

“…… You know they lied to us, and I don't blame you......" Lucien earnestly persuaded Miller, "...... I hope you think twice and tell me the password as soon as possible......"

"Password? Probably referring to the authorization password of the space station AI. Ryan thought to himself.

The Russian security guards wandered the room, consciously or unconsciously, and the rest of the team were chatting or contemplating, with Ryan alone holding the PDA and staring at the screen with relish, which aroused his suspicions. The Russian, though acting somewhat casually, understood his duties, and naturally walked to Ryan not far away, squinting at the PDA screen, but—

“With the whole world crumbling,we pick up this time to fall in love.” (The whole world is going to collapse, but we are choosing this time to fall in love.) Ryan pronounced the line as if he were talking to himself, his expression intoxicated. The Russians also saw clearly what was in the picture, which was the black-and-white film "Casablanca". When his gaze returned to Ryan's face, he saw that the other man was smiling and staring at him, and then raised his eyebrows teasingly—the frightened Russian hurried away.

"It's good to be prepared!" Ryan's hanging heart finally let go, and he turned back to the surveillance screen just now: I saw that Miller was the only one left in Research Room 2, Lucien was no longer in the picture, and the Brazilian at the door was also missing. "Could it be that the Russians ...... No, the two of them should be here! ”

"Uhh "But now isn't the time to play PDAs......" Ryan thought, like everyone else, sitting and waiting for Lucien to give an explanation.

At this time, Lucien was the center of everyone's attention, and his expression was cold and serious, not like a shining hero in the crowd, but like a sinner about to be put on the gallows. Everyone's faces were also solemn and sad, as if the person in front of them was about to be in a different place, which made the atmosphere of the entire conference room extremely heavy.

As a matter of routine, Lucien cleared his throat and addressed the space station members present:

"My friends, I'm sorry I made this choice, I've sent a statement of this mutiny to the fugitive fleet where Earth's decision-makers are located, as well as to Earth, the Peace-2 space station, (there was a commotion)...... Don't worry, as much as I'd love to sign the 'Minerva Crew', I don't think I can speak for everyone here, so I'm signing my name and taking all responsibility for this rebellion. ”

As soon as the commotion subsided, everyone's eyes were fixed on Lucien again, only to see a little light in his eyes.

"I'm sure you've learned that our relatives and friends didn't get on the fleeing spacecraft as they promised...... Yes, I know some people would be skeptical, but sadly, this is indeed true. Like you, I was confused, terrified, and overwhelmed when I learned about this, but this is a step that humanity must take when it leaves the earth—even if it is not our relatives who are abandoned, there are still the vast majority of our fellow human beings who are abandoned on earth waiting for the end to come. Yes, biological populations are always the law of the jungle, there is no real fairness at all, and human beings have taken this law to the extreme. Even now...... At a time when the end is approaching, there is still a group of decision-makers who only put their own interests first, and once upon a time, they could exterminate many innocent species just to satisfy their own selfish desires, burn their own kind just to fill their own treasury, and create weapons to destroy the world just to fill their own sense of security...... We naively thought that after the 'era of great reconciliation', these acts would be swept into the dustbin of history, but instead of disappearing, they have intensified their plunder, enslavement, and destruction...... Now, they have torn the last layer of their face and betrayed us who once risked our lives to give everything for them......"

Tears rolled across his brown and black face.

"We have long understood that it is not the current Nt fleet, not other aliens, nor the nuclear war, intellectual crisis, and virus that are common in film and television works...... Since thousands of years ago, human civilization has experienced several dangerous situations of dancing on the edge of a knife, and it is the rulers or careerists who have pushed us to extinction by those who whitewash the beautiful but ugly and vicious. Now that we have become a stepping stone for them to continue to live, I would like to ask my friends here: Who wants to fall victim to their arbitrary decision of life and death? Or linger under their contemptuous gaze? Can we tolerate their disregard for our existence and death, and they will not be a burden or a heresy to us? Friends, they are not God, nor are they God's spokesmen, but they choose to betray us, which is to deprive us of the rights we have...... Even, they will declare that we are not part of human civilization! Can...... But we can't do anything about it. ”

Lucien raised the submachine gun in his hand, and the muzzle of the gun turned down to show the crowd—

"Friends, I'm like most of you: I hate weapons, I hate killing, and even the cannibalism that takes place in the wilderness, on the plains, in the desert, in the depths of the sea—that's why I love to study the sky: for those that are almost eternal in the present unit of human time. Because we are all afraid of losing, losing our loved ones or things, losing the emotions of the world, and losing the truth, goodness and beauty of the world...... However, these ...... These things that we value so much, whether real or abstract, have been wiped out one by one with the betrayal of the hypocrites. I can't accept all this, I can't accept the deception, the betrayal, the mockery, the never to see my wife and children again......

"I launched this rebellion without hesitation.

"I'm not here for you, I'm just for myself, so I don't expect you to support me or help me, but I just ask you not to hinder me.

"I have sent my appeal, and perhaps your hope, to the fugitive fleet: to keep my promise and send our families here at once.

"But so far, they haven't heard back.

"I pray that my actions will have a good result...... Otherwise—"

"Let's create hell and destroy these hypocrites once and for all. And we, will flee to the new world"

—no smiles, no salutations, no applause—Lucien thus completed his "declaration of rebellion".

……

At 8 p.m., the security guards brought food supplies, everyone began to eat, and the conference room, which had been slightly quiet due to the "Declaration of Rebellion", finally regained its vitality.

Shilka approached Ryan and handed him the food supplies, whispering in an undetectable voice, "I've got it." The latter took the food and thanked him with an elusive smile. On the other side, Gao Jie was also eating and drinking casually, although she couldn't see anything troubled on the surface, but in her heart she began to worry about impulsing the Overwatch and Wang Chen and the others on the other side - since Lucien was able to use the hacked clone survival module to destroy the clone carrier spacecraft and forcibly shut down the space station AI to launch a mutiny, then the Warden naturally had the possibility of being hacked by him, and if this worry came true, then her "Star Project" would be dealt a fatal blow...... Thinking of the terrible part, Gao Jie could only shake his head and shake off this haze, because there are still things to be solved urgently, and if it is not handled well, it is very likely that it will take the lives of the members of the entire space station.

The meal time ended in a dead atmosphere, and the hearts of the people were extremely heavy, but the perpetrator was nowhere to be found. Ryan then secretly used the PDA to bring up the footage of the various surveillance cameras, and found that Lucien was instructing the long room to operate the electronic terminal equipment, "He wants to find the password from there, huh...... Hopefully he never finds it. Rui An'an thought and cut to Research Room 2: Miller was sitting on the floor, with his back to the camera, and a plate of food next to him, but the food inside had not moved at all, "Don't go on a hunger strike, Russians, we're trying to save you!" ”

"Boom-" The door to the conference room opened again, and the three security guards gathered together to give orders to the members: "Everyone be back in their rooms in 2 minutes, we will lock the door outside, and the curfew will be imposed from tonight." ”

"What a disturbing word." Shilka thought to herself, she glanced at Gao Jie not far away, only to see her stand up and walk out the door casually, "She's so strong, she'll definitely be fine." ”

After greeting Shilka and Gao Jie, Ryan stood up and walked out like the others, but when he passed by Research Room 2, he saw Miller motionless inside through the glass window.

"Knock knock", Miller heard the sound of someone knocking on the glass, and slowly turned his head: I saw Ryan outside the window motioning him to look at the surveillance camera in the room: under the camera lens, there is a small red indicator light that is on - that is the indicator light to verify whether the surveillance camera is working properly, it is only used during maintenance, and it can't be found at all if you don't care about it. Miller, of course, knew what the red light was for, and he was wondering what the Americans were trying to do, and turned around to find that Ryan was no longer in the hallway outside the window.

……

Everyone went back to their rooms, nothing unexpected happened, most did not want to resist the rebellion, because the shock of learning the truth was far beyond everything, and Lucien just did what they wanted but did not dare to do.

Miller didn't know what was going on outside, he didn't know if there were any more people joining Lucien's mutinous team, and he was worried about the safety of the other station members, but alas, he was now imprisoned in Research Room 2 and couldn't do anything.

The food was still untouched, and Miller's arrogant personality made him not easily deign to eat what the traitor had sent, but he also had to forget the feeling of hunger by thinking about various things: since Lucien and the others started the rebellion, he was still polite to himself, and he took the trouble to persuade himself to hand over the password to hand over the control of the station's AI. Of course, Miller will never say the code, he would rather die than die, this is his duty, and he is loyal to human civilization. However, Miller knew that Lucien was not a patient person, and it was clear from the fact that he had quarreled with him about the number of relatives to flee, and perhaps tomorrow, "persuasion" would turn into "torture...... But even then, Miller will remain tight-lipped.

Miller thought about a lot of things, but none of them were good...... When he remembered Ryan's slightly meaningful prompt again, it was already 0:13. So he shifted to a seated position, facing the surveillance camera in the room, staring intently at it. On the other hand, the little red light under the camera also seems to be watching Miller very intently.

After about a minute, a small change appeared! Miller remembered Ryan's prompt: the little red light began to flicker regularly, as if to convey something—

"—it's Morse code!"
